When I was a kid in the late 50's we lived on a Navy base in CA. Somewhere nearby was an old dirt road or playground of some sort. My dad, who had the sharpest eyes ever, discovered that there were lots of old marbles left in that area. It was always fun to go with him and dig out marbles from the dirt. He made my brother and me little leather bags to hold the marbles we found. Great memories!
I'd snag that Better Homes and Garden cookbook. My son and I have been quarreling over my mom's for years. I have it in my custody, but he's the better cook, lol.
Many parts of Canada have had an unusually above average hot, dry summer and now it is raining and threats of severe thunderstorms and tornados where I live. The temperature here is expected to get down to 8 C (about 46 F) and 5 C (about 42 F) tomorrow night and I live close to the Canada/US border so Alex is much further North. Unusually cold for this time of year as well.
Hi Alex... I do not allow any newer (contemporary) items in my ninety yr old house and all my vehicle's are over twenty yrs... Only newer items are underpants, jeans, and some shoes. Thanks for these enjoyable videos.
Cat’s eyes were my favorite marbles ! The piggy cookie jar is super adorable and I think she will be a bigger ticket item than you think. I bet that your profit from this is far more than the $700 Canadian you think. The squirrel walking stick is going to go for at least $50 plus a bag of walnuts 🐿
The two Chet Atkins albums went by quickly. Chet Atkins was a guitarist's guitar player and influenced many guitar players in the Merle Travis style of guitar playing (fingerpicking style, kind of a steady thumb on the bass strings, and adding harmony and melody notes at the same time on the one guitar).....The guy on the Max Webster album is Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell who also performed the song Patio Lanterns. According to the back of the album also playing on that album are the three members of the Canadian band Rush: Neil Peart, Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee...That large coffee tin said 'Nabob Irradiated Coffee'. Now if they used 'Irradiated' as an adjective it could mean 'bright', but I wonder when they started irradiating fruits and vegetables to rid them of insects?
My sister and her husband bought their first TV console in 1952-53 (I think) and they proudly displayed a black panther light on top of it. I have always wondered what became of that light. Yeah I was all but 12 years old at the time!
Alexander, I am sure you already know but some marbles are worth a pretty penny.:-) Winter must be on the way since you are wearing jackets and coats.:-) We have at least of week of 90's here.( And of course humidity)
That bellows camera takes 120 film that is still made and there is are places you can get it still developed if not local there are online companies that you can send the film to and get it developed!
Aaahh, memories of laying in the field shooting marbles into dirt holes with the neighborhood kids. Had to be so good for us to be in the dirt, up in trees, or in a creek, getting fresh air, sunshine (and rain) almost all day every day! Never once went to the Dr as a kiddo & no allergies or flu to this day. As a mom, tried to do the same with my kiddos, and now my grand children. Nowadays so many kids (and adults) just stare at a rectangle inside almost all day. Well, going to get off this computer now...
Check those marbles with a black light. If they glow, they're worth more. And that Silvertone looks pretty awesome! You just don't see those in that condition anymore. Depending on the model and year, it could pay for the entire haul. The pots/pickups etc. are all workable, but the top and neck looked new. Nice find.
So many of your videos lately are bringing back memories of my dad. :) He used a walking stick, and also fed a squirrel that he called Herman in the schoolyard nearby - the kids would look out the windows and watch him. If he was still with us I'd get that squirrel walking stick in a second.
I had a business selling cues. Those walking stick cues people always seem to think they are worth a mint. They were mass produced in the Philippines, play terrible and are rarely straight. Worth about $20 for the novelty.
"Max Webster"- Kim Mitchell is the dude in tights. On that album is the song "Battle Scar" with members of Rush. Geddy Lee shares vocals with Kim. It's very 1980. Kim Mitchell's song "Go For Soda" was a popular tune in the states in the mid 80's. also "Patio Lanterns". It appears Kim Mitchell has shorn his locks...and ditched the spandex.
The guitarist in my band turned me onto Max Webster, weird in a fantastic way. Prog but with pop hooks. If I ever come across that album on vinyl I'll buy it in a heartbeat.
When we auctioned the content of my parents' home we had "feed sack" towels. One of the bidders pointed them out. They were worth quite a bit more than we realized.
Some can reach into the thousands pretty easily...studios buy them because no matter how good the signal processing chain is at modeling vintage guitar sounds, it's just not the same.
Tube amps are very cool . I use my 1957 Fender Blues amp here and it sounds great still today . I bought it in 1987. I play my 1964 Gibson Byrdland Stereo caster and my 1968 Fender Stratocaster .
Loved marbles when I was in elementary school back in the '60's. Cat's eye's, puries, and steelies bring back memories. Living on Lake Michigan there was lots of sand around our school. We used to dig a 'pot' and each player would scatter the same amount of marbles around the pot. Would take turns shooting by holding the middle finger with the thumb and flicking the marble, if your marble shot did not go in the pot it was the other guy's turn. Whoever put the last marble in the pot won them all.
16:34 Broken ear bud?? lol didn't know they had them back then. 18:39 we brought those cue sticks back from the west pacific in the late sixties, they became popular in the US in the middle 70's.
The old cookbooks are really neat .The Betty Crocker one for example changed through the years and I'm so glad I gave my moms 1950s edition to my daughter.
Fantastic song from the album "Universal Juveniles" from 1980 by Max Webster. Although it's credited as Max Webster, it guest stars all three members from Rush! With Kim Mitchell sharing vocals with Geddy Lee. You can tell too because the song has a Rush feel to it, definitely something all Rush fans should listen to.

