His name is Joffrey Baratheon, first of his name, illegitimate heir to the iron throne, king of the Andals, ruler of the seven kingdoms, protector of the realm,
I feel like he’s such a fantastic actor and principled person that he would never go for a superhero movie. He’s far too talented for that kind of genre. Unless he went took a ‘Joaquin Phoenix in Joker’ direction. That would be bomb af. GOT was full of amazing actors, but Jack as Joffrey, Charles Dance as Tywin, and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion took the cake for me. Their acting transcended the characters and brought them to life. Them Lannisters, man. When a character is that level of hate-able, you know the actor is doing an amazing job. Tywin wasn’t even despisable, he was such an impressive character in the show, and that was all Charles Dance. That scene between him and Joffrey at the steps of the throne was hands down, in the top three greatest moments of acting in the entire seasons. Tyrion at trial was another. And probably Tyrion seeing the destruction Dany brought and finding his dead siblings. As much as I loathe the final season (and 7. And not the biggest fan of 6 either), that scene had terrific acting, despite the poor writing. But getting off my tangent and back to your comment haha, if Jack took a protagonist role in a big budget film, everyone would love him. I’m willing to bet he’d never do it though.
Jack Gleeson is without discussion one of the most gifted actors I have ever seen, to play such an evil (and insane) character at such a young age, and do it so well that everyone despises them, to be so exceptional, and then just take a break to clear his head. Man I hope we get more from him in the future.
I'm 59 yrs old and believe Jack played his character so well he was hated for it, which means he played the part very well! A skilled preformer, I look forward to seeing more of this young man's work! 🇺🇸
Late to the game, but some people in public seem to believe actors ARE those people. I've hated alot of screen villians but his was the best and meanest I've remembered.
People can't separate fiction from real life, so sad. Jack did an amazing job and the show would not have been the same without him. All the best to him.
His acting captured a terrifying narcissist Pyschopath combined with deviousness sadism torture misogyny and schoolboy glee that was truly terrifying. He gave an absolutely terrific performance and such a shame we have not seen him in the role of a hero which he could doubtless play just as well. He really was a huge part of what made the series and good luck in all future endeavours!!
I absolutely love him, the fact that he played a villain that well. I felt so many things watching him play Geoffrey. It wouldn’t have been as good without his performance!
Jack Gleeson made me genuinely hate Joffrey Lannister but knowing that he’s about as opposite as it gets from that character makes me appreciate just how talented he is. His cast mates had nothing but nice things to say about him and all I can say is that I hope he does more beyond Game of Thrones. He could do any role and crush it
He’s such a great actor. Considering he’s a really nice guy in real life then plays one of the most hated characters on a tv show just shows how talented he really is. Plus he was only a young lad when he came onto GOT. Amazing quality for a youngster 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Mr. Gleeson is a definitely gifted person. He was able to create such a powerful and repulsive image that it was almost impossible to believe that he's different in real life. Great respect to this man from me and all my friends who absolutely love these series.
The stark(bad dum tss) contrast between the actor and the character is mind blowing. Jack is so well spoken and overall, just seems like a really nice guy. Well as for Joffrey, we all know how he's like.
I absolutely love Jack! He’s so unassuming and humble. I love that he removed himself from something he lost passion of instead of staying and regretting it and turning out awful characters. That’s a strong character trait that some of the actors we have now should really look at themselves to see if they’ve lost the passion as well. I can’t imagine having to be someone else for most of your life and losing the true you along the way. It definitely takes a special kind of person. Good for Jack to make sure he stays true to himself and follow what HE wants and not letting anyone or anything stop him or talk him out of it.👍❤️
I hope the world will celebrate the acting prowess of Mr. Jack Gleeson. So much respect here. Thank you for that unforgettable character and performance.

