One problem will be is finding the perfect spot to open it up. Some spots you can't open it because of trees in the way. A toy hauler is better because the space your are in most likely has extra space length wise more than with wise.
@@barbaralaux9842 it depends, we've been in many state park campgrounds where there are trees immediately behind the drive and so a back deck wouldn't work but the area next to the drive is often open for stair and awning space. Just spitballing but I'd say it's 80/20 space to the side versus back for places we've stayed.
So happy for you guys. You deserve it. Nice to see a manufacturer work with families that use RV's as their home, hats off to Grande Design. Take care.👍👍
Definitely need a roll down door to secure the outside kitchen area or you will be missing items in the morning and protect from the elements! Stay with 2 axles (beefed up), use dual hubs (4 tires on each side similar to Spacecraft) Patio have legs for long term stabilization and support, not just the cables. The brown flooring is a much warmer environment with the interior accents. The area dedicated for the children's area is brilliant! I vote for the televator in the bedroom. Very innovative design...imaginative for a towable! 👍
Love the side deck with in the kitchen area, absolutely brilliant! We have a toy hauler with the rear deck and love it but that side deck is so much better!
Overall I love the rig. I haven’t read all the comments so maybe this has been answered, but our biggest problem in our Solitude 377 is that the 3300 pound (going from memory) payload is just not enough. I’d love to see at least a 4k payload and if you need three axles to make that happen it wouldn’t bother me in the least. We’ve been full time for over five years and have never used the bedroom TV. If there was an option to buy without that set I’d take it. Similarly, we prefer sleeping in a cold bedroom so we would not want the bedroom fireplace. If it was possible to buy the rig with that space filled instead with more drawers we’d be in heaven. As I said, all in all I love what you’ve done. Nice work!
A built in track in the ceiling in the kids room for a sliding yet tie back curtain for privacy. Curving arm wall mounted lights for each bed in kids room too. Little light stripes with dimmers for each set of steps for safety. Central vacuum and designated spot for hose. On deck railings eliminate the space between the bottom and the floor so little toys don’t fall through. ( Lots of lost legos with a gap)
As a former 378 solitude owner I love everything about this unit. I hope grand design is dealing with the frame issues and can recover from the bad press.
I love your design. Love the floor plan. Nice dishwasher. Never saw anything like that before. Love the windows and the patio great size of patio. You will be on the patio more than inside the house. Lol! It’s very very nice. I love it. Can’t wait until it’s fully finished. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and hope you have a great week and safe travels.
We have that dishwasher!!! We redesigned our entire kitchen a year ago and put this dishwasher/sink in. You'd be surprised how well it does on the 20-minute cycle. Regarding the deck, I suggest having the stairs on the side, as you more than likely won't find a campground with enough room for the front stairs. A soundbar is all one needs-Bose preferable,y! We have never used the ceiling speakers and hardly ever use the outside ones. If we need music outside, we use a portable speaker as it really comes down to the campground layout and where the we sit. Go three axles!!! That rear tray is HEAVY and will be even heavier once loaded!
Would like to see a pocket door or barn door in master. And I like the projector idea for bedroom! Love love love the bathroom! And shower curtain idea! Much better! Would love to see just chairs around dining table instead of a booth on the one side. That seemed to be clunky. Agree with the no speakers in ceiling! A good sound bar is perfect! The brown is warmer! Feels great! You have so much natural light already! And it matches much better with your decor. Excited for y’all! Looks beautiful!
I'm curious? 1. Why not have the factory install Morryde Independent Suspension? I don't think you want that Beautiful RV to be shaking apart down the road? 2. Why not install the new Furrion chill cubes direct dump air conditioners? That would eliminate all the ceiling air vent holes and better cool the RV. IN ANY CASE, THAT'S THE BEST RV I'VE EVER SEEN ‼️
Wow, ya'll could nearly play tennis on the size of that patio. Seriously though, one of the things I like doing is figuring out mods for my 26' RV. It's amazing the creative things you can come up with to solve problems.
