    I agree. Modeling is also about keeping the file size small while maintaning the quality of acceptable polygons in the model. This tutorials have been a big help.

    Manually using the follow-me tool will leave gaps in many models, thank you for the "highlight the path, then click the face" advice -- no more janky rotational forms!

    A note: Clicking and dragging the follow me tool can produce nasty, unmatched end profiles when trying to create a sweep or a torus. By selecting the path and then clicking I have found it as much more likely that the software will create a solid object as opposed to a complex object that can never become solid in the case of certain kinds of geometry at the axis of rotation.

    Do you have a video tip about cutting components? I am working with Fox Blocks and need to trim them to fit. Thanks.

      Hmmm...somehow I don't...Probably what I would do in a case like this is use a plane and use the command "Intersect with model" to trim them. I do something similar in this video with a sink in a counter (th-cam.com/video/r-2GJ4eOjEw/w-d-xo.html) about 18:30 in. You'd draw a plane where you need to trim the block, then right click on your block and select "Intersect with Model," then erase out your extra. Hope this made a bit of sense at least. Thanks!

    Hi Justin, I've watched I think all of your Follow Me videos, and I can't figure out the following. How do I start with a 2 inch circle at the bottom and a 3 1/2" circle at the top, to form a tapered leg? Can I do it using Follow Me? Also, same idea, only with a 2" circle at the bottom, and a 3 1/2" square at the top (i.e. two two-by-fours glued together that are shaped with drawknives and spokeshaves to form a leg that's thin and circular at the bottom and thick and square at the top, morphing in the middle). This sounds like an easy task for Shetchup/Follow Me to me, but I can't figure it out. Any suggestions, please and thank you? Shawn

      Tomorrow I'm going to be covering an extension called Taper Maker that should do what you want for the first option. For the second option (circle to square), you may actually want to use the extension curviloft - I believe the shape along path option should be able to achieve what you're looking for - th-cam.com/video/3lu3L3ZzuXM/w-d-xo.html - I can't remember, but I may have talked about that in this video

    I have a question, for anyone kind enough to answer... Is there a way to do 'Joint Push Pull' without the extension / plugin?

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No...that's why the extension exists...
