Boxing itself as a sport has been on the ropes for ages. Maybe someday someone can turn it around, but this match just reminded people why they tuned out years ago.
MTV 16 & pregnant, Honey boo boo, Kardashians , and now social media influencers. My point is, if there wasn’t a demand and an audience for these types of shows/ entertainment , they would cease to exist, because of the demand there is a significant financial gain. We encourage this type of entertainment.
We all knew what we were getting with Tyson vs Paul long before fight day. It was just supposed to be entertainment, not an actual boxing match. Did anyone really ever think differently?
I love that he mentioned Sugar Ray Leonard ❤ Thank Gawd the doc is covering this. It was like Mike fought seriously for a single minute and then remembered the contract stipulations. He had multiple chances to knock Paul's socks off.

Dr nailed it again. Perfect assessment of the event. In my view, this was nothing but a marketing ploy. Same as Pac V May. The only losers are those who lost their time watching the "event".
mike tyson winning would be a desperate attempt to prove to ourselves that age is just a number, but life has given us a knockout of reality, we're all going to die one day
I stress to my kids and grandkids that any day could be my last in spite of being a healthy strong old guy but they all think I'm going to out live them, you are absolutely right I just tell my loved ones we all have an expiration date and probably closer to mine than they are to theirs. I wouldn't be surprised if Iron Mike gets sick or drops dead soon after pushing his senior body the way he did for almost one year.
What a sad spectacle. The next day I taught a class with my students who are all in their early 20s and they commented on the "fight" saying how Paul won while I just felt sad that they will never know what Mike was like in his prime.
I was for the fight. I wanted to see Tyson. I didn't expect him to be his younger self. As a 61 year old, I know first hand that your strength and endurance declines, even when you are working out and trying to maintain it. Jake was still young in his career and lacked experience, which I thought would be Tysons advantage. I thought the danger was Tyson running out of steam when they got past the 1/2 way mark. But from my vantage point, he seemed to already be in trouble after the first round. He already looked tired and defeated. While I wanted the fight to happen, I also knew that it would likely not be an exciting fight. These types of fights rarely are. It just turned out to be far more boring than even I thought possible. In the end both of them win with large pay outs to both of them.
Don't forget Tyson's loss to "Little Mac", an Italian-American from the Bronx, in 1987. Tyson was defeated in a 3rd-round KO. Tyson was one of the best boxers of all time, but he wasn't unbeatable, even in his prime.
I was literally in tears seeing Mike in that weak state, but after fight I realized this was a planned no knock out. He could have knocked him out round one, 58 yrs old with a bad leg if he wanted.
Dont feel bad. Mike Tyson is a completely different man now with a much smaller ego. At the end of the day, this fight was just two buddies making each other million.
I can't decide which I love more your shirts or your brilliant sarcastic humor, your commentary was way more entertaining than what Netflix called the main event. I think the only truly great thing about that nights fight card were the four warriors who showed what real boxing is all about in the two under card bouts .
I believe Iron Mike could've knocked JP out easily, but Mike nedded the payday and went easy on the idiot. Great coverage, Doc!! Love your sense of humor!!
I watched the entire fight night. Serrano v Taylor was glorious, amazing fight - most watched women's sporting event in history. Jake looked scared in the first round, looked comfortable by the 3rd round. He's incredibly unlikeable and he capitalizes on that "hate". Mike absolutely looked as if he was holding back, only throwing 6-7 punches in 2 rounds. Just wild for a man who is still in peak physique to underperform as much as the legend, Mike Tyson. Also to note, prior to the fight Tyson's net worth was 10 million, and he made 20 million in this fight alone. Definite cash grab. We should all boycott Jake Paul and his exploitation of washed up legends. Edit to add: the truck was driven by Heavy D Sparks and customized by Gas Monkey Garage.
Whatever Jake Paul has done in the past may be questionable, however I think that by attempting to win the fight without seriously injuring an opponent who is old enough to be his father is a class act.
You gotta like Mike. Mr. Tyson has been through a lot, and done some bad stuff, but he’s honest and has tried to clean up. He knows his ego stems from insecurity. He knows he gets crazy. I dunno, people like how honest he is about his humanity. I don’t think he truly cared about this fight. He needs the money to fund what he truly loves, his family and pigeons.
