@@natechenry Reign over Me was the finest acting I’ve seen from him, personally. Wouldn’t mind Sandler doing more serious roles in the future. I know he’s known for comedy, although having varied roles can still work out very well.
I think Adam Sandler is a great storyteller and his movies always have memorable moments and he can deliver both a funny message and a deep message. I think Brendan Fraser said it best in an interview with him. "He doesn't play underdogs, he plays champions that are overlooked!" - Brendan.
Really glad to see Click get more attention from reactors lately. How it subverts the expectation of a typical Adam Sandler comedy by including heavy emotions was done perfectly. Other things like Reign over Me prove he can do full drama very well also.
I remember when I was a kid, I cried at the end of the movie when he was in the hospital because I thought it was real. I guess you think about your own family, so it hits deep. A great Adam Sandler movie 🙌
The rain scene always breaks 😭 Seeing you mention Sophie Monk is crazy. I know she was in a few music videos/films in the US for a bit but didn't think people in US knew her. She got her start on a music reality show Popstars where they formed a girl group but that didn't work out but actually a new Aussie tv show Paper Dolls on paramount plus just came out inspired by them/created by one of the other members
SOLO JOHN! This and Zohan are two of Sandler's most underrated movies, imo. A lot of channels have posted reactions to this movie in the last year or so, but even then, a lot of people forget that this movie exists, but then end up shocked at the realism by the end. Love it.
The scene with the last time he saw his dad was emotional for a very good reason: His real life father actually had passed away not too long before this. That was Adam breaking character.
@@chrisaguilar1410 That's not too long, like at all. I find it hard to believe that didn't influence the script he was writing which only started filming two years later, so it had to have started being written even sooner to his dad's death.
The first act of this is all tongue and cheek, but when the second act hits and you're starting to realize where the story is going, it truly makes the third act even more heartbreaking. Every time I see Henry Winkler walk away and start to cry, rewinding it to the point of "I love you son" over and over again, it never fails to land. Work isn't everything if you miss what matters the most, and I really appreciate this movie for helping me understand that at such a young age.
I've ALWAYS appreciated this movie. The writing, acting, production design, makeup, all really good. Has some flaws for sure, but I was really taken aback by the darker elements to this story. It really made me cry multiple times. So happy it's getting some appreciation today and so happy for Sandler right now.
That's one of Adam Sandler's best movies, just before the "I'll let Sony or Netflix pay for my friends vacation" era. His movies used to have a feeling, a real story behind them. Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, even Happy Gilmore has some real love invested into it. I miss good Sandler films.
Fuck it, they're still good. Just the simple fact that he's been working on movies with his friends since college makes it all worthwhile. The man is truly a class act. Could he benefit from branching out like Jim Carrey? Sure, but you still can't get mad at him for just wanting to have some fun this late in his career.
I would consider this a drama as much as a comedy for sandler. Dude is great at it when he wants to do drama. His new movie Spaceman looks pretty dang good. And he is working on a new piece with the safdie brothers like uncut gems. I feel like he has the hunger for drama at this stage of his career and im excited. Punch drunk love, hustle , click I actually prefer this side of sandler.
This one actually, but it wasn’t until recently rewatching it back last year though and what’s crazy is that when I first watched it all those years ago at the time I didn’t have a family like I do now and I only saw the movie as a comedy and man did it break me hard especially the scene with his father 😢 made me think of mine if something like that were to happen between us, just very heart wrenching great film! IMO
Share a personal story of mine. This was the first Adam sandler movie i saw when i was a little kid. I was 9 years old when i watch this. I remember watching this along side my cousin house. Brings back good memories when I was a little kid. Also this movie is my first introduction to Jonah hill and Adam sandler as an actor.
I think it's funny to go through all the people who were in this movie, but one I never realized before was Kevin O-Doyle, who is now known as Cal Kestis and being on Gotham.
Oh damn I didn't realize he was Cal and Jerome. I remember when I realized Cal was Jerome too and I was equally astounded. Also, O'Doyle is the name of the bully family from Billy Madison too iirc.
Yes! Came home from kind of a poopy night at work, and not only was there a Reel Rejects video waiting for me, but it’s a solo John video! Just like that my day is suddenly awesome! The Wedding Singer and Bedtime Stories are my faves of his movies, but this one is fun.
The Henry Winkler crying scene always hits like a ton of bricks. Makes you want to be better with the harsh things you say when you're angry and not thinking.
I remember when this came out! It hit me like a ton of bricks. Now that I’m older, have my own family, and my parents and siblings are older it hits me even harder! Nothing and I mean nothing in this life is more important than your family and your friendships. Always remind the people closest to you how much they mean to you. Do not let pettiness, ego, pride, greed, and gluttony ever get in the way of that ever. When your time comes it’s not the amount of things that you have around you that mean something. It’s the amount of people by your side and memories you have that are what really matters. I want my wife, my kids, my family, and my friends to smile when they think of me and I want them to know that my love for them can and will never go away. A piece of me will always be with them. Everyone should watch this film as a reminder of what’s truly important. As much as Adam Sandler’s movies have been filled with comedy they are also filled with a lot of real important life lessons. He has always seemed like a genuine and kind man. He never forgets where he came from and the people who helped him get there. For that, he is one of the greats in my book.
