Richard I am right there with you!!! I am leaving on a huge vacation and have been reading the manual and just couldn't process it in my head. This video is SUPER helpful!
You are not alone there. I even have semi professional experience with photography from my college days but the 202 page PDF Instruction Manuel, sent me into brain fade, big time!
Oh my gosh, I need to watch this vid a thousand times. Seems so informative, but she goes through things so fast it makes my head spin, and I'm also having a hard time finding settings and menus that she is using.
I’ve had my camera for a year and am only now attempting to learn how to use it with no photography experience whatsoever. This was SO HELPFUL! Can’t thank you enough.
Tip for new users: this camera does have a great Menu that is common to most Canon cameras. It offers a MyMenu tab where you can keep some of your most often used functions for quick access. Unlike the M50 camera, G7x doesnt offer multiple folders for MyMenu. So your selection is somewhat limited. Also be aware that even if you use the MyMenu convenience, when you are in Auto mode, you will only see the items that actually apply in auto - you won't see your complete list. When you are in non-auto modes (ie: Av, Tv, M) you will see the complete list. Surprisingly, the manual doesn't make it easy to find this info in the index, but it's on pg 109. Many people have asked for this info. Camera manuals are not entertaining reading, but people should plow through them and at least keep the electronic version on your smart phone. This camera has a LOT to offer...and learn.
very good video and i love g7x mark II i have this camera and i fall in love with it keep creating cameras like that and videos like that too love from India........
I just got my new Canon PowerShot and it is very hard for me to start because the manual is written in Hebrew and searching here on TH-cam all the review about this camera and thank's God I found you Tutorial.
I had no idea my little camera, which I have had a couple of years, could do all this. Getting ready to travel and don't want to take the big camera. This will do great! Thanks!
A brilliant video if you are just getting started. Very thorough and in terms basic enough for morons like myself to understand which was a breath of fresh air. Thank you Miss.
Awesome video! I just got my camera 2 days ago and planned on using it at my sons party today! I’m a last minute mom who enjoys amateur photography, but I can’t always (hardly ever) lug around my DSLR equipment. I think I’ve made a great purchase and your video helped give me the quick start I need. Thanks!
I bought this camera about a year ago and have barely used it. Never had time to learn its mode, go through manuals etc. I will be traveling soon and decided to research this camera again. And this video has given me EVERYTHING I needed to know. Thank you so much.
What a wonderful detailed video! I am hoping to purchase this camera in the near future and will certainly be watching this video again and again. I usually shoot in auto but I want to explore all the options available.
Great information. I recommend you should take a close up on the camera function. It is very difficult to see and very confusing since you going so fast.
Its been about a year i got this camera and have been trying to understand the features maze. Thanks a ton to this video. Made me to understand first whats this camera is capable of. Now i am going to go thru feature by feature and test shoot it. Thanks !
I just got it today. Letting the charger well, charge. ....i'm excited for the future with my new camera. Thank you so much for this video. I'll have to watch it a couple times but I'll be ready in no time😉
Thanks, nice video. I just picked this up used from a pawn shop 2 weeks ago and it is already a favorite of mine and my best point and shoot model. Image quality rivals my mirrorless interchangeable lens models.
Thank you for the nice demo I just bought one to add to my cameras. Now I have a GoPro Hero 5, Canon EOS Rebel T6i and the G7X Mark II. each has specific purpose with some overlap on all three!
I'm going to Wembley Stadium with a bunch of friends on 1st June and i'm going to get this for the concert as well as exploring London and this video is great! I've learnt a lot in this video so I'm ready to try it out and experiment within the next month or two 😍👍🏻
Make Canon G7X mark III. Add + 4K 24p 100 mbps + Sideways tilting screen (like M50, G5X, etc) + Bigger capacity battery. You can achieve that by put the memory card slot on the side, not inside the battery port. Thats how you can fit much bigger battery. You can make microsd slot instead of SD slot. Much smaller and can fit very easy. + add mic inpit. 3.5 mm jack And of course keep the form factor the same.
at the very least, add the mic. the other stuff i can learn to live with. the 4k is kind of overkill for vloggers. if they had what you described, I'd dish out 1500 for it undoubtedly.
Very helpful video, but question. Can you pause the video you are recording? because what if im recording and I just want to pause it, and not completely stop it.
I'm happy to upgrade from the Sx530 which has such a small sensor. It can be maybe 20% better then my smart phone in the right light but most of the time the same or worse in manual and I've tested different modes. Its only good for the zoom but is a regretful purchase. I was going to go for a T7i but after a shoulder injury decided to take the plunge for this small beauty which will definitely surpass that camera in all aspects.
Every time I transfer my videos to my iPhone the videos always have a black screen on top and bottom. I don't know how to have it so that once I transfer the video to my iPhone it doesn't have those black bars. Please someone help, thank you!
When you say the Reset All button resets the camera back to factory settings, does that mean it wipes your saved settings/photos/anything like that, or does it just return the settings (like aperture etc) to the default?
Awesome! I just learned more in this 16 minutes than I did reading the manual for months.
Thanks for the great feedback!
Richard I am right there with you!!! I am leaving on a huge vacation and have been reading the manual and just couldn't process it in my head. This video is SUPER helpful!
Richard Monroe Agreed! I hate manuals! Learned many of the core functions playing with my camera while watching this video.

This tutorial is excellent. I learnt more about my camera than I have reading the manual and doing three basic photography courses
i wanted to use my new camera ASAP, so i watched this video instead of reading the manual. Thanks a lot!

I have been having this camera for 4.5 years and only today l learn so many functions I never knew this camera had.

All good suggestions. I hope that Canon engineers read this one. Microphone input would be great. Just got mine yesterday. Keep the price under 600.
and sell to the market for 1500 bucks!
Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant tutorial.