George Foreman deserves more praise for his achievements than Mike Tyson, and Tyson is definitely not g o a t, and doesn't come anywhere close to Muhammad Ali. It's not just about what you do in the ring it's about who you are outside the ring.
Disagree completely. This isnt a good person contest. Mike also became champ young. He was beating men, as a child. He might not be the GOAT. But, that would have nothing to do with what type of person he is. Stop virtue signaling.
I think it's important to recognize that things like GOAT are subjective and people can be great for different things. People go through different things this is nothing new.
Quite frankly, the fight was exactly what I expected it to be. Jake couldn't lock it in and end it. And Mike couldn't hit the gas hard enough to do anything but avoid getting knocked down. Glad they both made the bag...
no one talks about how this was allowed to happen by Jerry Jones. Texas was only state where the state gaming commission would sanction a fight with a 31 year old age gap. Every other state would not allow this fight
No I think alot states would California definitely for money period and if no state does than another country will so they'd rather them take the money its simple not saying i agree or they should but other fights in other states in past I said same thing.
The truth is, a lot of people stood to gain a lot of money by permitting this farce of a fight to take place, and so, the 'fight' took place, and money was made.

BINGO!!!!!
some say he kept biting his gloves, to suppress his killer instinct and remind him its a show. there were times he could have uppercut that fake boy to oblivion but resisted
@@olive0eyes0when I saw him bite and look into Jake's eyes, it was just like my dog grabbing the neck of its toy and shaking it to hell. Mike is a true animal through and through. He knew he could beat Jake into pulp even at his age. He was there for his payday and I see nothing wrong with that, and he gave a new fighter a chance to get some cred and move up with his career, which Mike has retired from just like any regular person does. I'm happy for them both.
Classic Dr. Grande true crime video
That was a brilliant analysis covering all the angles.
Come on now.. When this fight was first announced, didn't everybody on the planet think that this was a cash grab?? Why is this such a shocker... I don't get it??
Dr Grande is top notch: comments section are always straight FIRE
Ok, so I am convinced that Dr. Grande lives OUTSIDE the box! Who'd have thought... Love it! 💜
A cassette player trying to keep up with Spotify! LOL, good one, Dr. Grande. I always enjoy your content.
i am so grateful Gray "insert coin to continue" Hughes made me aware of your channel with his scathing review of your Delphi video. this is right up my alley. so much content to go watch.
Thank you - I ALWAYS enjoy your commentary 😊
I will never even click on any video that has either of those two people on it…besides this one.
Mike Tyson is a legend, Jake is a bum
Hi Dr. Grande. I'm a 61 year old and when I heard Mike was going to fight I raised an eyebrow!!!
Boxing itself as a sport has been on the ropes for ages. Maybe someday someone can turn it around, but this match just reminded people why they tuned out years ago.
Idk I genuinely enjoyed Taylor vs Serrano
sometimes fights are like that. Dr. Grande hates them because they both love trump
@@MicahMicaheltrump is a fraud
MTV 16 & pregnant, Honey boo boo, Kardashians , and now social media influencers.
My point is, if there wasn’t a demand and an audience for these types of shows/ entertainment , they would cease to exist, because of the demand there is a significant financial gain. We encourage this type of entertainment.
We all knew what we were getting with Tyson vs Paul long before fight day. It was just supposed to be entertainment, not an actual boxing match. Did anyone really ever think differently?
Cool shirt Doc!!!
I love that he mentioned Sugar Ray Leonard ❤ Thank Gawd the doc is covering this. It was like Mike fought seriously for a single minute and then remembered the contract stipulations. He had multiple chances to knock Paul's socks off.
Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson was a disgraceful cash grab that wasted 3 hours that I could never get back.
Your part of the problem
@ I know I regret watching that travesty
There's one born every minute.
I spent 18 minutes watching it(wasted) lol, most boring sparring match that Ive ever seen in 40 years
"A truck this large was necessary to carry his ego". That was a knockout joke. You got me. lol🤣
This is not professional boxing though. It's a reality TV show.
