The sheer amount of culture that Matt and Shelby have consumed and can recall at any moment is staggering. Every reference was perfectly placed. The American Psycho and Smeagol bits had me writhing. 11/10 just incredible stuff.
It makes no sense how Shelby is able to always find a relevant meme for every video game scenario. I am pretty sure she was born with the ability to allude and reference pop culture video clips as some kind of super power.

The part about going the obviously wrong way during a mission cause surely there's great loot there and then showing FF16 giving you two gil (it was freaking steelsilk for me) hit so hard. I regretted it every time I strayed off the path in that game cause it wasn't worth it and yet I still kept doing it anyway.

Yeah, I thought the MJ missions in Spider-Man 2 were fine until it occurred to me that they could have added in more Venom missions or heck even just more Spider-Man content instead. No hate on MJ, I just opened up the game to play as a spider monkey on crack, not a human with tazer

The thing I love the most about this game is, as Shelby pointed out, the side content isn't too much. Yeah, it's kind of the same old repetitive side content that every other open-world game has these days, but Spider-Man 2 doesn't fill its map with it. Sure, the Sandman memories are boring and repetitive, but there's only 12 of them. By the time it gets repetitive, you've already done them all. Most games nowadays have like 50 of the same boring task. Spider-Man too had a big variety of side tasks and only had about a dozen of them in each category, so that it never really became boring and you could go about doing the side tasks in-between missions and it never got boring to me. And as Shelby said, you could unlock everything by doing this, no need for grinding. Well to be fair I did actually have to grind tech parts for half an hour at the very end of the game to unlock the rest of the costumes, but the traversal is so fun that I didn't even mind doing it that much. People say the game being only 25-ish hours is too little. I disagree. Games today usually have like 30 hours of content in them spread out over 100 hours of playtime and it gets super boring and repetitive. Spider-Man 2 is a game with 25 hours of content spread out over 25 hours of playtime. Exactly how it should be. And yeah, for backseaters this is absolutely a perfect game, another classic narrative-driven masterpiece from Sony.
