I met Mick in the 80's...He was the only member that stopped and signed our shirts... he spoke guitars with my old guitar player for a few minutes. Totally genuinely humble guy.
Just wanted to say to Messrs. Huzansky and Friedman... thank you guys so much. I joined the channel when you had 2.6K subscribers, and your honest, unfiltered, and decidedly WHOLESOME and real content tells a story of grassroots-level growth that is truly inspiring... that and Mick Mars was the absolute resident virtuoso of Motley Crue for forty years, with Tommy Lee (despite having the perpetual mental acuity and temperament of a 12 year-old, but hey- that's how the best drummers often are, lol) being his only other peer in that band... anyhoo- thank you.
Enjoyed every minute of it! Mick is an absolute legend and a huge influence on me, also one of the reasons why I was / am addicted to Kramer guitars! Kramer needs to give Mick a signature! He definitely deserves it!
My ears pricked up too - Time stamp 18:40 (I STILL HAVE THAT AMP) 18:55 (NO - for sure No ) again from 42:18 (@ 42:45 - he says I STILL HAVE THAT AMP) no question MICK still has the Dr Feel good Amp
Great show, Marc. This was great & informative. Mick Mars is awesome. I always love hearing what other guitar players that I love have in there guitars or amps.
Btw, I was the second guy in Canada to have a guitar with a Floyd Rose on it. Alex Lifeson being the first. When I called the number in the back of the Guitar Player magazine, it was 11 in the morning where Floyd lived. He was sleeping and his mom answered the phone. When I finally connected with Floyd, he was working on the tooling for second engineering change for the first iteration of the non fine tuner bridge. I wanted to order a bridge but I thought that it would be better to order a new Strat with it installed. It was a black usa made strat and I had them plain down the fingerboard and install large frets. I have more info if you like. Cheers!
Since I don’t have the $$ for a super chat I’m not even bummed my question was answered - this show was great. Is Mick in for a part 2😂 Thanks tonetalk
Great to see and hear Mick, you guys have a great pod cast. One time Dave let's talk Max Butler amps from East Lansing -Michigan, I had one picked it up at huber and breeze 13 and grossbeck.
Friedman Mick Mars amp please. Got the JJ and the JEL and the Steve Stevens 4x12 cab loaded w/ V30s and greenbacks…. Need the Friedman MM. thank you all for all that you do!
That was a killer conversation thanks fellas!I put that one up there with the Jake hangout! Mick is a freaking legend, such a killer guitarist and seems really down to earth. I love hearing all of the gear talk too definitely took some notes! Keep up the great show!
Shout at the Devil is the first album I ever purchased (way back when) after having heard Dr. Feelgood. I’ve always loved Mick’s playing, long before I ever picked up a guitar. Thank you for this episode!
I really enjoyed this and Mick is the only reason I don't hate Motley Crue. From where I sit the other guys are epic douche bags. Mick is too good for those guys, and as soon as I learned from the show about the existence of The Other Side Of Mars, I quickly ordered the LP. I'd sure enjoy him giving the true dirt on the dirt bags but I suppose maybe there are important reasons not to go there. Mick exudes class anyway and maybe it's better not to know. I hope Mick gets a nice royalty on every profitable breath of work the bums in his former band do. Best to Mick and I hope he's back again on tone talk.
Awesome Interview! Some interesting tidbits...Mick likes V30's, but back in the day used early Marshall's with the Electro-Harmonix LPB-1Booster on albums like Shout at the Devil or Too Fast for Love with Celestion 25w Greenbacks! Mick had 4 Jose amps and were used at the US Festival in 1983 and after. Mick sold one of the Jose amps to Richard Fortus, but Mick said it was NOT the Dr. Feelgood amp and was a "cleaner" one. I was surprised at the capacity of the Pontiac Silverdome. Dave was suggesting 80,000 and I thought it was more like 40,000, but yeah, his memory is much better and when he seen The Who in 1981, the capacity of the stadium is in fact 80,311!! I've seen Motley a handful of times, always great. Miss the original lineup, but get it and sometime in life we have to turn the pages. I remember back in 1983 moving from Detroit proper to West Dearborn and taking either the 185 or 200 bus from Dearborn to Detroit for a May festival and had my ghetto blaster with me and walking down alleys BLATING Shout At The Devil! I also have PLAYED Mick's white Strat that is one of his main guitars! I had one of my 1972 Les Paul Customs into the local luthier that is world reknown and he just so happened to have the guitar in Mick's tech sent him to work on. I was blessed the luthier pulled it out and let me plug it in and PLAY it!!! There is one tell-tale thing that I don't know if is common knowledge, but when I was checking the guitar out and flipped it around, Mick had a large sticker on the BACK that said "PIMP"!!! lol Love it. Love Mick Thanks for all of the music and memories and again, very blessed to play that guitar which has been used on albums and concerts on stage throughout the years!! :) Richard Fortus - Mick Mars - Pete Thorn Demo link - th-cam.com/video/rlfr4xq2ZzY/w-d-xo.html
Marc, you gotta check out the self-titled Crue album with Corabi, it’s actually really good! Sad it didn’t do well because of shifting tastes/trends and that Vince wasn’t on it….. even if you’re not crazy about it, I can guarantee you it’s better than anything they put out afterwards. That’s truly their last good album
At 21:08 Mick talks about his early gear sound but I can't figure out if he says "except for the midrange" or "set for the midrange". Can anyone help me understand what he's saying?
Love the show, no I was not there. On the Pete Thorn episode with Fortis, that’s what Fortis was told when he bought it directly from Mars. There was a Fortis Model that was made from another amp manufacturer who duplicated the amp also. Not trying to make a thing out of it just repeating what was said on the Pete Thorn episode. Also if you did notice Dave Friedman’s response which was simply OH…….
Great show having Mars on. An extremely underrated guitar player. Made so many great songs over the years. Also great interview with Brian Young from DLR band. Very entertaining
@@HighHunting38 Dave said "Oh!" because from what he has hinted to in the past it sounds like he was going to make a Friedman replicas of that amp, but if it wasn't the Dr Feelgood amp then there's no point now.
Mick is an incredible guitarist, his solo album proved he could do it without MC. Chris is also a great producer, thought he did a great job co-producing Flat Black's debut album with Jason Hook.