NO! Nathan please don't get rid of the speakers! 😂 they should blend with the ceiling, however. Ours are white. Hubby's into SURROUND SOUND. I love the WINDA'S😂, (I'm told when traveling out of Ohio that i have an accent, so i absolutely connect with Marissa!❤), BROWN flooring, the dishwasher, and the LOVELY DECK!! TELEVATOR gets my vote. ALL of the innovations!❤ I'd LOVE projector to be able to sit on the deck to watch! We had a cheapy to try & i liked watching TV outside. What a dream come true to design your own RV & make changes with prototype! We're new followers but have caught up some. We enjoy your content, thank you!
I love everything about it. I hope Grand design starts offering this model for others to buy. I need to sleep too many kids for this model but maybe they can use some of those features somewhere else. Oh and the brown floors works better. Good job guys 😊🤗
Same! I have 5 children. Could the “L” couch sleep 3-4 teenagers? Keeping the bedroom in back for smaller children/babies? Can the booth workspace in bedroom fold down into another bed? We hate lofts as the kids outgrow them. But love the separate bedroom/bathroom space
Thank you for the feedback - do you think GD should install it and come with the camper or do you think leaving space for an after market option is better?
Its fabulous guys. i love the brown floor over the grey as everything looks more cosy, the hamper with access both sides is a great idea, and the bath my favorite feature, Did i miss JJs bed, i need to check the video again. My dad always said to me all the heat escapes thru the windows so will heat retaining be an issue. Bet you cant wait to BBQ on the patio. please can i came, Love and hugs to you all and special hugs to hensley as i loved her talking at the end x x x
Thank you so much!! While heat does escape through the windows, we don't tend to stay where the extremes are... we're looking at what most traveling full time families do - chase 75 😊
#team3axles...I think it's a given. I'm thinking the pin weight alone puts this into 1-ton dually territory and guessing it's over 16K dry - that side patio and sliding glass door has to be heavy - super awesome, but heavy! Kick it up to (3) 7K axles and you'll probably never worry about cargo capacity.
I can’t wait to see your final home. Definitely like the brown floor better and love the patio! I did notice and wonder what will cover the windows in JJ’s bed?
I love the idea of the lifted bed in the loft, and to make it “disappear” during the day time, get a curtain rod the length of that bed to hang along the wall above the bed/slide and use valances to cover the bed/mattress part. It frames the slide/window nicely and the valances will hide the bed when it’s in the lifted position
Brown flooring definitely. The bunk bed is awesome but make sure the controls are housed in some way that they can't be accidentally bumped. That could be a danger to a sleeping child if it closed when they were on it.
Ok, the outside deck is awesome!! (Need an awning over the deck!!!)That would be a huge gathering place for us as well! Couple of thoughts: Love the idea of the televator in the bedroom...keep the window big! Bathtub...you need a way to switch the drain so that the tub water can go directly out to the sewer hose...you'll fill your bathroom gray tank quickly with a couple of tubs of water! TV area...looks like you've got room for a small cabinet something or other under the tv? be great for dvd storage etc. I absolutely love what you're planning with this rig! Betting this comes in right around 20K weight wise and because of that, 3 axels would be needed. Since you're already going through all of this, do the right thing and get upgraded suspension, like shocks or the Lippert Airbags and put on disk brakes.
Very nice details! I like the projector idea for the bedroom. Loving that sliding glass door and the huge slide out rear storage. Great job. Oh and I like the warmer floor color. Very pretty.
Brown for sure for the flooring. I’m undecided on the dishwasher. I think I’d rather have the larger sink or if you keep the dishwasher, maybe create the top to blend with the counter tops? I’m torn on it. lol Love the projector idea in the master bedroom, big tv’s make the space feel so much smaller. Love the separation of rooms, living has its own defined space. And yes on the three axles. Ok that’s all I got for now.
Brown floor looks good! I vote for screen/projector in master br. No need for outdoor speakers with bluetooth speakers available. Kids beds may be too short? Deck and massive storage is really cool.
Overall, I like the floorplan but there are a couple of dislikes. There isn't enough counterspace around the sink. An under counter dishwasher would provide more counter on top. There isn't a backsplash along the counter edge where the couch is to prevent potential spills that could go over the counter onto the back of the couch. There needs to be a short vertical backsplash all along that counter edge. What is the purpose of the trim under the cabinet at the end of the counter? Looks like food or liquids could go under the opening and be difficult to remove. Just make it a normal connection. Next, not having a food pantry would be a deal breaker for me. A good size pantry is a necessity for a family in a rig this size, and for resale. Go for the warmth of the brown floor. The gray looks too cold and sterile. It's exciting y'all are able to participate in the creation of your RV. So cool! Looking forward to seeing the final reveal.
