we use the belt sander/dynafile setup like those to smooth out welded handrail joints. i wonder how that skinny belt would do compared to the 1" one the dynafile has on it. if you use a flap disc or grinder disc on the handrail, you "stopsign" the tube and you'll feel it in your hand even after painting the joint.

Many factories I do work in have banned all wire brushes because of too many people picking broken wires out of body parts. Somewhere on the internet is at least one close-up photo of a wire sticking out of someone's eyeball and that is the one thing which finally got me to be super diligent with eye protection rather than a bit lazy at times.

I definitely enjoy this kind of "other" content that you polled us for!
As a younger viewer I actually really enjoyed seeing the attachments and their applications in real life work scenarios. My personal favorite from this video must be the belt sander attachment. The pipe one I had no idea such a thing even existed, but the belt sander itself is nice for the people who don't want to buy a large tool that they'd use 2-3 times a year and prefer a cheaper and more compact version of it instead. It somehow gets a good job done too, nice find!
Also that final test really opened my eyes as to *just how much* the paint coating can help against rust. Educational and fun at the same time, I really like these gadget reviews. If you could test some random vacuum cleaner attachments (either regular vac or shop vac) I think it would make a pretty interesting video as well. I don't know if there's various attachments but considering my new vacuum cleaner came with about 4-5 attachments, I believe that there should be random misc. attachments out on the market as well?
Anyways, whether you decide to continue making these or not - We enjoy this content too and like I said, I personally loved seeing the things get put to real work tests so I can understand what the tool is used for way better.
Have a nice day/evening Todd, and thank you for the dedication to this channel!

The outside grinder is also great for regrinding cams,or changing a camshaft lobes profile for higher lift(by removing however many thousandths from the non lobe side),to changing duration(by removing top of the lobe slightly for longer,or both sides, making profile steeper, and the bottom non lobe side and adjusting valves appropriately) as long as one doesn't sand or grind beyond the hardening..

But you did just see that... That was this video. He compared almost all of them to the correct tool. All your questions were answered. Almost nothing here makes sense to buy or use. He even said he doesn't recommend it after every one except the sanders.
-Drill He had to modify it to fit, worked but way too fast, will work harden steel as he said, super awkward to hold, and 10k rpm drill bit catching would not be fun. I assume everyone has seen or used a drill not sure if a comparison is needed, normal drill is variable speed for various types of material and drill bit sizes plus it's easier to hold. Infinity better and you can get a drill really cheaply.
-Chainsaw, didn't fit at first, oil didn't work. He compared a cheap HF electric chainsaw and it was marginally faster but bounced around.
-Circular Saw, again had to modify to work, had to remove the side panel, dust collection didn't work. He then compared it to the actual tool and it was much slower. You can also buy a 4 1/2" saw for not much.
-Hedge Trimmer had to modify it to fit. Seemed too fast to me. He then compared it to an electric hedge trimmer. You can buy a dedicated electric hedge trimmer with better spacing for less than the attachment cost.
-Belt "finger" Sander, worked reasonably well. He compared it to a flap disc. You can buy a dedicated sander like this for about the same cost as the attachment.
-Belt "pipe" Sander, actually worked pretty well. I don't know of a comparable tool especially not at a good price. This looks like it would be worth having if it's something you need.
-Chisel, had to modify it and it didn't work at all. No point in comparing a non-functional tool.
-Oscillating Tool, had to modify it to work. Compared it to the actual tool and it was much worse.
He seems to have a ton of different angle grinders and still had to keep switching between them, modifying, and tapping or cutting almost every time. You would need to buy an assortment of angle grinders, modify everything so it fits, buy the attachments that cost as much as the actual tool. You now spent way more money and time to have tools that work worse than the actual thing. I would really question the durability. You need to spend time switching the attachments vs just grabbing a tool meant to do that job. Not worth the hassle.

They would tear apart quickly for me on my 12k RPM grinders but when I switched to a 10k RPM, they last forever and work awesome. It's also worth noting that they are incredibly efficient at removing mill scale from steel! Great for prepping before welding. The belt sander attachment is actually based on a tool that already exists (literally a belt sander that is built on an angle grinder frame, available from Harbor Freight, Eastwood, and some others) but with the added benefit of being removable and not needing to take up all the space of a separate tool. Having used them ( we have a couple), I could also see the benefit of being able to hook it up to a more powerful angle grinder. For some reason, that drill adapter made me think of the "drill" Jaime made on Mythbusters out of a vacuum motor, a drill bit, and electrical tape.
    Another great video. 👍

As always, great test! But when you tested non-voven fiber discs, you should have been using it under lower rpm(it even written on the product), as it really chews through them on higher rpms.

Congrats on 3Mil subs! You deserve it! That being said, the two belt sander attachments seem like clear winners. When you unpacked the first, I would never have thought of turning an angle grinder into a dynafile, but that's a terrific add on if it works on your grinder. It probably shines best deburring or shaping metal over wood. Dynafiles are terrific tools for more precise work and spot work on materials like metal and lexan in my experience. That belt sander was perfect for the tube though as well. Tubes are always a pain to get sanded just right and someone thought that one out.

Great video as usual! I don’t believe you’ve done a video about “cutting oil” vs non cutting oil when drilling and tapping. I’d like to see if it “really” makes a difference? Thanks.

I do structural metal repair. I have to remove POUNDS of rust and paint every day to prep the metals for welding. I love the tests you do because it shows a great comparison. But i wanted to add a profesional and real world perspective. For whatever its worth at least. I have tested almost every brand of grinder disks, cutting disk, wire wheel etc. What i find works the best for rust is a good quality wire wheel. It is the best at getting every bit of rust out of the pitting which eliminates porosity in welding. And for paint, i use the paint strip disks, then use a wire brush to get any residule left in the steel. Keep the videos coming. I watch religiously to keep up on the best tools for the buck.

Thanks for the idea of how to use the hedge trimmers to remove weeds on large areas.
