- From fierce battles to road trips with Arya, Rory McCann looks back at his time playing Sandor “The Hound” Clegane on Game of Thrones in this extended edition of Season 8’s “The Cast Remembers” behind-the-scenes series.
The Hound was the coolest Character on the show!
THX Rory McCann
I need a spinoff show with Sandor, Thoros and Dondarrion. Just drinking and talking shit.
and the only one not ruined by season 8
Amazing character but if we talk about coolest one that will be a Bron...
@@misiknuo bron was cool but he had zero character arc. He was exactly same guy at the end as beginning.
The man has no name
The idea of Rory McCann pulling up next to you on a motorbike while wearing his hound helmet is beyond comprehension.
Nah with a bicycle😂
id lose my shit bro pure fangirl mode lmao
Oh I'd love it!
No, it isn't.
Give this man a lifetime supply of free chicken! He earned it!
Ill take 2 lifetime supplies of chickens!
B c sip
I'll take all the chickens
Guinness and chicken
Get him a Nando's card
Rory did a terrific job bringing humanity to a really nasty character. What depth!
The scenes with him traveling the countryside with Arya were probably some of my favorite in the show.
His character had a great arc thru the series. But he made it amazing. It wouldn't have had the same effect without him.
By far my two favorite players. Rory& Maisie if Sean Connery had a badass nefew that would be Rory.lol
I thought the Hound was nice? I did not watch the tv show, just some youtube clips haha.
@@riase He's a complex character who evolves over time, with one of the most compelling and satisfying arcs in the whole show. He could probably be described as heroic by the end, though he'd likely say, "I'm no fucking hero" before tucking into some chicken
I really wished that the Hound could've survived and went on that trip with Arya to West of Westeros. That would be a great spinoff.
I wish they could have just left the Hound alone. He finally found peace. The writers dragging him back into the story when two randos showed up and inexplicably slaughtered all his companions was just shitty.
I agree that would have been great to see.
I refuse to admit to myself that this happened lmao. Can we all pretend Sandor was the secret Targaryan instead of John? Just so he stumbles out of the fire giggling at how he was immune to fire all along?
(I'm very aware how stupid that is lmao, literally half of his face was melted off by fire. BUT LET A MAN DREAM)
not really it was good combo when arya was a little girl with anger problems and couldnt really defend herself now shes like a badass and not child-like i dont think its as good as a combo as seen in the last season the contrast just isnt the same
@@aliteralfart3819 even if he was immune to the fire the fall would have killed him and he would have been 85+ percent blind for the rest of his life
"Fuck the water, Bring me wine" - Probably the impression I do the most during the pandemic.
Oh yeah ! I use that screenshot quote as a desktop wallpaper in fact.
Bring me chicken... in second thought 2 chickens....
THIS!!! I am learn this is very bad for me but that is very much how I feel a lot of the time
"There is no safety ya dumb bitch!"
Probably the impression I do the most during the pandemic hahahaha
@@TJ-fe7rr A lesson not yet learned, evidently. Thumbs up to you.
"You think The Hound is the best character on the show?"
"I do. And I'm tired of pretending he's not"
Hound, Joffrey, and Tyrion all spend some time as my #1, just depends on the day.
The Hound was my favorite character. And as much as I wanted Clegane Bowl to happen, I can’t believe he didn’t cut his losses and just get out of there when it became obvious Gregor couldn’t be killed. To have Sandor realize he’d basically already won because Gregor was just this undead thing would have been better in my eyes. When he and Arya were traveling together it was my favorite part of the show. I wish he’d gone exploring with Arya at the end.
Pretty much the only ending that Sandor could have was that though. To complete overcoming his fear of fire he first saves Arya at Winterfell and then jumps into the blaze in order to completely defeat his brother. Too many characters lived as it is honestly. The whole final season was trash but they at least got this ending right.
I'd hoped that he'd be one of the survivors at the end. The characters with the most good karma/honorability were The Hound and Brienne. I'd hoped they might get together after the fighting was over and start an orphanage or chicken farm or something. I suppose you could put other names on that list : Pod, Ned, etc.
@@grokeffer6226 The Hound would just eat all of the chickens.
