    The slant six is one of the finest engines ever conceived, perfect combination of bore, stroke, torque and horsepower. Great video!

      nobody really knows how far they'll go,people who have owned one rebuild them out of respect for their use,i used to replace the engines in the taxi service in our town of 1.5 million,yellow cab had over 115 dodges with this engine,most were just wore out ,never broken,loose timing chains and stuck oil pump relief valves, four bolt mains and rarely did I see one in the copper unless the idiot didn't change oil,they are superior design

    In my mis spent youth I had a 225 bored .060, Janhns 12.5:1, Kay Sissell Cam, Sissell headers, a ton of port work, titanium retainers, large valves, Mallory ignition offy intake with a 500cfm holley two barrel. I had to go to Atlanta to buy 55 gallon drums of Sunoco 260 racing gas to run in the thing. Raced on a little 3/8 mile dirt track. That 4 1/4 inch stroke came off the corners like a rocket sled .had it set up with a home made direct drive setup using a dodge dart for a chassis with some Petty suspension parts. Ran against bone stock 283 chevies and 302 fords. After one year they changed the rules. There were 5 sixes racing against about 25 v8 powered cars. I did not win every night but I won my share and never finished worse than 5th. I spent the next 15 years banging around a bunch of tracks such as Pensacola, Montgomery and Birmingham driving all kinds of V8 fords and chevies but I never, ever had more fun than I did with the little slant six. Nobody and I mean NOBODY could believe that a slant six could run that fast. It was a Helluva lot of fun.

    Are you able to estimate just how much it cost to build a supercharged Slant Six? Are the parts still widely available? LOVE YOUR MOTOR!!!

    • @terrylittlejohn
      @terrylittlejohn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      thanks! new parts build is in the $5000 usd range, aussie performance make a blower intake that you can bolt a 144 or 177 B&M style blower to with a single 4bbl carb, the motor mods are just keep stock piston just open ring gap to 0.24".Port the head and back cut the valves , replace the cam with a good rv style 114 centerline .450" to .500" lift, with 340 style springs, stock head gasket will work up to 7psi boost, steel shim my be 10psi, over that and you want head studs and solid copper gasket and o-ring the block! hope that helps!

      it is a straight 6. they leaned the cylinders over to make rm, the water pump set in to the side, rather than the front, helped packaging into the A body especially, which was the primary platform for this miss.
      it's a robust and fairly long engine, the slant was needed.