I don’t know how anyone believed this was ever a real fight. The stupid slap. It’s insulting to the sport of boxing, call it exhibition but don’t call it boxing.
So I am a boxer and I felt so duped for this fight.
I was really hoping Tyson could show me that humans can over come age.
I’m getting older and it gave me some hope to be a good fighter.
Nope this was sad; and I felt stupid!
@@thomashenshallhydraxis That 20 million dollars..
Title is perfect.
Thank you Dr. Grande, I didn’t watch the fight, but you gave me everything I needed to know in about 10 minutes.
Thank you. I appreciate what you do, and this is spot on.
It was a reminder of our mortality and the ceaseless march of time. 😢
@@daviebaggins no it wasn't;t. Most of us knew Mike was making multi millions from this piece of entertainment.
What a sad spectacle. The next day I taught a class with my students who are all in their early 20s and they commented on the "fight" saying how Paul won while I just felt sad that they will never know what Mike was like in his prime.
Why were you teaching a class on a Sunday? The next day after the fight was just this morning.
That pause in “…the timeline of the… …incident.” was masterful and set the tone for what’s coming perfectly 😂 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I agree. But the fight was actually a 'crime' 😊
yeh i noticed that
I was for the fight.
You speak the truth Dr. Grande
100 Percent the best explanation of what happened!
Don't forget Tyson's loss to "Little Mac", an Italian-American from the Bronx, in 1987. Tyson was defeated in a 3rd-round KO. Tyson was one of the best boxers of all time, but he wasn't unbeatable, even in his prime.
Who’s is this Mac your talking about never heard of this fight before 😳😒
@@israelpatriota A videogame -character.
I was literally in tears seeing Mike in that weak state, but after fight I realized this was a planned no knock out. He could have knocked him out round one, 58 yrs old with a bad leg if he wanted.
He barely threw anything at Paul. He threw less punches in the entire fight than the girls before him did in half a round.
Dont feel bad. Mike Tyson is a completely different man now with a much smaller ego. At the end of the day, this fight was just two buddies making each other million.
@@NoVanity1at least you are worth your salt. I dont expect these people to understand fighters or the game.
Same same.
@@Bucephalus84 Dr. Grande doesn't like them because they love tRump.
They is both mental. Thanks for the professional synopsis. X
I can't decide which I love more your shirts or your brilliant sarcastic humor, your commentary was way more entertaining than what Netflix called the main event. I think the only truly great thing about that nights fight card were the four warriors who showed what real boxing is all about in the two under card bouts .
It was like watching an old nintendo video game, where one of the players chose mike tyson to play but doesnt know how to play...
Great analogy 👍
I believe Iron Mike could've knocked JP out easily, but Mike nedded the payday and went easy on the idiot. Great coverage, Doc!!
Love your sense of humor!!
Agree
Didn't seem to have the leg stability to back his still able punches.
Also agree but damn I would be lying if I said I wasn't really really hoping to see Paul get his ass utterly handed to him
Are u stupid or something, this was purely a cash grab and Mike couldn't hurt him even if he wanted too, he's too old a decrepit
Watch his recent training videos, Tyson has PLENTY of leg strength. Tyson was paid to go very easy on him, it was part of the contract. A total farce.
I don't know why so many people seemed convinced this was a real fight. I presumed it was an 'exhibition bout' and it seemed to go as I'd expected.
Marvelous Marvin Hagler was one of the best as well.
People go through different things this is nothing new.
no... that;s a different thing than boxing. YOu're being a woke type maybe? the best boxer is the best boxer. It's not about wokeness.
Who knew boxing would be the new WWE.
The coined term is "sports entertainment".
The problem is not Jake Paul being a millionaire. The problem is with the people who made Jake Paul a millionaire.
@@phillipmartinez9232 no the state game commissions legally cannot sanction a boxing match with a more than 10 year age gap
Fraud like trump
Spot on. You are great and low key humorous. Love it sir.
Tyson got the money..jake got the win…Netflix got the viewers and you my friend got a lesson for life
The truth is, a lot of people stood to gain a lot of money by permitting this farce of a fight to take place, and so, the 'fight' took place, and money was made.
A fight for money, Nothing is sacred any more, everything is a joke now days. Thank you for honest commentary for this crime.