@@stevenmannion7479 After so much war, there would be a lot of orphans, and a lot of farms that weren't producing any food. Children would need to learn skills that they might have learned from their parents. Masonry/construction, animal husbandry. The road to recovery would involve getting back to producing enough food to feed the people, and enough people to produce the food. Of course, that's a bit more detail than is needed, but it's hard to quit obsessing about the details. The show tended to draw you in and leave you hungry for more.
@The Dark Forest Thank you. This still hurts. LOL
so no one is gonna talk about how sweet and gentle Rory McCann seems to be?!
Narp
Yes! My heart melted!
@@engasal Yaarp
He is such a beautiful human. You can tell not only by hearing him talk, but hearing everyone who meets him gushing about how wonderful he is. Such a gem. ❤❤
@@engasal Yarp.
This guy! Loved his character. He made me love the C word.
Haha I can relate
Yes he made me love the word "Chicken" as well.
C word?
@@tedmosby3942 yes. Chickens.
you'd like Deadwood then...lol
Sandor without a doubt had some of the best lines in the entire show
"You gonna die for some chickens"
"someone is"
"We will meet again, sandor"
"I fucking hope not"
"He killed Lommy"
"What the fuck is a Lommy"
"Fuck Joffrey, Fuck the King"
"Fuck the water, Give me wine"
“You know who’s coming for you. You’ve always known”
You forgot my favourite; "Lots of people name their swords." "Lots of CUNTS."
lots of people name their swords. lots of c*nts. Lol I agree some of the best lines on the show
Oh yes, and there were plenty more.
It’s fuck the water BRING me wine
The Hound really was a great character. No hypocrisy, no lies, and he really was like a father figure to Arya after Ned's death. Loved that duo lmao.
My favorite scene in GoT is the entire 'chicken scene'. The most raw line of the entire show is in there, delivered by the Hound.
"You lived your life for the king. You're really gonna die for some chickens?"
"Someone is."
Rule number one should be : You don't mess with a hungry Dog's chickens. It is known.
me too, probably watched that scene the most, and it's after the bushes scene - "needle" ... "who's needle?" ... "my sword" ... "of course, you named your sword" ... "lots of people name their swords!" ... "lots of cunts."
@@ryanbonner25 LOL HE HAD SO MANY GREAT LINES
If you keep talking, I'm gonna have to eat every fucking chicken in here.
Colonel Sandor's chicken.
“Your friend’s dead, and Meryn Trant’s not, because Meryn Trant had armor and a big fucking sword” Amazing job Rory 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Love what Rory brought to The Hound. He was one of my favorite characters to watch. He brought a complexity to the character that made us fall in love with him. He was the realist character for sure. "The lord of Light will wonder why he brought u back 19 times just to have me chuck you over this fuckin wall" One of my favorite lines from the hound.
Rory McCann you were built for this role. Easily my favourite character in GoT and high on my list of best characters portrayed for a generation. The anger, the sad eyes, the honesty in despair; just absolutely brilliant. Well played sir and thank you.
It's 3/22/24.
I didn't start watching G.O.T. till the 2021 pandemic.
I'm just seeing this for the first time.
The Hound is on my list of favorite characters.
I loved every single thing about this.
Absolutely loved the character development of the hound and Rory was perfect for the part. Such a great character!
The Scooby and Scrappy Doo comparison had me ROLLING! So accurate.
😂 Yup, hilarrriously-accurate comparison 😂
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Yes! I feel dumb for not realizing it sooner. So good!
same
Damn this sure looks like a great redemption story with an amazing, satisfying ending that ties all the characters together nicely. Im so hyped.
It has the greatest ending of all time
With the source material well updated in time and two competent directors too!
hahahahaha
The writer of the books will surely finish the last books too
His portrayal of a giant with a big heart is to the point
Thank you Rory for everything. Every scene he was in was so memorable whether it was eating chicken, drinking wine, “fuck”ing the king, shooting the shit with Arya or splitting a man in two! Such a great character arc and one of my favourites from Thrones ❤️
Sandor Clegane, one of my favourite characters in Game of Thrones, Rory McCann did a splendid job playing the role. I didn't like the hound during the first episodes of season 1. I still regret that even today, how wrong I was.
Happy GoT anniversary to you all my fellow Song Of Ice And Fire fans 🍷
“Lots of people name their swords.”
“Lots of cunts.”
One of my favorite exchanges from one of my favorite scenes in the whole show.
