    One of the main reasons I still love my g85.. I can adopt it to old lenses so easy

      Yes, that's one upside of the mirrorless design.

    I use this lens on my Canon R6 and i absolutely love it! It takes great black and white photos and is really sharp across the frame for a 50 year old lens

    Always amazed when reviewers say that the quality of a lens is good considering the design is 40 years old - did they think that designers didn't know how to design a lens back then ? They made them beautifully and usually spared no expense using metal and high quality glass - and they say " oh I am really surprised it can produce good images " ...?? 🙄🙄🙄

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I does not mean that. It means that today lens designers have more knowledge, much more advanced tools (computers and software) and more precise manufacturing processes at their disposal. Therefore the designers can design better lenses today than they could 40 years ago. However, that doesn't mean all modern lens designs are better than all 40 year old designs, of course. Digital cameras also require more or different properties from lenses than film cameras and that is why all film camera lenses do not perform well on digital cameras. When I say better I mean sharpness, contrast and optical quality in general. Whether the modern lenses make better looking pictures is of course a personal opinion😀

    FD mount ran from 1971 to 1979 (some Lenses even later), in 1979 the FDn mount arrived with automatic lock.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The FD and FDn are compatible, only the locking is different. The lifespan together was from 1971 to 1987. I should have mentioned that in the video, but it did not seem important, because the video is about the lens and not about the mount. The upside is that it allowed some people to show off a bit here in the comments😀

    I use the zonghyi turbo II FD-M43 on my G9, but also with a very thin Nikon-FD ring I can use my Nikon lenses with the zonghyi. A 50mm becomes a 36mm.

    I have a lot of these old lenses....but they aren't as good as the new ones, it's really sad. Still, they are hand made, beautiful souvenirs from another time.

    • @AlbertKarhuFilms

      From my experience you are wrong. These old lenses have a soul and they render the colors in unbelievably pleasing ways. And they are sharp enough for human eyes.

      Do you know how to use them ?

  • @caldera878
    @caldera878 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Beware of this lens because the roller bearings could be rotten due to the age. If the focusing ring is loose, have some play or the front barrel is wobbling then the bearings need replacement. Taking apart is not easy and there are no spare parts for this lens so a fix has to be a diy solution.

  • @mosswareproaudio6328

    So, just to check. On an FD-E adapter, to change the aperture you need to be in the OPEN position AND PUSH THE "A" BUTTON IN.
    Is that correct? That is how it is working here. Shee.
    It is so much work to use this lens, it is not worth it. This is not easier than the earlier FL mount I have here.
    Has anyone modified this lens so you can just change the aperture like any other lens?

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  ปีที่แล้ว

      With this lens you turn the aperture ring just like with any other lens. If you have the lens in hand you’ll understand.

      You must not have the New FD type lens. It is not the same as my other vintage lenses. Google "FD Problem".

    I don't know where you got your Canon 24mm f 2.8 because I have one and it goes to f22, not f16. I have the same mount too.

      Yeah, but yours only goes to f16. The one I have here goes to f22. That is what I am talking about.
      Mine has the lock on the adapter, not on the lens. My Canon FL has the lock on the camera.

    Wait, FD lenses was not made for so long, The FDn came in the late 1970´s and the FDn lenses had a "normal" locking, most FDn lenses had new better lens designs and much better multicoating.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course many FDn lenses were better, they are newer designs😀