It's amazing, when you only see a person through their performance, you can be otherworldly amazed at their real counterpart, he's so intelligent and humble, amazing to listen to
I've heard he is doing theater again and is enjoying the craft. If he was a more seasoned actor he could've dealt with the hate and threats. Jeffery Dean Morgan is a great example of how a veteran actor can handle people who can't separate life from fiction. Negan was so hated and he was shouted at in the streets and sent tons of threats but he brushed it off and took it as a compliment. If you're a child and your first gig makes people despise you it is hard to take that as a compliment of how great of an actor you are. It takes a true talent to evoke real emotions from the audience and not many can do it. They usually rely on big musical scores to convey the emotion. There's channels that take music out of scenes to show how without the music the scene doesn't do much for you. When a show/movie can make you laugh and has no laugh track or music or a scene fully engulfs you and it is just characters talking you are witnessing true talent.
@@dontcare7086 what hate, what threats? In this very intervju he gets asked if people mistakes him for Joffrey and he says that he get asked that from time to time, but luckily that have never happened, if it had, that could have been bad, so I'm lucky it never have.

@@redcr33perproductions Same thing happened to Anna Gunn (Skylar White;Breaking Bad) she would receive intense fan hatemail lol
My favourite line of his is "I am NOT..... TIRED!!!" when Tywin is bossing him
It's such a terrifying concept to have your fate lie in the hands of an immature child king. He did an exceptional job at portraying this.
I respect his decision to quit acting. He has the guts to leave what he doesn't like.
He became such an incredible actor that it probably wasn't an interesting challenge anymore lmao
He's back to acting.
ppl forced him, i heard he got so many death treat that he quit
@@Samasaltil no, he did get death threats, but that wasn’t the reason he quit.
@@Samasaltil why death threats?
Jack Gleeson was utterly excellent! A complete tour de force as the evil Joffrey Baratheon. A fabulous turn.
Joffrey Lannister not Baratheon
Well you wouldn't want to be around him so...he is even worse in the books.
@@ignaciocaballero8153 His family name by law is Baratheon, even if he doesn't have Baratheon blood.

His name is Joffrey Baratheon, first of his name, illegitimate heir to the iron throne, king of the Andals, ruler of the seven kingdoms, protector of the realm,
Alfie Allen to D&D "read the books for once" lmao hes just saying what probably all the actors were thinking.
Wow. He actually apologized to a fan for the way it made them feel killing Ned Stark, dude is super nice ! What a brilliant and talented actor!
my god some fans are drooling morons
What a mentally unstable fan!
He really pulled a hatred out of the audience and thats truly what was needed to play such a character. He flat out killed this role!
Hats off to the lad. He was incredible as Joffrey.
Nobody is talking about how well Jack speaks. He has an excellent vocabulary.
Who cares
So true, he’s very well spoken
@@What5Poppin5limeI care 😚
True
I wouldn't be surprised if this guy nabs a superhero role, and everyone suddenly loves him.
He could fit in countless comic roles, absolutely.
Super villain
He'd be a good Johnny Storm.
@@joncarroll2040 or Homelander. :D
Jack Gleeson is without discussion one of the most gifted actors I have ever seen, to play such an evil (and insane) character at such a young age, and do it so well that everyone despises them, to be so exceptional, and then just take a break to clear his head. Man I hope we get more from him in the future.
💯💯💯 He is brillant
I'm 59 yrs old and believe Jack played his character so well he was hated for it, which means he played the part very well!
A skilled preformer, I look forward to seeing more of this young man's work! 🇺🇸
Late to the game, but some people in public seem to believe actors ARE those people. I've hated alot of screen villians but his was the best and meanest I've remembered.
People can't separate fiction from real life, so sad. Jack did an amazing job and the show would not have been the same without him. All the best to him.
How can you write something like this? This guy *killed Ned Stark*
@@hubble5755no he didnt
His acting captured a terrifying narcissist Pyschopath combined with deviousness sadism torture misogyny and schoolboy glee that was truly terrifying.
He gave an absolutely terrific performance and such a shame we have not seen him in the role of a hero which he could doubtless play just as well.