Love the brown floor. Only negative I have heard about the toilet in the kids room is that it is not efficient on water. I’ve heard it uses about a gallon a flush so could be a negative if you want to boondock a lot.
This looks AMAZING! The only thing that worries me is that electric bunk ... does it have a safety feature that will stop it from rising up if a kid is on it?
Add lighting under the drop down bed. Love the brown floors for warmth. Like the projector and window shade idea in the master. I have an idea for kids rooms for older kids who don't want to share rooms! Any chance Grand Design would be interested?
I prefer the tan flooring, it looks warm and flows well with the wall trim. I love the overall layout and design, the side patio and outside storage knocks it out of the park! Not a fan of the dishwasher taking up the sink space. A televator is a great idea for the bedroom. Its really a beautiful RV!
Congrats on the new design. I'm guessing by now you probably have your actual unit by now. We have a GD Solitude 390RK-R with the long MorRyde tray in the rear basement as well. We also keep our Lectric 3.0 e-bikes in the tray. We found that the weight of the bikes caused the bottom of the tray to bow down and then one of the bottom cross braces would catch the bottom edge of the door opening. When we had our coach at MorRyde to install the IS suspension I had them look at it and they put 1/2 inch spacers under the tray and that remedied the situation. So you might want to check your clearance underneath that tray.
With all of that storage in the rear, I would go to triple axles. I like the warmer brown tone flooring. Question though - pantry? I'm not sure I could give up my pantry space, but I guess since you were in the Lineage, you got used to not having a big one.
Thank you for the feedback, I think we're leaning that way too. There still is so much storage in this kitchen, it's just laid out different than our current
Triple axle hands down...anti loc k braking....new hitch type that reduces shocks by 50 %...and make it a ball hitch more room in truck bed... Luke BTBR has.....make sure alll opening in both have been sprayed foam with steel mesh....make sure all pipe fitting have brass fittings
Patio is amazing! I’m with Nathan on the sound bar. Love the brown couch with the brown floor. The dishwasher is genius! You will still have a small taco bar. 😂 I hope we get to see your trial in it. I’m curious about the fridge and having room to open it while you are in front of it.
The Coachmen Catalina Legacy RKP has a patio (RK being rear kitchen), manufactured in 2019-2020. That one was my favorite just because of the patio. I had thought if I ever did live in an RV that would be the one I wanted
The difference is Nathan is saying Winda instead of Window and Marissa is actually saying Window!!! They just sound different when they say it! LOL Keep up the great work and open the windas, er windows!
You have created quite a nice build. Regarding the speakers: why could there not be a choice left in the rig - ceiling speakers and a sound bar? Sure a little more money to supply both, but with a switch quickly you could have ceiling speakers one day and the sound bar the next. You seem to have created quite a bit of storage inside and out. Like the hamper idea.
The fireplace/desk should have a pop up…face? Basically , the top is hinged from the back. The TV/monitor is mounted to the underside of the table top and is revealed when you open/lift the table top. There’s enough space underneath to store your laptop, etc so everything’s easy to use and store when done. The front face will also need to hinge down so the “desktop” (the bottom of the cavity/box) is level. It’ll be nice though because the desktop will expand by the box’s depth. For example, if the table top is 20” deep and hidden box 8” deep, the desktop would become 28” when opened. Pretty great if I don’t say so myself!
Amazing!! You have done such a great job. We are looking for a new rig and this might be it! Can you fit 4 kids in the bunk room? Will it be at the Tampa RV show? So excited to see it.
I am loving this model! I have a 397. I do not use the overhead speakers. I bought the Roku cordless speakers for behind my couch as it was hard to hear the TV with the AC running. I agree that the glass shower doors are such a pain for upkeep. I like the idea of the televator in the bedroom, but you could never really have anything on the dresser. I know you said the drop down was choice 4, but I like that idea. I also like the idea of the 3rd axle, especially with all the storage in the bunk room and underneath. It would be really easy to overload it with just 2 axles. Finally, the side patio is the BOMB! I love the sliders and all the light! Won’t be able to make the meet up as we have reservations in the Keys at that time. 😢 Will the prototype (and you guys) be at the Tampa show? Would love to check it out (and see you all) in person!