Julio Iglesias is Enrique Iglesias's dad. Very famous Spanish singer known for romantic music. My grandmother used to have a crush on him 😅 Enrique looks a lot like his father Julio actually.
The amount of nepo babies in this movie never ceases to amaze me. Dustin Hoffman's son, Jack Nicholson's daughter, David Cassidy's daughter and Sean Astin.
I remember liking this movie when I was younger, even crying, but I saw a lot of people say it wasn't a good movie and I felt a little shamed for liking this movie. It's good to see people warming up or liking this movie now though. :)
I watched this movie when I was about 8, and my brother was 6 or 7. We were both sobbing all the way through the second act. It traumatized us-I actually think it shaped who we are today. I’m strangely but incredibly grateful for this movie.
Sandler has the best soundtracks to his movies. His movies aren't all masterpieces, but most of them are entertaining and a fun time. He can act serious though! Like in Punch Drunk Love, Spanglish, Reign over Me (about a man who lost his family on 911).
This was one of the films I watched with my mother. I had seen it several times already, but it was her first time watching. She was never really an Adam Sandler fan; the juvenile acting and humor never really appealed to her, so she never watched his films. But she was going through a rough patch at the time (her mother had died a couple months before and she was not handling it well), and I suggested watching it because we saw it was available on Amazon Prime when we were looking for something to watch together. By the end of the film, she had tears in her eyes and was trying to hold it together. I gave her a hug and told her everything would be okay, and she thanked me for showing this movie to her. As much as it made her cry -- the parallels between her and the mother she wished she'd spent more time with and Adam Sandler's character's story progression with his father really hit her hard -- it also helped provide some catharsis for her own grief at the time. She died unexpectedly less than two months later. I'm glad that I spent so much time with my mother (I worked as her caregiver for the last five years of her life), but I would be lying if I said it was enough time. Never put off telling the people in your life that they are loved, okay? Because once they're gone, it's a lot harder for you to tell them and for them to hear you.
OMG HI JOHN from the reel rejects I'm a huge fan by the way I love your movie reactions so much, keep up the good work bro, I hope Tara feels better soon, I will continue praying for her to recover, Adam Sandler is one of my favorite actors so far he is very funny at the same time.
I remember seeing this in the theatre with my brother and mum and aunt. It was pretty darn funny until it wasn't. So I overall view it in a negative light, because when it got sad it got REALLY sad. I don't want sadness in my comedy.
I love this movie so much, It in my opinion, is Adam's best film he ever did. The msg behind it is so amazing. And it all just going from a comedy and right into a dark and sad time was so unexpected. Hits me in the feels every time, as soon as he says goodbye to his father its nothing but crying. Such a great movie. I sobbed so hard as a kid first time seeing this movie, and to this day, grown man, still will never watch the movie around others XD
Gosh I miss these old movies. Give me all the classics back. Ya I can see through the story and point out product placement. But gosh that ending will always get me. Sometimes it's also good to pull back and enjoy the smaller things in life =)
My favorite frozen yogurt and topping is white chocolate moose with a little hot fudge around the cup sides and chocolate sprinkles on the bottom and on top. Super delicious
In the scene where he says goodbye too his dad that’s actually his real emotion and not acting before doing this scene Adam’s father passed away so that helped him to perform with real tears
I still haven't watched uncut gems, but this is the best adam Sandler movie. If you don't tear up a little in any of the last third of the movie, you have no heart.
Jim Carrey, adam Sandler and the gang(Chris rock, rob Schneider, Kevin, Andy, etc) and original American pie series with of stifler along with other comedy movies used to be my whole childhood. I used to watch 5-6 movies per day on a pirated cds. ❤
A remote that controls time and space and translates every language. Imagine just pausing time and doing everything you need to then unpausing it again. Just without the catch like this movie did 😅 I remember laughing and crying all over this movie years ago. One of Adam Sandler's best in my opinion haha 😅
This movie sneaks up on you, it's exactly what you'd expect from this premise with Adam Sandler, a comedy about using the remote to make things easier, than the movie stops telling jokes and becomes a well-written story about missing most of your life filled with existential dread
Did anyone catch the name Hasselhoff said when Michael showed up to work in a bathrobe? Eric Lamensoff, who will show up 4 years later when Grown Ups comes out
my relatives think im crazy for sobbing in this movie. when hes running in the rain i genuinely start sobbing its a sad movje to me! its funny but it has its moments of pause and seriousness. also brownie chunks and strawberries are my favorite froyo topping
I love this movie, but I always thought it was so silly of him not to skip through the work stuff. I would have skipped through all the boring work stuff to enjoy my family life and all the leisurely stuff instead.😅 I know there's a lesson to be learned about not skipping anything in life - including the bad along with the good - but I just think I would definitely choose skipping through work If I had the chance😅
I rmemeber the first time I watched this I was prepped to lmao. Didn't know I'd be crying by the end of the movie! Freaking Adam Sandler!! His best movie hands down imo

I know there's a lesson to be learned about not skipping anything in life - including the bad along with the good - but I just think I would definitely choose skipping through work If I had the chance😅
I rmemeber the first time I watched this I was prepped to lmao. Didn't know I'd be crying by the end of the movie! Freaking Adam Sandler!! His best movie hands down imo
Love the Bloodhound Gang reference!