He really was a huge part of what made the series and good luck in all future endeavours!!
What a lovely Irish guy, I love the Irish sense of humor.
Briliant acting. He was a kid when GoT started but be absolutely nailed that role in a confident manner. Deserves more recognition for it imo.
I absolutely love him, the fact that he played a villain that well. I felt so many things watching him play Geoffrey. It wouldn’t have been as good without his performance!
He got his bag and is living his life while he's still young and growing. Props to him for doing what he wants.
He could do any role and crush it
Pretty sure he was a Baratheon in name only.
Jack is skilled at being the bad guy. I'd like to see him do the good guy side in a different show.

One of the greatest actors of all time, he did one role, yet made us feel so strongly about him.
Of all time? Are you twelve?
He also played a kid in Batman Begins
@@bramijdema759 yes of course he did, but like a major role
He was good, but greatest of all time is ridiculous
He’s such a great actor. Considering he’s a really nice guy in real life then plays one of the most hated characters on a tv show just shows how talented he really is. Plus he was only a young lad when he came onto GOT. Amazing quality for a youngster 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
He played that role flawlessly. Love to see him act in some other films.
He seems like a genuinely good-natured young man. Wish him all the best ☺️
Never saw a interview, what a well spoken, genuine young man. So glad I came across this .
Mr. Gleeson is a definitely gifted person. He was able to create such a powerful and repulsive image that it was almost impossible to believe that he's different in real life.
Great respect to this man from me and all my friends who absolutely love these series.
He was a top 5 or 3 performances in a cast of all time great actors. Astonishing really
The stark(bad dum tss) contrast between the actor and the character is mind blowing. Jack is so well spoken and overall, just seems like a really nice guy. Well as for Joffrey, we all know how he's like.
The accuracy to which he understands the questions and precisely answers them too.. brilliant actor!! ❤️❤️❤️
Good for Jack to make sure he stays true to himself and follow what HE wants and not letting anyone or anything stop him or talk him out of it.👍❤️
Well said Kimmie
@@billmurray1431 Thank you! You are very kind!🤗
What a nice guy he seems to be ! Love the energy and the sincerity of the answers
People hated the character of Joffrey, thats pretty much the evidence to great acting of Gleeson! Good work mate
You know the kid is good when you can immediately like him even though he was such a hateable character.
Two different people.
He did a brilliant job as Joffrey! Jack Gleeson will do well in what ever he does!
Played that character perfectly! Hope he isn't saddled with that character his whole career.
he quit acting altogether after this role.
I hope the world will celebrate the acting prowess of Mr. Jack Gleeson. So much respect here. Thank you for that unforgettable character and performance.
What an absolutely likeable honest open fella. I love finding out actors are just like their characters in real life, but when they’re the total polar opposite you really appreciate the talent that must take. Bravo 😎
Gleeson was one of the best actors on the show. An incredible talent and I hope we see him again in something big.
The fact that he was attacked for the character he portrayed is testament for the remarkable job he done in bringing that character to the screen.
Why do people keep saying this? He explicitly said he hasn't been attacked for the character. Stop spreading misinformation and watch the video before you comment, please. 10:20
He didn't mention Dave and Dans Best prank yet. Season 7 and 8! They were a right joke.
The final pointe made 2 family members want to try suicide, what a joke.
D and D hurried to the ends of their respective careers, to not make anything star Wars 🙄
The biggest joksters have to be D and D 's parents though, since their jokes can walk around and convince others they're actually people.
He played his role so well, no one could've done it better
He should get an award for being such a nice guy in real life and just letting us see who he really is (the exact opposite of Joffrey)
Man this kid was one of the all time great antagonists as an actor. His snappy behavior, the mannerisms of his tantrums, that shit was legendary. I hated that character so much literally because of his acting. Any fool who didn’t like him as a person, he did his job right
I gotta say man…… this dudes acting is PHENOMENAL. When you can make the audience feel genuine anger and resentment for a character… you played that role perfectly
What a lovely person he is and remarkably talented

He did a very good performance as Joffrey, cant imagen any other actor doing this role better, but all together i think all characters was well done.
the fact the Joffrey Baratheon is unambiguously the most hated character proves that Jack is one of the finest actors on the show!!!
