My neighbour came round and started hammering on my door at four in the morning yesterday, at four in the bloody morning! Lucky I was up at the time playing my pipes.....
I am a classical pianist, but I was captivated by this performance. I have never heard the pipes played with such verve before, and so in tune. Amazing. Bravo Fred! I enjoyed the flute and the Irish pipes too, with chords!

Fred takes the rank of master, and embellishes it with such a sense of humor & raw & honest down to earthiness that we really should consider another title befitting such a person..

I could listen to him playing the various instruments all day. i really liked the Flute tune, was is called Reverend John? What kind of flute is that too if anyone knows?
Saw him in concert in San Diego tonight sponsored by the House of Scotland at Balboa Park. A great performance. He told a lot of the same stories and jokes!
I’d love the music to some of these, not sure where to find them, does anyone know on each of Fred’s collections what they’re called or where available. The whistle tune at 23:45 is awesome! Same with the 6/4 Uillean Pipes tune.

How do you know it’s so easy? Have you blown his pipes? Genuine question. In my opinion, easy reads are the best. That way you can fully concentrate of the music. Some of the world’s best pipers blew easy reeds. John Mc Donald of Inverness is said to have blown a very easy reed. Donald McPherson played with an easy reed. These are two I know about. Surely piobaireachd players don’t play with anything other than easy reeds?