I don't remember it verbatim, but my favorite line is when Adebisi from Oz talks about the cock merchant. Another one is when Theon is giving that speech and then gets knocked out. "I didn't want to interrupt him. It was a good speech."
Rory is brilliant!!
I tell you what....if I'm making a movie that calls for a villain or a hero or any character in between.... I'm calling this guy's agent first. This guy has an amazing presence. The man can really act and he brought an astonishing amount of humanity and complexity to what was one of the greatest characters in TV history. Great job Rory McCann.
Amen
He's grateful for being on a show as great as this and doesn't really realize he was one of the best characters of the show.
I think THE best, ever over Tyrion, Bronn and Arya.
100% agree, easily the best character, not even close imo.
He probably realises but is not going to brag about it. I agree one of the best characters and a superb job of work bringing him to the screen.
@@itiswhatitis3198just not tyrion. U can debate the TV show tyrion but book tyrion is the most well written character in all of asoiaf
@@YELLLLOOOOWLOOOOOOONG I like that the audience can see the complete turnaround of the Hound's character in the show. I'm the book he just goes off quietly in the night and we assume he might still be alive somewhere. He is the epitome of the antihero, and you don't get too many great portrayals of that in fiction in my opinion. Tyrion's downfall for me is that he loves outsmarting others but still gets outsmarted in crucial moments. He is a very kind and loveable character, but I hate how everyone is constantly belittling him, (pun intended), and it gets really tiresome after a while. Yes, it is one of the main drives for his character, but he is just not as dynamic for me. I love Arya's story much better. I was her as a child/teenager, and she is written very realistically.
In my version of the final season, the Hound survives his showdown with his brother and becomes queensguard to Sansa after she offers him a purpose to serve when he doesn't know what to do next with himself!!!
He became my favourite character. He always had the best lines.
He was absolutely brilliant as the Hound and my favorite character. The “road trip” with Arya was great!
One of the best characters by far
This Man did such a fantastic job bringing his character to life
The Hound and Arya relationship that formed as they traveled together was fantastic!
The Hound was one of my favorite characters. Cheers to you, Rory!
Ugh what a dude. He’s so kind, such a genuine soul. I’ve gotten into GoT so late but it’s absolutely better late than never because people like Rory are just incredible and I’d be remised to have skipped past this franchise.
The Hound was my favorite character. His lines were f***in gold!
"i dont think ill ever be on another show as big and great as this"
there never will be another show as great as this
Until there is haha
one of the many reasons why i've rewatched the show multiple times now since it finished! THE BEST
Rory McCann is truly funny. No wonder he was cast as The Hound. Brilliant work.
Its been 10 years and I still can’t get enough!
coming from roles, where the only lines were "yarp" and "narp", to this, is simply great ^^
Such depth! You are responsible for some of the happiest, saddest, funniest, and most badass moments on the show! Truly, well done! Thank you for doing such a good job entertaining those of us who watched the series.
Hound's death hit me most. It became more emotional for me than I thought it would. That too in season 8. Great character acted superbly by Rory.
I love you Rory.. you did an amazing work!! You rocks!!
Love love love love him ❤️ My favourite character. He's amazing. Thank you Rory
The Hound: Big, scarred killer who’d kill you as soon as you looked at him..
1:16 Rory: ‘Hello!’
This man was an amazing character, please put this man in many more films
One of my fav characters by far ! He played the hound so well .. the broken man was one of my favorite episodes
My favorite character!
Yours were the scenes I waited for, and loved the story-arcs that focused on the Hound. For me, your character represented reality in all its grittiness.
Loved the character! great, amazing acting! Thank you Rory McCann 💋
One of the best in the whole cast! Which is really saying something!!!
*F**king King !*
*A hound protecting Wolfs✨*
My favourite character in the show! 😭💕
I miss him so much!
Im grateful for YOU Rory ! You brought Sandor to life for us in this story we could lose ourselves in . ❤️❤️
He is and will be my favorite character.
I think The Hound was the best character on the entire show - he had the best character development and was one of the only ones not to be completely ruined in later seasons. He brought the character to life in a way that made you realise that the hard exterior was a front developed from trauma, but he did actually genuinely care for what was right and wrong deep down. Glad he got the opportunity to really show off what he can do as an actor.
