I saw one of those going the other way on the interstate awhile back. I thought it was an old restored airstream. Also….at the exact moment Marissa hit the A/C button, the refrigerated trailer parked next to at this truck stop cranked up. How funny.
I have looked at (haven't owned one) Airstreams, such as the Bambi 20 ft and as I compare to this . . . . . I like Bowlus better for the following reasons. 1) It is better construction from start to finish from the TIG wielded frame, heavier gauge aluminum panels. 2) Their construction techniques make this unit much lighter compared to comparable size Airstream. 3) There is better insulation with a completely enclosed shell. 4). Solar power system capacity is far greater than stock Airstream (if the model has it) and with insulation efficiency can manage being completely off grid. 5) I love the lighter interior as it makes it feel more spacious than if the interior was darker. 6) Far more vehicles can tow this trailer with max weight of 4000# so I won't need to buy a new truck that can pull the 6000# plus weight of a similar Airstream. 7) The design of the interior particularly the bathroom area is ingenious making it more usable when needed. Just all of it, I will say getting use to the bedroom just because it doesn't have square corners will be different. Yes it does cost more, can I justify it? Probably a used one with some depreciation off the lot and if I sell my home and live in it full time (which with the construction it has and history of no warranty items in last 5 years-significant) which I am looking to do once retired.
The propane extends your off-grid and winter use of the hydronic heating system. It runs off of electricity no problem, but it's even more powerful when you add the optional propane.

No slides - that is always a bonus! Having all the vents near the floor is a brilliant design feature! The bedroom looks very yacht-like. The price tag is prohibitive though.
Amen!! I;ll never understand the folks that think they have to have 12 slideouts. It's a camper, not a 5000sqft McMansion, if you feel the need to host a double square(16 people) square dance, go outside.
To me, it's a rolling coffin or MRI machine! No thanks. That's worse than an Airstream in my mind. We don't have propane and the new models have lots of lithium. If you add enough solar you can live off grid, as long as you can find water, (and dump)
The first big turn off for me on this rig is single axle everybody knows that the tandem axle is a lot better situation also it reminds me of a submarine
@scarlethenderson6510 - The Bowlus is safer and better designed with a single axle. Weight determines needs. Recreational trailer tires hold a load capacity specific to each tire. In the case of a Bowlus, with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4,000 pounds for the Volterra, we use Goodyear Endurance 205R15 at 65psi with a load; this equates to 2150 lbs. per tire. This dictates just one axle and two tires. A 25’ Airstream, on the other hand, has a GVWR of 7600 lbs. For such a heavy travel trailer, two axles and four tires are required. Let’s ignore for a moment the arguments that two axles greatly compromise interior layouts and reduce interior space or that they cost twice as much to replace or maintain. Instead, let’s look at how aerodynamics, specifically weight balancing, and the design of an RV impact tracking and safety. Our owners tell us that when they’ve experienced challenging driving conditions (particularly down mountain passes) with other, heavier travel trailers they’ve owned or rented, a double axle did not deliver better tracking or provide a feeling of more safety.
I was just there and did a walk through. It is super cool but I felt like I was in a submarine and after being in it for about ten minutes I started getting on my own nerves. It’s super cool just not for me
Not sure what you mean by 1st electric rv??? I am the owner of a 2022 SNOOZY 2 rv, and it is all electric. The Snoozy Camper has been around for quite a few years... at least a decade if not longer. Please explain what you mean by "1st all electric rv."
@user-wy9md3dr6i The Bowlus is the first production all-electric RV that can also run all major appliances off-grid from batteries and solar. That includes the air conditioning and the hydronic heating system.
Fun fact; Bowlus has never had a single warranty claim ever... ever, in the history of the company. Never had a cracked frame, never a failed body panel... you can keep buying RV's all you want over the next 40 yrs and spend 2 million... or you can buy this once and forget about it. Also, the man who invented Airstream worked for Bowlus and stole his idea and started Airstream, which quickly went bankrupt. Also, Bowlus made the plane 'The Spirit of St Louis'.
It must be hard for the salesman at Lazydays to justify the price of that unit. Any prospective buyer will cross shop Airstream and Living Vehicles. Both of the alternatives will provide way more bang for your buck.
I’m not sure why it’s being called the first all electric RV. I had an all electric Tiffin Allegro RED which was all electric. No propane. The only fuel was diesel for the engine and the Aqua Hot.

We're all built differently, but the Bolus is the ugliest thing I have seen recently, no storage, and just plain impractical. One thing I do like... it should tow easy. Aerodynamic! Maybe a Tesla truck could pull it 😀

Changing sheets on that bed would be a nightmare. And it’s a bit claustrophobic. The only people buying this are people who want to stand out from the crowd. Thanks for showing us.

