That's really clever! I'm not brave enough to clean my lenses myself, I have a local camera shop that cleaned my old Nikon DSLR, I've not needed to clean the canon G7X 11 or the panasonic yet.
I'm not surprised Jamie was successful at figuring out how to clean the camera without destroying it, cause he can pretty much fix everything! But when you think about it, it needs to be put together, so technically it should be able to come apart again! And in this case, the only issue some people might have is trying to get the springs back in place and not being too heavy handed with reglueing the lens back on. Regardless, great job Jamie!! You've undoubtedly just saved lots of people $300+ in camera repairs!
Jamie is definitely the ultimate handyman. He can fix almost anything! Definitely a great guy to have around. He's not afraid to try fixing something he's not quite sure how to fix, but he always seems to figure it out. Keep up the good work Jamie!
He is an awesome man to have around Jess you are one lucky lady but thinking about it he is one lucky man to have a lady like you around big hugs take care stay safe xxxxx
Jamie is really great at explaining what he's doing. He has a calm and clear voice that is able to convey the information in a way that makes it easy to understand. Basically i'm saying we need more "how to" videos with Jamie. :)
That's really clever! Seriously though when I looked all over for DIY guides to do this same thing you're right. Most of what I got involved starting from the back of the camera and taking a ton of stuff apart before even getting to the lenses. I much prefer this method.
We have been holding off on buying the G7 Xii because of the dust issues. I have no problem taking apart the 2 Canon HR800F video cameras we use for the lawn care channel that we knock over drop and hit. We will now be buying one. Thank you very much for making this video.
I think Jamie is really a genius. He is just brilliant and could easily be an engineer. If you were into it he could start a home improvement type You Tube video channel. His knowledge, the demographics and the sponsors would definitely be there.🌟
I honestly get so happy when there are ads on your videos and I always try and watch them fully (even the one's i can't stand, i just mute them 😂😂). Hope this helps you keep the adventures coming. Thank you for another vlog. Hope Greg is going okay too ❤
Is there anything Jamie can't do?...fixes cameras, builds decks, remodels bathrooms, crafts bathroom sinks. Good catch, Jess!! Does Jamie travel? I can really use someone for projects around my home. Seriously. Maybe the next time you're in Cali? Awesome video. Much love from Cali!!!
Jamie is a jack-of-all trades & a master of all 👍! I'm always excited to see what Jamie's going to build or fix next. He's a Fantastic husband & wonderful dad 👌! Excellent work Jamie ✌️💖!
Wow! Great fix. I was just about doing the drilling thing but found this. It was quite easy. Only thing that was difficult was cleaning the glue of the front lens mount. On my unit it is a six point bayonett mount and EACH point (6) is glued. So it took some effort to remove the glue. Other than that it was simple. It is like new now! Great camera, will use for a a while more now thanks to you.
I would like to see the other part of how the shutter blades go back together and attaching it to the spring you're missing the most important part of the assembly.
I enjoy every video u guys do. It really helps with my depression and anxiety. I like this video and I hope you do more like this and have more videos with the dogs to like just like the other channel.
Thanks for sharing! I'm a travel blogger and have been searching for a solution since the vacuum trick failed me. Im not about to try it and lose a spring here in my hostel in India but once I get home I'll try it out. Thanks again!!!
Jessa i watch several disney blogs that have had the same issues with the new canon gx mark 3 and one blog called the the Tim tracker uses the mark 2 and just brought the Mark 3 like you did and are having the same problem they took back to bestbuy and they are fixing the problem. But several other disney blogs that i watch said that their is a firmware suppose to come out first of October that is suppose to fix the problem.
I enjoy that. It reminded me of when I was small watching and listening to my daddy fixing something. He would try things like that who think to try to pop the top off.💋💋💜💜🙇
If I ever need mine fixed, can I just send it to Jamie? hehehe! What I need is one of those wind blockers on the top of the microphone. Suggestions on your favorites?
Hi there!! First, thank you for sharing this info! I have been dealing with a couple of spots on my camera due to dust. I was wondering do you remember the two springs that connect to the the shutter parts? There are two hooks, one that faces downward and the other upward. I put mine all back together hooking the springs to the downward facing hooks and the shutter doesn't want to close. When I first took the lens cover off the had popped off so I didn't get a chance to see how the hooks were placed originally. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