One of the only character to have a satisfying end to his character in season 8.
Theon and Jorah
Nope. It would have been better if he were done with revenge. But instead they made Cleganebowl a thing and chucked them both off the balcony. Disgusting.
@@justinhamilton8647 Wanted to kill his brother. Hated his brother will all his being and even if it cost him is own life he wanted him dead. Compared to 90% of all the other character endings in season 8.....his was one of the few satisfying ones or at the least not a disaster.
No. Just no. D & D gave in to a meme. A fucking meme.
@@necromorph1109 His brother was already dead. Making the Hound's death completely stupid and pointless.
You watched 8 seasons of this show and still didn't catch on to how empty and pointless revenge is?
Yikes.
My favorite character !! All his travel was so complete !! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
4:44 The fight between The Hound and... Brienne of FUCKING Tarth
Nailed it
Loved this character. And what a regular guy. Kudos Rory McCann -- thank you for the fantastic entertainment.
- “Where you going?”
- “Some place isn’t burning “
Such a great character. So well played. Well done Rory! 👏
I remember my daughter going on and on at me to watch GOT..finally gave in and wasn’t disappointed! Neither was she when she found out I went to school with Kate Dickie (Lysa Arryn) and lived in same village as Rory McCann (The Hound) for a couple of years before he got into acting 🤣🤣🤣. Small world 🌎
Awesome series 👍🏻💙🏴
Hands down best character! They only character story they didn’t ruin and the last scene with him and his brother was perfect. I actually cried for him! Rory Did an amazing job and i just want to say thank you.
My favorite character in GOT! So much so I based a D&D character off him!
Hell yeah Eggsy
ONE OF MY FAVESSS
rory plays badass yet secret softie SO WELL and as someone who grew up in poverty after hearing his story it made me like him so much more. Probably my fav character.
I honestly fell in love with the hound. My favourite character, easy
Rory you're such an amazing talent!!!!!!!
I love how they call this the 'extended edition' of "The Cast Remembers" but it's just the same commentary but with a few more clips from the show
O my goodness what a kind man. Rory McCann you are brilliant. Thank you for all you do. I'd go anywhere with you.
I love this man! He is an incredibly talented actor. The Hound....greatest character in GOT. The connection developed between him and Arya was a work of great writing portrayed by great actors! (course can't forget his red-headed friend- loved the two of them in their scene together)
Such a great Actor! One of the BEST characters ever!
Favourite character Ever x
The Hound is a 100% my favorite and the best character of them all in my opinion.
This. Guy. Fucking. Killed. It.
From the first episode to the last, Rory Mcann did an amazing job. The hound is arguably the most subtle, complex character in the entire series and he nailed it.
What a brilliant actor!! Cant tell you enough how much I enjoyed watching him on GOT!!!
He’s so very handsome irl
What a part he played absolutely outstanding...definitely my favourite character
The Hound - Most interesting character and best character Arc on the entire show. Rory did a brilliant job
One of my favorite characters.,. Omg. The language is spot on
A decade of GOT the most legendary show📺 on 📺TV
💥🔥🐉🐲🐉🔥💥
Superb character and stellar performance thank you Rory McCann!
The Hound and Arya was my fav. characters.
I miss GOT so much 😭
He is gem, truly a heart of gold
Him, arya, and pre s8 Jon Snow are probably my favorite characters.
My absolute favorite character. I ❤ The Hound
My favorite character on the show. Tyrion and Arya are great, but The Hound turned out to be my favorite by the end of it all.
Love Rory so much! Sandor is 1 of my top 5 of the series
The best character
Number one favorite character in the show. Great performance
He is so humble
His voice that he did for the show is amazing I love it
This is mad! this is my first time watching Rory out of character, and it's bizarre!! He's so gregarious and humble, like what!!! lol
My top three favorite on the show. My top favorite fictional warrior ever. Rory you FING nailed it.
I think that Sandor Clegane was the character that I could most relate to in the series. Mr. McCann and Alfie Allen both had great performances, but never received nominations. Peter Dinklage bogarted them all. Still, I hoist my flagon in due respect.
Ol Pete Dink
what a lovely interview!
Rory seems so happy. He’s like an oversized kid. He was born to be an actor!
Very well played character with great arc, one of the best in the show.
He has never seen the series.
rory ❤️
