Chanel Les Beiges Hydration Long Wear Foundation VS Sublimage l'Essence de Teint : 8Hr Wear Test

  • #Chanel dropped TWO new #glowfoundations recently. Both have a luminous lightweight texture, sheerer coverage and smoothing, hydrating properties.
    With one formula priced over 3 times more than the other though, it's worth asking if they are actually different or just slight variations marketed towards different customer segments.
    UPDATE: Singapore customers do note my error in pricing. Sublimage is $228 not $288!
    I decided to compare formulas and do a wear test with #Sublimage l'Essence de Teint on one side of my face, brand-spanking-new #LesBeiges Healthy Glow Hydration Long Wear on the other, so you can check them out for yourself and see how they perform over 8 hours, under a mask, etc.

    Babes in Singapore, please note my error in the Sublimage pricing! It is $228 not $288! Also forgot to mention both foundations have quite a strong fragrance (typical floral Chanel scent) which some people may dislike. It goes away during after application but if you're sensitive or want to avoid fragrances, do take note!

    Great Video! For me it came down to wanting a foundation (don't wear one every day) that was also skincare/treament
    which the Chanel Sublimage is. Also, the fragrance in the Les Beiges was strong compared to the Sublimage which
    was a barely there vanilla scent that dissipated quickly.

    Quite an interesting comparison for sure. They both look gorgeous on you! So smooth and silky looking 🥰 Chanel really make amazing foundations, always a treat to try. I'll always have a weak spot for them haha. I too was a little surprised seeing not one but two satin-finish healthy glow foundations released so closely by Chanel. However since their normal Sublimage le Teint foundation feels a little much for me, I was excited to see a more light-weight foundation from that range. The Sublimage line is very luxe and costs a lot more than their other lines so I assumed this too would be much more pricier than their foundations typically are. I'm glad to see the Les Beiges foundation holding its own really well and it was good to see the comparison. I also want to get the Les Beiges foundation first, but I'd love to try the Sublimage l'Essence de Teint when I have some extra cash to spare 😁 As I'd anticipated the Sublimage l'Essence de Teint really seems perfect as an everyday foundation, can't wait to give it a shot when I can buy it. I've seen nothing but positive reviews of the Les Beiges foundation and am very excited to try it. It seems perfect for the upcoming winter months for me 💗

      Haha that was what I told myself! I do wish they'd have the additional option of selling the foundation refill without the brush though. I wouldn't mind repurchasing the foundation but won't need to get a new brush each time. Otherwise they're both lovely formulas.

    The price of sublimage in Australia is $202, the product is amazing with a lots of benefits for my skin, however is absolutely recommended for mature or dry skin.
    This is the first Chanel serum-foundation, works for my skin, especially as a daily light makeup. A bit shame doesn’t have any SPF protection so to fill this gap I use the CC cream under to get the best result.

    I have noticed the Vitalumiere foundation shades do seem run warmer and a bit darker than the rest of the foundations available at Chanel. Hopefully they don’t discontinue it...! But it looks like Les Beiges could very likely replace it especially as they’re so similar AND there are more shades available 🤔

    This review was so helpful! I had just gotten a few samples of Les Beiges Hydration Long Wear Foundation and when I heard this new one coming out, I wanted to make sure it wasn't significantly better before I bought it. Personally I don't think you can get all that much of a skin care benefit from a foundation, so I am fine to not pay a $100+ for it. I'm also not clear on what the shade range will be like. It seems all over the place.

    • @IamCandiceKC
      @IamCandiceKC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha yeah Chanel still has a long way to go with their shade range!! But it's good that they are expanding it in the recent launches. Generally in the smaller lines they stick with majority neutral undertones, but the new Les Beiges seem to have a slightly better distribution among undertones than most of their other lines (e.g. pink ends with 2, neutral ends with 0 and yellow/gold with 1). You can just check based on the ending number.
      You're 100% right to go with the samples!

    • @JessieBanana
      @JessieBanana 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@IamCandiceKC Yeah, I matched best to BR112, but I am actually more neutral, so far they aren’t carrying the neutral undertones in the deeper shades. BR works fine enough for me.
      From what I have seen on Holtrefrew though, they’re carrying a couple very deep shades in the 140s and 150s but not much in between for the Sublimage 🤷🏾‍♀️.

    • @IamCandiceKC
      @IamCandiceKC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Irene, sorry I missed your comment last week! I only tried Sublimage de Teint a few years back so apologies as I'm working based off my memory. De Teint (pot) is quite airy and sets to almost a demi-matte "freshly washed" slightly filtered-skin finish. Surprisingly, it's quite blurring and not as dewy as I expected for a cream foundation.
      I feel l'Essence (liquid) is slightly more glowy, and gives a "freshly moisturized" look. Both have similar skincare ingredients and light-reflective pigments and coverage, so it's really up to you which finish you prefer!

    What’s ur Mac shade ? And how do u like les beige in comparison to Dior forever skin glow foundation

    • @IamCandiceKC
      @IamCandiceKC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I go between NC20-25 depending on the formula and how much it oxidizes! NC25 pre-oxidation. Dior Forever Skin Glow is a thicker consistency, has a bit more coverage, is less dewy, and dries down quicker than Les Beiges. The Dior is more typical of a long-wear glow type foundation while Les Beiges is thinner and sets quite moist, and doesn't feel like you would expect a long-wear formula to feel, if that makes sense!
      I would think if you have combination/normal skin or you're wearing a glow foundation in warm weather, the Dior may do a better job while the Chanel is probably going to ace it on drier skins or seasons. Hope this helps!

    • @IamCandiceKC
      @IamCandiceKC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stephanie, I tried the Le Teint quite awhile ago so don’t take my absolute word for it as I’m working based off memory and have not used them side by side! The cream one blended in a bit quicker for me, and the new l’Essence serum foundation has a gel-like consistency that takes a bit more time to dry down, but their coverage level and glow are similar to me after setting with powder. I do remember Le Teint breaking down after about 8-9 hours and this newer l’Essence lasted quite a bit longer for me. Neither one controls oil but the liquid formula stayed looking nicer at the end of long days. Again, that’s just on my skin in humid weather. Hope that helps!

      Hi sweetie, I had my skin scanned professionally at a few different places and my undertone is neutral. If a brand has only pink vs yellow undertones (e.g. many MAC ones), I tend to go for the yellow. Usually for Chanel foundations, the numbers with a 0 behind are Neutral (20, 30, 40). Golden/Yellow tones end with a 1 (11, 21, 31, etc) and the pink undertones often end with a 2 (22, 32, 42). Hope this helps!
