@i Jamguitar the recording tap is PRE - right off the pre-amp... you can use the p16 routing to get 16 channels of POST eq if you wanna track that. Otherwise, on playback , you will be hitting all the channel post when routing back through the console...
Thank you posting this video,as a old school analogue engineer this has been most enjoyable and informative to learn on how digital consoles operate, and if you can belive this,i've only started using a computer, what 5-6 yrs now,so i have lot to learn on how things operate in the digital realm, and thank you once again for posting this video.Happy mixing and happy trails to ya folks.Take care and be safe!
Just sent this video to someone who wants to shadow as an introduction to this desk. Already threw them in the deep end by letting them mix a support with my support. So I know this video is going to hit he mark now, thank you.
This video is a great overview of functionality and operating the mixer. It is easy to understand even for foreigners! Thank you for making it! Especially, routing and safes was interesting because I didn't use it a lot.
This is the most enjoyable video I have watched so far..ever since I started watching videos about digital mixers and I feel like as is am using it right now.. much love sir 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I just started learning this board, at my church, about a month ago. It's not overly complex and I'm already getting the hang of it. I really like it. But what's also cool is that not only am I learning this board, I'm also learning the Midas Pro 2C, in the Broadcast Room.
Thank you for producing this video! Our church is in the process of installing this mixer board coming from an analog board. Thankfully, we have a sound guy who actually is a professional and knows what he's doing. I'm one of the drummers in the church, but sometimes I run Livestream, and sometimes I run sound. I have a lot to learn. I'm still trying to figure out how to mix on a Behringer Xenyx X1832USB for my other band, in which I play drums and (at least) set up the mixer. I will be coming back to review this and other videos to learn more. There is so much to learn!
@@jacksonmessenger1053 I’m just a beginner on this system. Definitely not the right person to ask at this time, but I’m sure someone out there would know.
Thank you RedOne Music Canada! Very thorough, detailed, structured and overall very understandable walkthrough! I love how you carefully use your words when describing different aspects of the mixer. I like this video very much, as I already learned many things about this beautiful mixer. All the best!
Thank you for this very helpful tutorial! I LOVE my M32, have owned it for almost two years now, and I'm still learning something new about it almost every day..... I'll be referring back to this video often!
I'm about to start using one if these at a venue. Gotta say coming from SSL consoles I'm actually kind of impressed. It's nit as complicated as Yamaha and other consoles, it'd straight forward and the screen has good visual cues. M.A.D.I capable anyone ???. The routing matrix might be the downside bit for the price point seems pretty good
The most clear presentation out YT! Just 1 thing i would like to know: say you have all set-up for a venue (all: gate + comp + eq + fxs etc)... can you record (on the cards and/or via usb) the "nude/ dry" tracks for a mixing/post-prod session the next day?
The USB card outs and the SD card recorder in the back are factory set to record the dry signal right after the pre amp. You will always get the dry signal unless you change it. It is possible to record the post dynamic and eq'd signal if you want. You have to go into the routing and change the CARD out's from "LOCAL" to "P16" on banks 1-8 and 9-16. The "P16" out's are post eq and dynamic signals. The "LOCAL" out's are dry. Hope that helps... Cheers!
you made everything very easy for me. I downloaded this video and after watching I came back to like, subscribe and leave a comment. Thanks so much. please try and get us a video of how to connect to my tablet.
Thank you so much for this awesome video. Please my question is what am I doing wrong if my fader is not controlling my channel moving it up or down doesn’t work?
Thanks for posting, very useful walkthrough. One litl thing - next time maybe you should use a litl more background light to help the camera focusing...

Omg thanks for this intro. I'm also getting into digital mixers. I work at a college theatre so being able to select inputs and send different sounds to different monitors is very important for me to do. I'm coming off of an older digital board but if I got this right, I can use the BUS sends to select inputs and send it to specifc monitors, right? How/where do you control the volume for the AUX outputs and can I use this to send inputs to my monitors on stage and backstage? Thank you again. This intro definitely helped me.
There's a possibility to use a channel in the M32 in line, without a preamp? To use with a external Neve 1073? How to best way to use teh mixer with a external preamp like that neve? Thx in advance
I use the usb card to my laptop for daw remote control. I have other gear and it requires a wordclock. If I switched it out with a ADAT card with wordclock included - how would I connect back to my laptop and would remote controlling be available? Are there other alternatives? AES?
Thank you so much for this video. Learnt a lot as I am new to digital consoles. However, am having a hard time deciding which console to buy. I have in mind a Midas m32, Allen and heath qu 32 and Allen and heath sq6. In terms of sound quality and durability, which one would you prefer? (for use in church)
thanks Brian for bringing this incredible video. Have 1 question please: With a 2 channel input i need to bring sound to 6 outputs (3x stereo) but want a roll-over effect. Did this manually until now, but need to run the lights at same time… Can i automate teh faders to go up and down automatically?
Have you tried any of yhe other mixingboards in the sae price genre like the Yamaha TF-series, Presonus StudioLive or such? Still think this is kinda pricey compared to the opponents. Any idea why?
Do XLR inputs Allow Both Mono&Stereo? or do you have to link two channels I ask as I'm Running it with my Daw and Synth plus a few drum machines. What about the Daw features...and button
XLR inputs are always mono. You will need 2 inputs for stereo. And the DAW button is for connecting the mixer to your DAW to control the DAW with the x32 or m32. It does not add features and can only control minimum features of the DAW itself. More of a gimmick than anything lol. I don't know anyone who uses this feature. Cheers
I know bout the +M stuff. Yes, thats for mutes. It can record with mutes or just pass through all audio. I still dont know if I should have used +M or not on a specific recording tho...on one hand - extra work...on the other - I have plenty of material that I might need in the future.
Is there something we didn't cover in this video? Let us know! 😄
@i Jamguitar the recording tap is PRE - right off the pre-amp... you can use the p16 routing to get 16 channels of POST eq if you wanna track that. Otherwise, on playback , you will be hitting all the channel post when routing back through the console...

Hi, right at the end you mentioned groupings. Mind explaining how do we assign individual channels to a group?
maybe fader flip?
