You should check out what Kaplan did on TH-cam here. He got 50% more power! They mainly ported and polished it, with a four-angle valve grind. He said the newer bikes were responding really well to these mods. It's got plenty for most mortals stock, but who can ignore 50%!! :' O
Bought my 2019 a couple weeks ago, got her with 177 miles on her; I have already de-smogged, jetted, LED tail lights, replaced stock tail ight with WPS, IMS 4 gallon tank, new bars, risers, 14 tooth Fritzco sprocket, wider pegs, ...did I miss anything? I love these bikes....my 2nd one. Soooo much fun. Enjoy!!
Oh the 22’s have been released just not hitting showrooms for a couple more weeks. So glad they kept the bike the same for 22 but changed the graphics a little bit looks really slick.
Hell yeah! I bought one new in 19 with the intention of leaving it stock. Well...9000 mods later....😂 anyway every time I get on mine I cant fathom why everybody doesnt have a dirtbike, takes me back to the days of stuffing a soda can in my fork driving the neighborhood crazy!
congrats on the new scooter !!! we love ours not sure if you had a bigger tank on the fist one and that was the best up grade we did to ours . had a 4 gal on the first one and went with a 5.8 gal on our 2021 . enjoy the night and #livetoride
Thank you Mr269! my first one was a 97 and had the stock tank. had to be pretty tactical and know your gas stations lol. I wish honda made a larger tank you could purchase with their original graphics! Two of my cousins and i all purchased the xr650l's at the same time and would scoot around the santa cruz mountains, skyline and highway 1, make a big loop, the Pescadero gas station was a must in order to make it bac to santa cruz. hell ya Bolt sounds like a frickn great time right there . the ims is a fast bolt on had one on our 98 and the accbess 5.8 needed some fab work i did a walk around with it on our brp .
Cool, you're gonna have some fun on that. Honda are the best I think, as far as reliability goes. When I run them in I give them a bit but you just have to make sure they don't overheat, everything is tight.
Thank you Doug! I was looking at the 2022 Kawasaki KLR650 but they are big bulky bikes, especially in person. But had to go back the XR650L, my second time owning one
Update june 1st got 2000 miles on it now getting close to the 2nd oil change tearing up the back roads of the Florida panhandle and south west Alabama and cruising gulf shores to Pensacola beach
Make sure to replace the primary front sprocket real quick you don't want to rebuild your transmission trying to replace the output shaft. That's probably the only Achilles heel of that bike otherwise it's perfect.

I had an XR500. The kick start would kick back and hit me in the calve every time. lol. Rode that old 500 from santa cruz to sacramento a few times.

California, Brand new bike costs about 7 thousand, used on craigslist about the same price, so I bought a new one.