Nathan… big suggestion you won’t regret. The rear toilet, I get it and like it BUT…. In the storage area you have to make them add an access panel to get to the bottom of the toilet and the clean out etc. I had a Class A with a similar design and it’s easy to clog and needs to be worked out but impossible to get to. I had to have my 6 year old attempt to get to it. You’ll be fine but you need an access so you can lay on that tray and work on the plumbing inside the floor.
It’s beautiful! I feel like the dishwasher is too tiny to justify the space it takes up. I’d rather just wash the dishes and put them away right then and there and have the extra counter space in return. This is so exciting for you guys!
In my home I have a countertop dishwasher, that looks like it is about the same capacity as the built in you showed. We use it a lot and it is amazing how much you can get into it. My pain point in doing dishes is silverware. I would really go with the dishwasher.
Awesome. You have definitely come up with a great design. I do want to see that deck as close to a mountain edge as possible so it looks like you step out into the air. ❤❤❤❤
What about heated floors, we love a warm floor in our Tiffin and you will find it heats the place up in the winter. You can control the floors in different areas.
I’m assuming the patio door is automotive safety glass? When I saw the stairs next to the glass doors I freaked 😱 out a bit. Might need to lower the mirror/ cabinet in the kids bathroom. Beautiful decor you’ve selected!

You could add a grab bar at your bathtub/shower. Lots of people get hurt slipping in the bathroom and it would not take up much space.
Great idea, and could always be a towel rack if not needed
Very nice details! I like the projector idea for the bedroom. Loving that sliding glass door and the huge slide out rear storage. Great job. Oh and I like the warmer floor color. Very pretty.
I think it makes the space more inviting. Back to the warmth, without all the super dark brown of old.
Brown for sure for the flooring. I’m undecided on the dishwasher. I think I’d rather have the larger sink or if you keep the dishwasher, maybe create the top to blend with the counter tops? I’m torn on it. lol
Love the projector idea in the master bedroom, big tv’s make the space feel so much smaller. Love the separation of rooms, living has its own defined space. And yes on the three axles. Ok that’s all I got for now.
Agreed!
@@LessJunkMoreJourney sorry I edited my comment after I watched the whole thing. I need to be less impulsive!! 😊
Lots of great feedback in the edited comment :) Thank you!
Thank you! Such great feedback - we'll see what we can do
Those steps and the storage in them!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
Love the brown floor. Only negative I have heard about the toilet in the kids room is that it is not efficient on water. I’ve heard it uses about a gallon a flush so could be a negative if you want to boondock a lot.
Thanks for the heads up!
CONGRATS YOUR NEW HOME IS BEAUTIFUL. GOD BLESS LOVE YOU
Looks beautiful your ideas are awesome
Thank you! We really hope this will change the industry options
I would suggest puck lights under JJ's bed for the booth. It is already wired for the up/down switch.💡
Great idea!! Thank you!
Definitely agree. It was dar under that bed and for an office or table, you will need light.
This looks AMAZING! The only thing that worries me is that electric bunk ... does it have a safety feature that will stop it from rising up if a kid is on it?
Yes, it's actually similar to those lift beds in a class A, that are operated only with the Key in. Great safety measure with kids.
I like the brown flooring.
Add lighting under the drop down bed. Love the brown floors for warmth. Like the projector and window shade idea in the master. I have an idea for kids rooms for older kids who don't want to share rooms! Any chance Grand Design would be interested?
Love the feedback! This is great! What is your suggestion for older kids not sharing rooms?
I like the grey floor, but it it’s super washed out. The brown is cozier, and will hide dirt better!
PS I want that hair organizer drawer!
Yeah - it would be great with a different color palate, but this one is warm and just doesn't go.
Brown for sure. Warmer and not going to go out of style.
Agreed! Warmth without being all dark brown everywhere
WOW!!😮❤ Absolutely spot on! We have never wanted a 5th wheel but this... maybe.
It’s definitely a game changer! Might get you in a fifth! 😍
Thanks so much for the kind words, and we're glad you like the new design.
Loving the RV and I think the brown floor is good brings a bit of warmth to it. ❤🇬🇧
Thank you!! Very much agree. And thank you for coming on this journey with us all the way from the UK!