Amen!! I;ll never understand the folks that think they have to have 12 slideouts. It's a camper, not a 5000sqft McMansion, if you feel the need to host a double square(16 people) square dance, go outside.
@@tomkrause62 hear! hear!
To me, it's a rolling coffin or MRI machine! No thanks. That's worse than an Airstream in my mind. We don't have propane and the new models have lots of lithium. If you add enough solar you can live off grid, as long as you can find water, (and dump)
It’s probably not for everyone, we just wanted to share something different.
How is this full electric if it needs to be towed?
It’s still classified as a travel trailer.
The first big turn off for me on this rig is single axle everybody knows that the tandem axle is a lot better situation also it reminds me of a submarine
Good point
I'm confused. I live full time in my RV and it's all electric.... What else would it be?
Usually RVs have a propane stove and oven as well as the heat.
Sure is different!! 😀😀
It was fun to see!
I was just there and did a walk through. It is super cool but I felt like I was in a submarine and after being in it for about ten minutes I started getting on my own nerves. It’s super cool just not for me
The Bowlus is definitely different than anything else out there!
you should of done a model shoot video in front of the AC vent lol
😅😅😅
Not sure what you mean by 1st electric rv??? I am the owner of a 2022 SNOOZY 2 rv, and it is all electric. The Snoozy Camper has been around for quite a few years... at least a decade if not longer. Please explain what you mean by "1st all electric rv."
I think they claim this because they began manufacturing on 1939.
@user-wy9md3dr6i The Bowlus is the first production all-electric RV that can also run all major appliances off-grid from batteries and solar. That includes the air conditioning and the hydronic heating system.
4.5 gallon black water tank?
You guys should get together with some friends and try out a houseboat for a week and let us know how it is.
That sounds like a great idea! 💡
Great rig for some folks, but why doesn't it use a compostable toilet rather than an "old fashioned" casette toilet?
I’m not sure why they went with that, but it is easier to dump a cassette toilet than a composting toilet so that could be their reasoning.
Cassette toilets are horible if you are going to do anything but pee in them. Give me a real toilet and a black tank.@@LessJunkMoreJourney
@@LessJunkMoreJourney - That's right. Our customers prefer the convenience of being able to dump their cassette toilet at any restroom.
That’s interesting information!
I’m getting an underground bunker vibe. Personally, I don’t like it. You made a great video about it 😊😊😊😊
Thanks for watching!
Remind me of an underground bunker my husband showed me a video of.
I can see that!
It must be hard for the salesman at Lazydays to justify the price of that unit. Any prospective buyer will cross shop Airstream and Living Vehicles. Both of the alternatives will provide way more bang for your buck.
Maybe that’s true, it’s definitely in a league of its own.
This also looks like Gru from yhe Minions movie....his car looks like this!!!
Ohhh yes I see it!
That's what my kids said 😂 "Gru's car!"
A 30 foot camper with a cassette toilet? For $300000. I want a freaking black tank
Might not need ideal for some people.
They just notified by put the video. I guess it was delayed. Not sure what happened but it’s all good.
That’s strange, thanks for watching!
@@LessJunkMoreJourney
It’s all good now either way the notification.
It is odd. But it’s ok!
The rivian is better. It has a dishwasher. Is taller inside, has a bigger bathroom. ❤
Ohhhh a dishwasher would be amazing 🤩
Do you recommend this for kids? Dogs?
It might be ok for short term travel with a family and a dog, that’s truly a decision you would have to make on your own.
Classy.
Very classy and timeless
Thank you!
Have you see the price? 💰💰💰💰💰
They’re up there in price.
Very different and fun to see but I don't care for it and the price is crazy. I agree with the other person it would blind people!
Thanks for watching! We wanted to share something different and exciting.
Your welcome! I enjoy your videos and you seem like such a nice family!
So it's all electric but nothing about battery life.
So I'm guessing boondocks with the ac the battery life is 5 mins?
talk about a sun blinder when going down the road.
It’s SHINY!
Knoxville has 3 of them.
Awesome 👏🏻
I’m not sure why it’s being called the first all electric RV. I had an all electric Tiffin Allegro RED which was all electric. No propane. The only fuel was diesel for the engine and the Aqua Hot.
Maybe they’re considering it the first all electric towable.
@@LessJunkMoreJourney Good point. I thought that might be but wasn’t sure.
It could also be because they began manufacturing in the 1930s
That RV doesn't exist in my world lol $337,000!
It’s out of our price range too, but it’s still awesome!
@@LessJunkMoreJourney Yes, it is.
Ridiculous price
I look forward to your videos every week but this video to me looked like a paid promotion and you guys were laying it on thick, it was hard to watch and I definitely lost some respect for you guys on this one, sorry.
I’m sorry you didn’t like this week’s video, we genuinely thought it was fun and unique.
I'd compare it to a 1930's train car
Yeah, I can see that 🤔
We're all built differently, but the Bolus is the ugliest thing I have seen recently, no storage, and just plain impractical. One thing I do like... it should tow easy. Aerodynamic! Maybe a Tesla truck could pull it 😀
It was fun to see this throw back made modern, I understand that it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
@@LessJunkMoreJourney Love your content! Thanks for the reply. Would like to meet you folks and FOS someday soon when I get all retired in 6 months!
Submarine
It does resemble a submarine!
talk about sticker shock wow
It has a hefty price tag!
It looks like the inside of solar oven. Not for me. It's one hail storm away from a heart break.
Unfortunately, that’s the risk you take with any aluminum exterior.
Way too narrow and too expensive. Would buy a motorhome if I was spending that much.
It’s a league of its own that’s for sure.
Bet they don't sell more than 2 at that price
It’s really innovative!
It looks like your in a boat
Yes it reminded us of a boat!
👍🤩💝
😊😊😊
Some of the features were very cool like the bathroom situation but that shower was not practical. The kitchen had no storage, the refrigerator was ridiculous, no TV, unusable outside storage. Changing sheets on that bed would be a nightmare. And it’s a bit claustrophobic. The only people buying this are people who want to stand out from the crowd. Thanks for showing us.
It’s really innovative, thanks for watching 😊