Thanks! I've been using the Canon G series for years now, and love the G7X MKII, but that one damned dust spot occasionally ruins my pics and video, so it's been sitting in a closet for a while. I'm going to try your cleaning technique soon, and then plan to start using it again regularly to shoot underwater video and surf pics. If I break it, I may just buy a Sony RX model...
A good DIY for cleaning it will save alot of grief for others and specialy when cannon is not so helpfull :) well done jamie good indebt walkthrough. Thanks for a lovely video. STay Frosty, Stay Positive. The Danish Viking.
Interesting and thanks for the video. I came here looking for the G5X MkII lens tear-down and so far, from what I can tell, one doesn't exist on the innerwebs. That being said I have worked on a number of lenses and cameras in the past, film and DSLR and wanted to share that you should never used canned air to clean any glass part of a camera or inside part of a camera (outside body is fine) because the canned air contains a "propellant" that leaves a residue on the surface. Recommend only a rocket blower OR micro pressure controlled, air dried, and filtered compressor air (think pro camera repair shop) 7:05
Yeah, when it comes down to a new camera, or try to clean this one, we were okay taking the risk. We knew if we didn't get it clean we were replacing it anyway. And it actually worked good for a while after this , so we didn't have any residue on it. Also, this video is SO old! We don't even own this camera anymore!
@@SnowDogsVlogs fair enough. Viewers who "do care" about any camera/lens they own when performing any kind of maintenance, do not use compressed canned air for the reason I said above. Cheers!
Meh, most of the time, with a camera like this, when it get to this point, it's just about fixing it until it can be replaced. They aren't like DSLR cameras and other cameras that are easier to repair. These are point and shoot cameras. No replaceable lenses and things like that. And again, this video is insanel old. And it's an outdated camera. My cell phone records better then this camera did, but again ,this is an old camera and and old video.
@@SnowDogsVlogs I feel you are missing the point of the discussion here. $1.00 camera internals/glass OR $100,000.00 camera internals/glass, DON'T USE COMPRESSED CANNED AIR. Again, it contains propellant chemicals that leaves residue. I get it, don't take my word, just look it up.
my g7x does the same thing as yours with the shutter, did you guys figure out how to fix that? thanks for this video y'all definitely have given the best info and advice for this issue. thank you!
Would it be possible to put something in or onto that dust sucking hole, in order to prevent this? A peace of lens cleaning cloth or something that would let air through but not the dust?
Does Jamie perhaps know why my blade doors dont open again, they perfectly close, but dont open again. Lens was cleaned and it works all ok, so thanks for the great video, and hope you can help me some more
Ok so this video was great and I will attempt to clean my lens also. Yet the one thing that really got me was the song and it hypnotized me the like and subscribe. Just kidding I was going to like and subscribe just for the content anyways can't wait to see some doggy videos 🙂🐕
Hi, I am new to Canon G7X Mark II. However, I am proficient in Sony 100 series and Fujifilm. When I am taking photos with Canon G7X II, the images are not sharp, and the colours are not coming properly. At times in one photo itself, a few places are sharp, and a few places are not. The same goes for colours- some places have proper colours, and some places are too faded. I tried all manual and automatic modes. Suppose I am doing anything wrong here. Please help me correct my wrongs. Or is it because there is something wrong with the lens? I am awaiting your response.
Good afternoon Jessica and Jamie, it's Lexi again I just wanted to find out how you guys are doing since Shelby past way on the 5th of September? And when you're doing a lunch time rutean video with menphise and Kira soon?
Yeah, I have only one camera that isn't even mine and I'm too chicken over the fact I may do something wrong. Great video, though. I may ask the camera's original owner to give this a try.
How to Clean Dust from the Canon G7X Mark II WITHOUT Drilling: You just need two beautiful Huskies and a Jamie. Let them sit with the camera lense of choice for 15 minutes in a room, et voila: clean lenses
That's really clever! I'm not brave enough to clean my lenses myself, I have a local camera shop that cleaned my old Nikon DSLR, I've not needed to clean the canon G7X 11 or the panasonic yet.