No disrespect intended. However, a member of Motley falls on 'hard times' in the mid to late 90s, after all their success. Nope, that's not hard times that's being as completely financially irresponsible as possible.
No disrespect but then you disrespect him. Do some research before you count other people’s money. Mick has been divorced and has kids…life isn’t that simple
I met Mick in the 80's...He was the only member that stopped and signed our shirts... he spoke guitars with my old guitar player for a few minutes. Totally genuinely humble guy.
God bless Mick. What a lovely, gentle, humble guy. Always had great tone. Thanks for getting him on here guys.
No Mick. No Motley Crue. No matter who’s filling in on guitar. Mick was the sound of Motley. The end.
Mick thank for sharing your talent and creativity. Wonderful interview.
Dear Marc, thank you so much for arranging this fantastic interview. I'm very grateful to you and Dave. Mick is a big influence and my guitar hero.
The sound of my teenage years! Thank you, Mick❤

Mick is definitely my favorite member of the Crue!! The musical mastermind!!!
Thank you thank you thank you for having Mick on! Amazing time for a great guitar player!

The look on Marc and Dave’s faces when Mick says the Fortus amp is NOT the Dr Feelgood amp…priceless

Love love Mick, love Tone Talk, so glad this exists. Also Marc your video looks awesome today!
Thanks!!
Every guitar part in Dr. Feelgood is amazing :D thank you guys, its Mick ******* Mars!!
The self titled Motley Crue album was awesome. In my opinion, Micks best work.

Mick ....you rock 🤟p.s. Alaska misses you bro!
I knew Chris from the local scene in Santa Clarita when we were younger, he’s a beast of a drummer and guitarist. Blew my mind when I saw his band.
Wobbly Pops are Canned or bottled drinks (they pop when you open them) that make you wobbly when you drink enough of them. 😂
Mick is such a cool dude. Living legend.
MICK MARS, best episode! 💜Not the Dr Feelgood amp, haha! 👌🏻
Thank you Tone Talk!

Love Mick Mars Motley Crue is nothing without Mick.Mars we love you always Mick Mars
Dave, will you please just offer to make a custom Mick amp? I don't think Mick would ask.
Mick is so chill - a legend ⭐️
Nice to not have Tommy and Nikki dominating the conversation. We've always wanted to hear what Mick had to say
great one guys! LEGEND~!
The best interview with Mick, it's all about the gear and not M.C . B.S. Mick looks and sounds happy.

This was awesome. Motley Crue was my first concert in 1985.

i think mick ,ars means the celestion g12h 30 watt not the v 30 he is talking about a 30 watt speaker the vintage 30 is a 60watt speaker
I've heard ppl make the "V30 is 30 watts" mistake before but I think you're right about Mick meaning the other speakers.
Mick has always had the fattest humbuckered strat into a Marshall sound ever! Fabulous player!