The brown flooring feels more cozy making it look more like a home.
Holy moley! Awesome!
Right?! We're so excited! Can't wait to share more
Congrats on the new design.
Thank you! Great to know - and no, we don't have it yet! But excited for when it's ready - should have it by April, in time for our Huddle in Florida
Thank you! Great feedback!
Patio is amazing! I’m with Nathan on the sound bar. Love the brown couch with the brown floor. The dishwasher is genius! You will still have a small taco bar. 😂 I hope we get to see your trial in it. I’m curious about the fridge and having room to open it while you are in front of it.
Thank you! We are so excited to keep sharing more details about this RV, especially once we are in it
@ I could have gone on about all the cool features! Just so many! Very exciting!
The Coachmen Catalina Legacy RKP has a patio (RK being rear kitchen), manufactured in 2019-2020. That one was my favorite just because of the patio. I had thought if I ever did live in an RV that would be the one I wanted
I had to look that one up - pretty need for a couples trailer!
The difference is Nathan is saying Winda instead of Window and Marissa is actually saying Window!!! They just sound different when they say it! LOL Keep up the great work and open the windas, er windows!
Keep the hitch on the back! We would want that for added storage if needed
We definitely won't be getting rid of it, just a bonus that we won't need it
Looks awesome guys!
Hated seeing water spots on our glass walls in the shower. So when we redid two bathrooms in this house…..shower curtains!
Yes!!! While they look amazing, cleaning them is brutal!
@ Best decision. I gave the razzberries to glass walls.
I like gray...but I think the brown would be better with the brown furniture and accent walls...really nice design..
Thank you! Loving the feedback, I'll pass it on to Nathan
Oh interesting, so kind of like those living room tables that pops up in front of you to eat at?
We will be at the Tampa show, but not sure just yet if the Proto will be there. Love all this feedback, so good to have before we finish the final one
That’s a great tip. We will pass that along to Nathan!
It’s beautiful! I feel like the dishwasher is too tiny to justify the space it takes up. I’d rather just wash the dishes and put them away right then and there and have the extra counter space in return. This is so exciting for you guys!
True! I think Hensley will really like it though
In my home I have a countertop dishwasher, that looks like it is about the same capacity as the built in you showed. We use it a lot and it is amazing how much you can get into it. My pain point in doing dishes is silverware. I would really go with the dishwasher.
So much silverware during one day! Agreed!
@@LessJunkMoreJourneyGet that dishwasher!! Don’t compromise!
Awesome. You have definitely come up with a great design. I do want to see that deck as close to a mountain edge as possible so it looks like you step out into the air. ❤❤❤❤
We will try to get it up in the mountains soon so you can see! (and I can see!!! with a cup of coffee and a book in hand)
What a great video!!!
Glad you liked it! Can't wait to share more!
So cool! Love your innovations! With incinerator toilets you have no toilet pipes😉just a thought😊
Thank you! We hope we're getting as many as people want to see in a new design
What about heated floors, we love a warm floor in our Tiffin and you will find it heats the place up in the winter. You can control the floors in different areas.
Oh wow! That would be amazing!
Nice deck! The nerd in me would be more excited about upgraded suspension and anti-lock brakes.
Ooooh stay posted!
Sliding curtain around daughters bed :-)
Love the idea!
I’m assuming the patio door is automotive safety glass? When I saw the stairs next to the glass doors I freaked 😱 out a bit. Might need to lower the mirror/ cabinet in the kids bathroom. Beautiful decor you’ve selected!
It is rated for being towed down the road - wouldn't have anything less (similar to other models with patio doors and no deck to protect them)
@ having the deck to protect them is a great idea!
I like the brown floor!
In your bedroom, have your TV mounted to your ceiling that folds down to be watched. Just an idea.
Interesting idea - do you think that would impact headspace using the dresser as a desk?
This is so awesome sooo close to what i have wanted in an rv. Way to go. Some changes would do but only a couple. 🎉
Oh my goodness, can you get more light? 😊It’s beautiful!!
Hmm... I think we should add another winda! 😂
@@LessJunkMoreJourney
That must be a Marissa comment! Lol
What was the give away? 😂🫣
Ohhh…a bathtub! What if you had jets!? 😍🤗
