    I predominantly fish saltwater, like 95%, but I too have an always in the car reel for freshwater. Usually it's for if I drive by a spot I think may have crappie! It's a Pflueger President that has seen better days but has lived a quality life for a reel. It's caught a lot of fish and seen a lot of action. I bought it used a decade ago at least from a guy who used in it the neighborhood pond behind his house almost everyday. Absolutely love it.

      I LOVE these stories! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure if most of us thought about it, it's usually one of our least glamorous reel that sees most of the fish. Hope it hangs in there for you.

      Thanks for checking out the video and your dedication to getting it right. Glad to hear it's working better. If it's still a little hard to spin, I presume it was harder to spin before you started.... if that's the case, let's see if we can make it like new.... first check your pinion bearing, then the rest of your bearings to make sure they are spinning fine.... then check out this video because they probably aren't: th-cam.com/video/GI02FQMq9Nk/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps.

    I have the gx225. I just got a new ultralight rod and was gonna get a new revros but after seeing this, maybe I will try to service it and save some $. The bail trip doesn't want to work. It's old and never been serviced

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, give it a shot.... check out my everglades fishing video to see it in action. What's your bail flip doing?

    • @numerouno4168
      @numerouno4168 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TSGReelService It won't flip on it's own. A little resistance then it just starts to rotate with the bail open. When I close it manually the spring feels weak but it stays closed and is fishable. I probably damaged it by forcing it

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, got it. Try removing the bail wire and lining it up over the posts on the rotor that it rides on.... if it's too tight of a fit, try opening the bail little by little until it feels like a comfortable fit. If it's too wide when you test it, do the opposite..... and see how the flip works then. I have this tip in one of my Spinfisher videos, but can't remember which one. Sorry.

    Any idea why my real (gx225) would be stiff when the handle is on the right side? But not stiff when I switch the handle over to the left?

    • @TSGReelService
      @TSGReelService  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could be the drive gear bushing/bearing or too much lateral handle force. Could be the handle sits too low on one side and not the other. These are the things that come to the top of my mind. Hope it helps.

    • @TomahawkTom

      You're welcome and thanks for checking out the video. Happy to hear the reel is being kept in service. Best place to try for that stuff would be eBay..... try this link.... www.ebay.com/itm/225627842243
      If he doesn't have what you're looking for, try reaching out to him.... he's a good seller.
      For the bearings, you'll need the measurements inner dimensions, outer dimensions and width in millimeters before searching for them.... you can use a caliper.