I do come across a lot of cool stuff myself but I don’t have a shop. I just purchased a storage which had about 3000 Pokémon cards which many first editions and old hologram cards. Paid $80.00 for the unit. No one paid attention to the mid century wooden chairs but I did. OMGoodness the cookie jar is so cute!!

The old Lego sets would come in single colors with a variety of sizes, and some would come with the fat base plates. They're the kind that I played with. Ones where you actually had to use your imagination.

The Lego looks like a mix of early 60s and later 70s. The colour of the white changes with age. The really old stuff e en has notches in the side so that you can slide in doors and windows. That's what mine had in the early 60s before they made them dimpled like the rest of the bricks. My first camera was my father's wartime bellows camera. I later saved up my pocket mondy, and bought one of the first model Kodak Instamatic cameras It cost me 7shillings and 6 pence (pre decimal UK currency)
Those records in the Sunlight boxes probably smelled better than the ones my husband bought from the smokers…. Whew! They STANK 😫😭 We gently cleaned the covers with baby wipes and… it worked :) Otherwise, they were NOT staying Led Zep or not!
I had that Max Webster album, it's not bad, yellow onesie not withstanding. ;-) Especially if you are a RUSH fan. Geddy Lee comes in on vocals on either CHECK or BATTLE SCAR, I can't remember which one. It's pretty hard rockin...
@@utubepunk Thank you. Had to scrounge shelving to display them all. Mom only had a few on display in the house. The rest were in many many boxes stored in the basement. I actually also bought an '88 TOYOTA box truck to haul them all in 1 trip. We were making multiple 3 hour round trips picking up a few when we could. Dad is still finding them at the house too. He brought 1 out the other day and said "This 1 was in the back of a closet." Now they're on display on the shelves in my basement. OMG The Babies! I went to their concert in Arizona many many moons ago.
Those records in the Sunlight boxes probably smelled better than the ones my husband bought from the smokers…. Whew! They STANK 😫😭 We gently cleaned the covers with baby wipes and… it worked :) Otherwise, they were NOT staying Led Zep or not!
" Do you have Prince Albert in the can? well, let him out "
Irradiated coffee...
Well, that'll brighten up your morning...
With a nice, healthy atomic green glow...
The ball on the end of the pool cue is where you store the chalk. I have one similar to that one. Nice find!
I had that Max Webster album, it's not bad, yellow onesie not withstanding. ;-) Especially if you are a RUSH fan. Geddy Lee comes in on vocals on either CHECK or BATTLE SCAR, I can't remember which one. It's pretty hard rockin...
When my Mom passed in 2019, my wife inherited her cookie jars collection. Almost 1,000 of them.
Ouch. Sorry for your loss. Nearly a 1000 cookie jars sounds rough.

Thank you.
He brought 1 out the other day and said "This 1 was in the back of a closet."
Now they're on display on the shelves in my basement.
My brother and sister occasionally go down there just to look at them.
Guess to feel closer to Momma.
@@colonel9990 I'm so sorry for your loss but, what a wonderful story.

Thank you
She must have had some really interesting ones ! What a delightful way to remember your mom every time you pass by them and see another one and wonder where she got that one from.
