To your point about areas made difficult with stacked mob placement, pathing is really vitally important and can make a lot of these areas you're finding difficult almost trivial (a prime example would be the dog & crossbow area just ahead of the cathedral) to fight (or run) through.

I appreciate encountering someone else frustrated by Dark Souls 3! People around me often like it, but I resented the game heavily for casting aside the slow pace of 1 and 2 in favor of frenetic attack spam.
Good work on the run by the way, the Corvian Greatscythe Farm is a nightmare but otherwise the weapon is fantastic.

I still like it, I'm of the opinion that there is no truly bad Souls game, but DS3 is still pretty safely my least favorite of the three... I still hold that King of the Storm is the worst boss fight in the series due to A. The sheer amount of downtime from it flying away, B. The camera C. The lack of a challenge and D. All this being a time and energy tax you have to do Every Single Time right before a more interesting and difficult boss fight.
Was cool to hear someone else mention the big increase in effective downtime in ds3 (and ER i found), and was a fun challenge run to watch, ty backlogs for bring me here ^^
Would ask for future stuff if you could spend a bit more time on the weapons you're using, even just throwing the stats on screen for a few secs, and explaining their gimmicks a little as personally its been a hot minute since I did DS3 and I cannot recall and details about the pontiff scythe ramge/moveset etc so that'd be cool ^^

7:40-8:40 this is my biggest complaint abt DS3. I felt encouraged to just run through most levels and suicide run for valuable loot and shortcut progression.
Whereas all the other games felt like I could actually fight the enemies. Most of my gameplay experience felt like sprinting through boring level aesthics dodging 3 dogs and 10 shitter enemies (who only seemed to stunlock instead of being inherently dangerous). And then a boss fight at the end.
So many players and commentators say the bosses are the best part. But I guess all the good bosses are later on. Bc vordt, sage, rotten tree, deacons, all suck. (The gimmick bosses Yhorm and big skele were cool but not very gratifying imo) I ended up just beating it with a +10 raw longsword and all my points in health and green stuff and soft caps for strength. Haven’t been to the DLC yet. Still summoning my resolve to just run through everything and fight the rest of the bosses. Which are supposed to be the best in the series. I guess.

It sounds like you are way more acquainted with DS1 and 2 than this one, and it seems like many of the people who fall in that boat tend to share your gripes. In my experience people who came starting with DS3 or Elden Ring tend to enjoy DS3 much more than the other 2, which is how I am. Its all just preference. @solarpellets you might dislike them BECAUSE you run through them? Maybe you like the areas in 1 and 2 because of your familiarity with them? You know the routes, you know which enemies to bait and when to attack, which enemies to sneak around, etc? Just my opinion, but I don't think you'll ever love them, if you continue to approach them this way. Running through, especially without knowing HOW to effectively run through (which is knowledge you acquire from actually playing the levels more than once) is the most sub optimum way to get through these levels and is of course going to cause you grief and frustration. Again...just my opinion...but I think you're selling this game (and your possible enjoyment of it) short by not sitting with the difficult bits longer.

I never said it was because it was hard you dope. I love the dancer, she's one of my favorite bosses in the series, and consequently one of the hardest for me. I'd argue Pontiff is around the same difficulty, but I'm not as good at him because I don't find him fun. Hell, this "challenge run" wasn't even that hard to begin with lol. It has nothing to do with difficulty, I wouldn't do a challenge run if I didn't like it being hard.

@@solarpellets The whole time you talk about bosses moves being annoying, frustrating, bullshit, based only on reaction(funniest shit i have ever heard) you complain about "enemy spam when the most amount of enemies you will ever have to fight at the same time is 3 if you play dilligently. Also, from the clips i can see you barely know how most of the bosses work.

@@Yive. I didn't die to a boss until the Princes, this wasn't hard. Annoying does not mean hard. I'm not saying the game being reaction based is bad, I'm saying that DS1 and 2 aren't and that I like that style more.

@@solarpellets im not talking about dying, of course you won't die when using one of the best weapons in the game, im talking about you not knowing how to dodge a move and getting mad about it, calling it annoying. As someone who's played this game enough to master it there isn't a single move in this game that is reaction-based. Also it wasn't just the bosses you complained about

@@Yive. lmao it's not that I can't dodge them, it's that it's annoying to dodge them. Hard and annoying are not synonymous.

@@solarpellets look dude, I don't care for DS3, so I ain't no butthurt fanboy coming after you or anything, on the contrary
But it is straight up comical to go through a 30+ minute video full of "this sucks" "it's annoying" "awful" "badly designed" "worst in the series" etc and then have you tell me you don't have strong negative feelings towards this game
It'd be like some IGN long list of complains round up with a "has a little something for everyone" type shit

I'm personally a fan of reactionary bosses like slave knight Gael or Romeo, king of the puppets, but it was a cool challenge run.
My opinion though is that you shouldn't be so negative about a game you play. If you dont like it, you don't need to play it.

I love the game. But also, critique is really fun, so even if I didn't love the game, I'd still enjoy the process of critiquing it.
