I came across that Tarantula album recently in a shop for $5. I was stoked until I discovered it had been clawed (not scratched) beyond repair. Devastated.
I dig the Tarantula and Nelson lps. Inner Mystique was my intro to the Watchband . I bought a reissue almost 40 years ago and the same day, I could’ve got an original of the first one for $ 40 but thought that was outrageous for a record!
Hi Derek! First of all: Very good you cut off the horrible beard, you look so much better again, Der! xD And second: It’s very helpful if you put in these short clips with music, so that we can get an impression of the sound. Anyhow, thanks again so much for your utterly pleasant videos! Patrick from Switzerland 🇨🇭🪐
The Sound Of Dissent sounds interesting. The segment you played reminds me of The Godz! Yikes..., Jeremy & The Satyrs! Not my bag daddy-o. Jazzy vibes, with a so-so singer, though some cool flute. Grabbed a copy of their album years ago. I also had an original "Inner Mystique" back in the 70's, but sold it on. Not too sure why, but... Have a chilled out break my man, and don't drift off to those ambient... 😴. Oops, too late.
I'm not too big on that Jeremy record either, just had the session drummer from there play on Dissent. I drift off every night with either white noise or 8 hr ambient pieces!
@@PsycheDerek. What!!! I use to find the "clickety click" sound of trains did it for me. Coming back from London after record hunting on the train, always gave me a very drift-off vibe. But my bedroom just ain't big enough for a 🚂!
Enjoy your break your videos will be missed! Tarantula never clicked for me but I’ll have to give it a second listen 👂 Bought a different Bill Nelson solo album for cheap and didn’t expect much but really enjoyed it Take care Brian ☮️
Whoah whoah whoah, 6 + months! 😂 glad for you getting a needed break. Look forward to your return Derek. You’ve always been one of my go to channels, you’ll be missed!😀
Sorry to hear you'll be taking a break but I totally get it. And will be checking in with you for sure, on the live streams too perhaps. I agree with your assessments on the 2nd Watch Band, but I still kind of enjoy it anyway. I love that Dylan cover. Tarantula I really don't see but copies are certainly affordable. Something cool about their approach. I liked what you used here. Yeah the Sound Expedition is a heavy duty score. Top notch custom banger there! But enjoy the time off editing and seriously stressing out (I kid) over those videos. Be well!
The break may not be as long as I stated, but I kind of went out of my way posting last year. Maybe I'll just slow down a tad. Live stream tomorrow! Yeah, I'm a bit in the minority with the Watchband, but their 2nd has some of my favorite moments.
Regarding Northern Dream, my understanding is that there are some second pressings that have leftover first-press jackets with the "limited edition" text. That's what my copy is. I think I left a comment about it on Discogs, haha. I LOVE Bill Nelson. That is definitely an interesting album. Cheap heat indeed!
Six months to a year? Jesus Christ! At least that will give me a chance to get caught up streaming some of the records you've been talking about and showing. An example is that Tarantula record. I've seen that before, but never heard it. I assume you've heard the rumor about what a chocolate watchband is.. I'm taking a break myself, not from TH-cam, but from buying records. They're getting too expensive for what you get and I'm tired of bad pressings, lack of quality control, etc.. I've been concentrating more on streaming and CDs lately, but buying a 4 LP box set with all four records warped was the final straw. Enjoy your break.
There ya go! Lots to explore if you go back in my feed. That's sort of my plan too. Stepping back from purchasing as much as I can, focus on other areas.
You are free to do what is best for you. I don’t understand the difference of posting videos and live-streaming as far as taking a break from social media.
Well at least yuo are going to do live stream's. Like your record playing parties. Reminds me of times in the past having record listening parties with friends. The only difference we would get high.
Hey man. Enjoy your hiatus. Tarantula is a unique album most definitely. Chocolate Watch Band is always a great choice. I'll catch you on your live streams. Peace.
You've been tagged as one of my favorite VC Channels! Thanks PsycheDerek for making awesome videos and having really good taste! th-cam.com/video/c3sbPmiYLyw/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=GiantOrangeRecords
I disagree with you.. i love that Watchband album.. they were like The Litter in terms of having a forceful producer. The cover of Baby Blue is one of the best out there.. your video's will be missed..
🔥💙✨🎼🙋🏻♂️
Thank you Brother!

I'll still watch & interact, but publishing videos takes a lot of time of the day for me. I went out of my way last year.

We can agree to disagree. I know you're a Watchband fan. Catch my livestream tomorrow for a blend of heavier psych if you'd like.
@@PsycheDerek. agreed :)
everytime I watch your livestream it costs me money :) I'll be tuning in.
