Hi, if I upgrade a hard drive on an acer all in one. I actually tore the black wire that connects the data says cable to a screw on the motherboard. Is the black wire necessary. Can a red sata cable be used instead?
If you install as your second hard drive it won't be visible in Windows Explorer (if you have Windows installed). You have to right click on Computer and select "Manage". Select " Disk management" and you will see a black stripe where it says "Unallocated space". Right click on it, then click " Create a new partition". Follow those steps and the drive will be ready to use. Now, I don't know if the data you put on a full drive will automatically go on the other one, but you can always create folders manually to keep everything organized
