I used to not like “Art’s a Happy Man,” but now I love it. I’ve totally done a 180 on my opinion of it over the years. It’s great and I don’t know what I was thinking before.
Great score there! There's a few i'm still kicking myself for not grabbing when I had the chance and now they soared in price, specifically I remember Gandalf the Grey for well under the going rate at the time....oh well.
Wow, is this our first $1000 entry in the Acid Archives Diaries? I have had a digital copy since 2011, but haven't seen an actual copy. Listening to You Don't Care while watching your video. Thanks, Chris
Nice to have an original copy Derek. To me, they have a bit of a U.K. psych vibe, ala Kaleidoscope or The Fairytale, (Listen To Mary Cry feel to some of their songs, with a fuzz o.d. added), comes to mind..., the mind..., the mind.
One OG up for sale currently for 2G’s lol, I would say you did well with it, I have the 2014 reissue I love it but I’m biased as I grew up down the road from Toronto What do you think of Rockadrome? Another rare high value Cdn psych album, I know a guy who has an OG copy for 1G Even the reissue is hard to find Cheers great video
I have the Shadoks reissue of Rockadrome. I love it just about as much! I was expecting some Yardbirds knockoffs the first time I saw the title & cover. Has a bit of a tinny sound, but some killer cuts to be found.
Ah even though i did say im not "over the moon" about it, i am mighty jealous of that original lol. Im happy with my reissue too and not purging it and if i had a shot at an orignal, i would take it. My criticism is its a bit samey to me by the end but still, excellent fuzz and great songwriting. Nice feature and never have seen those pics!
Paraphrased a little bit, but I got the impression you might've had some issues with it. I totally get it. It found me well under the going rate in the states, wild! We need to get back to that line of thinking. Sell a little less so we can keep adding to the cart haha.
Another excellent overview. There were bootlegs before the late 90's Void label, 2014 and subsequent reissues. I still have the BSF boot together with my original on Allied that cost me $3 at an annual Ontario Orchestra fundraiser vinyl sale (I wasn't even in the first 20-30 mouth-foamers that lined up for hours beforehand - most head first to the B for Beatles and L for Ledd Zepp bins. I managed to find a spot at the P table). As a Canadian with a large local collection I fall into the "not as good as its reputation" category. I find there is too much fuzz ( as you mentioned, and which was exemplified in the piece you used as your intro). It is unrelenting and Mike Cadieux should have turned it down - strummed some chords - during the vocal choruses at least. Similar criticism applies to Dragonfly (I consequently purged mine) and the first album by McKenna Mendelson" Blues" on Paragon. More nuanced Canadian pop-psych can be found on British North-American Act and A Passing Fancy.
I see where you're coming from. I just received A Passing Fancy too, which I'll be sharing. I guess no matter how loud the fuzz throttle is turned up, we love that early distortion!

Absolute titan of the genre. Near mythical band.
Truly a great one! I had the "authorized" re-ish on Void Records (NJ) back in 1999. Think I have a CD release of it now as well.
Wow, very cool to see this big rarity. Congrats!
Wow!!! What an awesome record to have in your collection!!! Yeah, I’m definitely jealous. NICE FIND😀
I lucked out, for sure. Not an easy piece.
"You dont care" is an amazing song.
Grooving to it as i write!
Thanks for the review!
Great track to get one reeled into this.

Very good stuff Derek thanks for posting

For an original, maybe? I have another in mind that would top this one! I might cover it down the line.
Excellent album.
Wonderful album
Hey man. Plastic Cloud is top tier psychedelia. Great choice. ✌ ☮ 🕊
Thank you!

A bit of that whimsy English feel, I can sense that too. Thought this would be a fun entry.
@@PsycheDerek. Yep... definite "Toytown" psych vibe in places.

Got those filed away too! 👍
This is a favorite of mine. I don’t think it is very Canadian. It is good.
I'd be happy to have that. - me (Art B.)
I got the CD.
