Dublin residents have taken to the streets en masse to protest against the influx of migrants and the 'erosion' of their culture. They spoke to Dougie Beattie about why they think Ireland's politicians are 'trying to put on a show' and not actually solve the issue.

I'm Irish 🇮🇪🇮🇪, and it's nothing to do about the colour of your skin. It's we have Irish families living on the streets and can't get a house. We're only a small country. We can't handle the number of people coming in .
But it is though, at least for half of them marching there. The housing crisis traces way back and nobody was marching out there. Nobody complained about freeloaders living in fancy council housing while driving BMWs. Or the irish people around the border who claim benefits from both UK and RoI whilst working part time jobs on both sides. Not only individuals milking the system for decades but also big corporates purchasing entire housing estates and holding them to increase their value. Nobody marched then. Is it coincidence then that all this happens when there's some influx of dark skin people coming in? I can't believe that.

This is why you should be careful about who you vote for. As an Irish 17 year old (18 in July), I am firmly locked in on the fact that Leo Varadkar and the Labour Party have wrecked this country entirely. This immigration thing has gone way too far. Actual Irish people aren’t allowed to live in the houses of their own country, our children are afraid to go outside, and every time we have a grievance about this subject, the government instantly calls us “racist” and “far-right.” Is there anything racist about wanting Ireland to be Irish? No. Is it far right to want to preserve Irish culture? No. The Labour Party needs to be abolished, they’ve done more damage to this country than the Catholic Church. We Irish people have been controlled for centuries, we shouldn’t, and aren’t, going to let that continue.

As a foreigner taxpayer in Ireland, seeing Irish government welcoming such mass undocumented immigrants really hurts me. I had to submit more than 80 pages of documents in my visa and residency application. Undocumenteds are much more welcomed than legal immigrants.

As a Swedish man who's been visiting Ireland there times (2009, 2022, & 2023), I was truly shocked to see the country being swamped with non-Europeans/westerners in that short time-period.
We have simular problems in Sweden too, although they've been going on for a 4-5 decades, and still, the Swedes don't react in large numbers.