It's quite amazing that people took the whole thing apart and did not notice that. Good job, Jamie!
Or different title: Jamie being amazing handyman!
That was really interesting. Jamie did great. (Didn't expect anything else of him.)
You are really a true fan you like comment on every video
Jamie can fix anything! He is a hero you don't have to deal with the dust anymore! That's a lot of money to fix it
I'm not surprised Jamie was successful at figuring out how to clean the camera without destroying it, cause he can pretty much fix everything! To steal from the TV show Home Improvement: “Snow Dogs Vlogs is proud to present Jamie the Handyman Hatch!!” 📐✂️🔍🔧🔨🛠 🙂
I don't even have a Canon G7X Mark II and I just sat here amazed that Jamie fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Canon please cut Jamie a check for $350.
Jamie is definitely the ultimate handyman. He can fix almost anything! Definitely a great guy to have around. He's not afraid to try fixing something he's not quite sure how to fix, but he always seems to figure it out. Keep up the good work Jamie!

Jamie with the new sideline business could charge $50 to clean vloggers cameras lol. XX
This is so cool Jamie the handyman at it again fixing and cleaning the camera awesome job Jamie

Jamie can fix anything!!!!
Thanks for sharing this is so awesome I really enjoyed learning something new
Awesome guys, just fixed my g7x! Have a great day! LOVE
So glad he was able to fix them. Canon is ridiculous imo to charge such a high price, and hopefully the g7x mark iii's auto focus wil be fixed.
300 bucks each? You're joking! That's insane.
Just get some tweezers, some know-how and - if available a Jamie- to fix it.
Agree so crazy
Agreed
I would suspect the $300 to be Canon's standard fee to get it on the bench. And yes, it's still insane
Bravo Jamie!
A GTTSD TED Talk: Cleaning Cameras 101 😂
Why don’t they O.o
Wow Jamie pretty good at sorting your camera. Good job.
Wow, awesome job Jamie. 👍👍👍👍
Damn! Jamie can fix ANYTHING!
Jamie continues to amaze me. Always!
Jamie is a jack-of-all trades & a master of all 👍! I'm always excited to see what Jamie's going to build or fix next. He's a Fantastic husband & wonderful dad 👌! Excellent work Jamie ✌️💖!
I love you for this! Ermahgerd! So helpful! My camera is so messy.
Jamie is amazing! I don't own a camera but I still had fun watching. Love you guys
i'll be totally honest, i was expecting the dust to be gone and it be instantly replaced with husky fluff lol
It will be eventually. Simply because the design flaw that got the dust in there is still there.
Wow! Great fix. I was just about doing the drilling thing but found this. It was quite easy. Only thing that was difficult was cleaning the glue of the front lens mount. Jamie has a lot of skill. Hi 5 man. That's awesome 😊

Nice - work :) i do many cleaning and work with some cameras - Jamie did a great work :)
If I ever need mine fixed, can I just send it to Jamie? hehehe! What I need is one of those wind blockers on the top of the microphone. Suggestions on your favorites?
Hey, amazing video. Could you please show how to assemble the shutter blades back together? Mine are overlapping, and I don’t know how to fix that.
Brilliant. I have a big dollop of dust inside my lens. I'm going to try this tonight. :)
Needing that video putting the springs back on
Pretty clever Jaimie!
thanks ! I will try to clean mine. luv your video!

Excelente video , gracias.
How did you hook parts back to springs? That’s what I really need to know. I can’t get mine back together. Help!
Handy man jami

I love DIY videos! Have you guys got a 3D printer yet? It seems like you guys tinker with a lot of things.
This is very good.
Hello!!! Luv u guys❤️❤️❤️ it’s been a year since Oakley went over the rainbow bridge?!😭 you’ll get through all your pain we love u 💖
very cool!!!😄💖🍁
Does G5X mark II also share the same strucuter of the one in G7X? Can I do the same to my G5X mark II? Thanks
No idea.
Wait this looks way easier than drilling
Memphis looked sad in this video.

Helloo . May I know what glue is used?
We didn't use any glue
What's Jamie's flat rate charge for his services 😊. I'm pretty handy but he's on a whole 'nother level based on the things I've seen him fix.
Awesome!👌
Hm wonder if this works with my G7
Works on Husky Hair?
I've got everything out, apart from the final lens to clean the dust off. I just can't get it to budge.
Can he Fix it? Yes he Can! #JamieTheBuilder
Memphis says " You may now take a picture of cute little me."