He was fantastic in the show from his first scene to his last, great writing complimented by an an actor who gave it 110%
He played Joffrey to perfection. People need to know how to differentiate life and a character on a screen. I hope he gets a spark again because he was extremely talented for what he did.
It's amazing, when you only see a person through their performance, you can be otherworldly amazed at their real counterpart, he's so intelligent and humble, amazing to listen to
I can not fathom people not comprehending separating the actor from the character.
He was an incredible talent. I hope he chooses to act again someday.
Jack you played a character and pulled it off so well, that I rate Joffery as good a villain as Gollum, Hannibal Lector, Heath Ledger's Joker, Ashar (from Spartacus) and Anton Chigurh (from No Country for Old Men). Great stuff.
good list btw
Great list! Im guessing you’ve watched Inglorious Basterds as well. Surprised there’s no Hans Landa.

I'm so glad I stumbled across this interview! He did a FANTASTIC job!
When you look at an actor and already think of him as a specific character, you know they killed it in that show.
Such a great actor, to be so disliked means you did such a great great great job. You literally were Joffrey, amazing. God bless!🙏
One of the best to ever do it...I'm glad that he's back. I look forward to see him in many more movies and tv shows.
He played that part SO WELL! Words do not express how phenomenal he is as an actor. I couldn't stand him since season 1 episode 2. Based off this interview, he's cool. Good sense of humor, seems sweet.
I don't think they could've cast anyone better to play Joffery. He was outstanding, the hatred we all had for the character just shows how well he pulled off the part.
This young man is a sweetheart! Give him a good guy part like a young cop or young guy that gets caught up in something involved in spying make it funny ! This interview is wonderful just follow your heart
What a lovely person! Amazing to see and hear the gentle humanity in him.
I love how Jackie is from cork . Outstanding acting in GOT lad you cracked it . Cork loves you 🇮🇪👏
If making people hate you is an art form, then his role as Joffrey is a master piece.
Jack is so adorable!! It proves just how AMAZING an actor he was!! I am so sad that he has quit acting.... 😢
He seems like such a sweet and friendly lad it's really amazing he was able to pull off such a vile and easy to hate character, very talented fellow
Whatever you're doing now, Jack Gleason, I hope it's bringing you joy and fulfilment. You did a fantastic job as Joffrey, but respect to you for following your heart and going out of the acting profession with the biggest bang possible!
What a charming sense of humour! And a great talent to play that bastard in a such unforgettable manner.
As a massive movie/series buff at the age of 36 I never ever hated a character as much as his. That shows the absolute talent this lad has to gather the character from the books and portray it on screen absolutely brilliant 👌👌
He is one of the most gifted actors i've ever seen.
Seeing him acting so normal is balm to my soul, it reminds me that Joffree is not real, he cannot hurt you. He's a very good boy
What a talent. I would love to see he him in different roles on the screen. Love watching him in interviews, seems like a all around nice guy.
remarkable performance, it's always fun to see how different/similar actors can be to the characters
Wow. Seeing him out of the 'Joffery" role is pretty cool honestly. They way he was in the show was insane. And seeing him normal is coop especially being so young. Bravo young man. You were a total douch in that role but you played it to a T.
lets be honest theres something to the idea that joffrey is the most entertaining villain in GoT and it went down hill after he died in the books and the show. he's so fun to hate and to see him through Sansa's eyes was just awesome how she goes from being enchanted by him to wanting him dead. hes just a great villain overall especially how Jack played him.
He couldn't be any more different than his character. Cheers to how amazing he is as an actor
He seems like a very level headed, highly intelligent and sensible young man. Good for him on passing on HW and following his true passions.
