The EU was doing well when super Mario had a job at the top at the expense of countries like Italy (different to how southern Europe & PIGS are EU funded). A few years ago Draghi was lobbying for himself to be the next president of Italy after a brief stint as PM of Italy. Georgia has an "Italy first" (Primo Italia) mandate after being elected.
And Macron for high treason. He's been ploting that from the get go agains the will of it's people.

EU becoming a single state is delusional.
Not from the EU's own point of view. They have put most of the elements of a single state together already, and Brussels is now only a fiscal capacity away from a federal state (the EU wants economic union complete by 2027). What they don't have is the will of the people. And that's why it is a disaster waiting to happen.

Sure, things are getting away from them, because their vision is ultimately unsustainable, but they won’t relent - the draw of power and control is simply irresistible. So, they are attempting to leverage the fallout to their own advantage. By simply blindsiding and bludgeoning the people with fear and struggle they are aiming to demoralise and break everyone’s will to resist their plan.

@@deansusec8745 The UK faced issues surrounding Brexit because the Tories put people in charge of the negotiations that openly opposed us leaving the EU and were therefore trying to find a way to functionally stay in the EU while adhering to the democratic outcome of the referendum
We're also not doing any worse than the rest of the EU. It may not have ended up being the drastic positive that we had expected (again, this is largely because of who was put in charge of negotiating it in my opinion) but it has, at the very least, had a neutral effect but with the major benefit of not being under the boot of the EU anymore.

Italy suffered from bailout dependency in the past and are not totally out of the waters, but the appalling spectacle of the EU telling Italy they had no right to hold an election should have triggered alarm bells for anyone who values democracy. It's not hard to see why some were even willing to consider a return to the Lira to free themselves for this Orwellian, totalitarian oversight. We in the UK should be doing more to actively support and encourage others to take down this heinous autocratic swamp.

You would think that these European states would have some sort of memory concerning the similarity with what they want to do and history.
Interesting development and one worth keeping an eye on.
Proportional representation and direct democracy ASAP meaning referendums on all major issues representative politicians can be and are baught and paid for by the so called elites it would sort a lot of problems out throughout europe ...the power would be with the people.
Did you ever think about the disadvantages of referendums? It is not easy to press a complex matter into one simple question. If the question is not simple enough some voters don't understand what they are voting for, which is a big problem. If people don't underetand what they are voting for they vote what their gut tells them and that is not always wise.
And who should phrase that question? The government or an 'independent' commison? Language can be a powerful weapon. I can not give an example out of my head, but it is possible to manipulate how people understand a sentence just by twisting words or use a specifc language.
Don't get me wrong, I am all in for more power to the people, but there are many things to consider.

It might be worth taking a look at the similarities between the USA and Europe as far as a centralized body of power. The states of the United States, GRANTED the formation of a federal government provided each state maintained the preponderance of authority within it's borders, only after representation by elected officials of each state, was any authority delegated to the Federal government The Bill of rights was that guarantee.

Not sure whether the suggested reform will favour or hinder WEF infiltration. Meloni seemed a promising prospect at first and then ... nothing. Either she's all talk and no trousers or some how her hands are tied , she's not got enough power or there are personal consequences to her actions that we are not aware of ... blackmail , threats of personal retribution to her and her family.
