My dad was one of your patients this week. Old stubborn Irish guy with a daughter named Siobhain too. When I told him that he met a youtuber I followed he felt pretty special! He said you were great btw.
Hi Crystal! yes there are so many trials and evidence to learn... it's great to be able to apply this knowledge directly and get feedback from staff right away!
I miss residency for that very reason... quick feedback all the time! It’s so great seeing you take on your residency and all the learning that comes with it with such enthusiasm and positivity! I love it :)
I was diagnosed with a-fib in 2011 and have been through 18 cardioversions and 2 cardiac ablations. It's been 4 1/2 years since I've had an episode. Thank you for spotlighting such an important and misunderstood condition. We need more doctors like you.
I am a Nurse Practitioner and I love watching your videos! I work outpatient currently, but when I was a RN I worked inpatient on a trauma unit. I love watching your journey through residency! I wish some of the MDs I had to call as an RN were as nice as you!
Last year I had 50 lbs of fluid removed in 12 days. I live with dilated cardiomyopathy and appreciate everything my heart failure team does for so many of us! There is a lot for us patients to learn about ourselves too. Now I am heading back to school to enter the medical field, I’ll help others for as long as my body lets me.
I so admire cardiology. It’s amazing what they can do for the heart - such a precious organ. My dad had his first heart attack at 45. 20 years later he has a pacemaker and defibrillator implanted. It works at a reduced percentage but he’s still kicking. His father died of congestive heart failure at 68. His brother also had a heart attack young and had stents placed. Very strong family history.
I’m a nurse and have worked on a ortho/neuro/trauma floor for 8 months. I love watching your videos! I work with residents practically every day. It’s fun to see your side of the interdisciplinary team!
I work in a cardiac cath lab & was so overwhelmed at first, but I wouldn’t change my job for anything in the world. I love making a difference in someone’s life & actually being able to save someone that’s having a heart attack. I hope you enjoy your term in cardiology.
I love how you explain things to us in a way us non medical professionals can understand. I feel like you'd be an excellent teacher and mentor for up and coming med students and residents
Cardiology is fascinating to me! I was born with congenitally compensated TGA and a severe VSD. I've never needed surgery which is really rare. I always see residents when I can. It's fun for me to be able to help residents learn.
I’m in school for nursing (first year, just taking my nursing program pre requisites at the moment) and these videos inspire me so much more and make me all the more excited to finally start taking my nursing classes in a few months!
I love your way of explaining things by using different things, pictures and animations! And my brain is working hard to translate everything to something that I recognize from watching Swedish workplace realities. I actually think I'm doing pretty well.
Wow I haven’t watched your content for a few months and the quality is increasing! I’m forever in awe of you!!! Working out, being a doctor, and uploading regularly... insane
I love that u make these videos!! I honestly love seeing all sides of medical personnel and it’s deff shown me how exciting it is to be saving lifes each day♥️
When you mentioned hypokalemia the first thing that popped in my head was. Potasium replacement with potassium sparring diuretic. Great video as always
Excellent job Siobhan !!! My father was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure. This video was awesome because it helped me understand a little more about this condition and how doctors treat it.
Hi Siobhan! I am a Cardiology Nurse for Alberta Health at the Rocky View General in Calgary. I loved the video and Cardiac Medicine is so interesting yet can be challenging with all the medication parameters but keeps on your toes! Enjoy your rotation. Richard
The same thing happened to my dad too! But he froze his food, let to blood infection. He retained 88lbs of fluid, kidneys weren’t functioning and his creatinine level was really high, he ended up in the ICU! He’s doing very well. ☺️
Love cardiology! I was born with Tetralogy of Fallot and have developed left ventricular dysfunction. The entire reason I want to pursue medicine! Thanks for sharing!
I came across your channel and I was amazed! I am 16 and very interested in nursing. I love watching you and your "day in the life" videos! Thanks for the inspiring me to become very dedicated to what I want to do
Found this video from my hospital bed at Mass General.... In heart failure 6 months ago... Just discovered your videos and watched you for hours... But this was me. Afib 220bpm... Fluid backup... Clots....and all that fun stuff! Keep it up!
This was actually so helpful. I’m a burn student and am prepping for my first practical exam and I was really struggling with understanding why putting Edema was something to look for during a cardio assessment and your just answered it for me! Also love that I’m understanding some of the jargon and medical terminology!
Hello Siobhan!! I absolutely love your videos, they are very interesting and informative and I love how positive you are!! It's amazing how passionate you are about your job! Also, I'd love to see you make a video that shows what you do on your off days/free time. It'd be cool to see that different side of you!
I love all your videos sooo much because I live here in Hamilton and I hope one day I’m lucky enough to be treated by someone like you who has soooo much passion for learning and caring for people. Great job as always!
