The Townes projection does not need to irradiate the face and thyroid. All that is required to correct the positioning shown, is to angle the tube less until the collimation is to the brow line. To continue to teach the standard technique is a crime against radiography and assault against the patient. The books should have been re-written when the light beam diaphragm was invented. The Townes projection has needlessly irradiated 30 million faces