Im an RPN I did my 3rd semester placement at the Cardiology unit at trillium. It was AWESOME. I learned the most from that placement compared to all the others, I mostly got LTC so I was fairly unlucky. When I did placement on the Cardiology unit I got to help take care of patients with Aortic Dissections, Pericarditis, A-Fib. We also got some internal medicine patients and I got to hangout with a gastroenterologist while she did endoscopies. I want to work in the hospital for sure, just my choices of units are limited unless I go back for my RN.
Aspiring Interventional Cardiologist here. Awesome video, I loved how you showed the Atrial Fibrillation ECG as well. Also, you explained things very well, I learned a lot!
Siobhan, you're my inspiration! I want to be a doctor and I really want to be a such good doctor like you! Thank you for give me even more reasons to be into medicine, you're awesome! Kisses from Brazil ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Siobhan, I'm a volunteer in the ED at Hamilton General Hospital and I'm going into nursing next year. Hope to see you around in person! Always love watching your videos!
Learned a little about cardioversion in my anatomy course! It's cool to see you doing it in your vlogs too. Cardiology seems like such a complex field but I'm excited to learning more in the future :)
I love your positive attitude, it remains even in the most stressful of situations. Thanks for being such a great educational and inspirational vlogger!! I definitely look up to you 😌
Cardiology is my favorite!! I have congenital heart disease and have had four heart surgeries in total (two since September). My dream is to be a cardiologist!
Sibohan- I thank you so much for making these videos, I am a BSN student, so not what you are doing, but these type of videos help me so much in my studies!
Violin MD - I’m a Senior High School Student looking to go into an EMT Career and your videos are helpful and motivational. I have loads of enjoyment watching them, so thank you!
It's very nice to see your videos.. I wish all doctors have a positive attitude like you have. Wishing you all the best from India. Also, my father is a heart patient, he survived a attack few months back.
I just learned about cardiac physiology in one of my university courses and I think its so cool when I can actually understand what a doctor is talking about!! #futurenurse :))
I look forward to your videos every week!! I’m a senior in high school planning on majoring in biology to be prepared for medical school!! You keep me motivated!
My cousin was in congestive heart failure a few years ago right before thanksgiving. He was 19 years old and he was a big guy very overweight for someone his age. His legs were full of fluid and they got rid of it and he went down to Cleveland clinic to have two valves replaced. He also has bicuspid aortic valve and that’s why he needed to get them replaced. He was very traumatized, the doctors here in Detroit children’s were making it seem like if they did surgery on him he wouldn’t make it. We then found that doctor at Cleveland clinic and he was very good at reassuring him and my aunt and uncle that he would be fine when they did surgery. He had his surgery a few days before Christmas and was home a few days after new year’s. They wouldn’t let him go home because there was still a little fluid around his heart but he got so medication my mom got him in to see my cardiologist (I have heart problems too) and she did an echo after a few days of him being home and on the medication and the fluid was gone. If there was still fluid around his heart he would’ve had to go back to Cleveland. It was a very close call but I’m glad that he’s taking better care of himself. He’s lost so much weight and is eating better, most of the time.
I LOVE your videos. I have many rare illnesses and there are not many doctors who know what it is. And if they do, most are misinformed. It’s called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (genetic condition) it basically means the gene that makes my collagen is faulty and I don’t make it. So I dislocate joints weekly, have high risk of organ ruptures, vascular issues and a whole bunch more. Because of this I have had 7 brain surgeries. One of which getting my skull fused to my spine. You probably won’t see this but if you do I’d love for you to do research on it and not just stop when you see “hyper mobile” because it’s so much more than that and some doctors aren’t open to learning about it. Due to close minded doctors where I live it almost cost me my life. I’m 16, I have a huge life ahead of me. You seem like a great doctor and you love to learn. Besides my surgeon I always form close bonds with the residents while they are on his rotation. You kinda have to when you spend months in the icu with them haha. He says I’m like a fly he can never send me home without me getting life flighted right back to him😂😂 keep up the great work💜
Ooh I went to paediatric cardiology once and got an ultrasound on my heart, it was really cool. There was a person there learning so he explained everything going on too.
I love these videos!!! Thank you for all your effort into your videos, especially for all you do ❤️ I’m looking to go into nursing so I love to see these vlog style videos 💕

Bet you dad Micheal jackson
I have always thought cardiology was one of the hardest things to learn! Get it girl!

I miss residency for that very reason... quick feedback all the time! It’s so great seeing you take on your residency and all the learning that comes with it with such enthusiasm and positivity! I love it :)

I like how your newer videos are actually teaching! Good job including medical terminology definitions!!!
For anyone wondering, yes, ventricular fibrillation is a thing. It's also an immediate code blue if it happens
I have always found cardiology interesting. Also, amazing editing.
Thanks Gianna! yes i agree, it's a fantastic field
