    THANK YOU to the nurses, pharmacist and medical team for participating in the video. And a special thank you to the patients who allowed us to share their medical images - your generosity and desire to educate/help others means so much!

      I had surgery on May 11. I got my absolute hot hot hot senior resident doc (who was there for surgery) to take his mask off...his dreamy eyes matched the rest of his face....I wanted to get his picture...not allowed...

      Jeanette Raichel creepy. How would you feel about a male patient leering at a female physician/nurse like that? Get a grip.

    • @adarkertriad
      @adarkertriad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Evelyn B It is creepy. But women don’t act that way as much as men do. Even when men are sexually harassed/assaulted, it’s usually done by other men. Also, men wouldn’t feel threatened in the same way women do. Not saying it’s okay, but this is just how it is

    • @kyleroberts7813
      @kyleroberts7813 4 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      @@adarkertriad See thats whats wrong. You have no idea how an individual would react in response to that. Why can you make the assumption that a man wont be threatened the same way? And what do you mean women dont act that way as much as men? This happens all the time and because of comments like this men feel embarrassed to admit that it happened and it often goes unpunished.

      Kyle Zibell I get some dudes may be intimated. A professor tried to kiss my ex and he said he was weirded out and left but he didn’t feel in no way violated or harassed... men can usually overpower a woman so they don’t feel threatened I guess?

    I really love the way this video was edited and filmed, obviously not everyone is going to be ok with being on camera but watching this video feels similar to a reality show but more of the documentary shows not trashy reality shows. It makes things easier to follow and really gives a clear picture on how medical treatment is a team activity and how all medical staff are important to keep things going. There are so many common stereotypes of medical staff being egocentric, lazy, unimportant, etc. It's nice to see how in reality it's a nice atmosphere and camaraderie.

      crazy!!! i was born with 3 holes in my heart. the doctor initially thought it was one but once he was in their to patch up the hole he noticed the second one. after the procedure (lucky they didn’t do open heart surgery cause they didn’t realize how bad it actually was), a nurse noticed my heart was still bleeding and they had to go back in and patch the third hole. hope all as good with you!

    Question ✋... When a patient goes through a heart attack and gets a stent put in his arteries through the leg. Is it normal to still have a "electric shock" feeling in his leg, even a year after the procedure? It doesn't happen all the time just once in a while and most of the time when lying down.

      in England there is a show called "24 hours in A&E", it is very popular and they do show patients. Of course only those who give consent. It is known as a "rig show" where they have an array of fixed cameras. They also have "walkers" who film openly. Some prospective patients are mic'd up. Best of all they do some follow ups where they interview patients and relatives at home afterwards.

      Violin MD, Yes I do think it represents CCU’s in general (got to watch that Mag/K level). My CCU mainly takes care of post-op CABGs (or any cardiac surgery/STEMIs/NSTEMIs) or if any device such as an Impella, IABP or ECMO are placed and have to be monitored. We do take Code Blues (though we call them Code 99s) from the floor or from the ED, especially if they’re going to do Hypothermia Therapy. Unfortunately, the hospital I work at is small (for the USA) and we are not a teaching hospital so we don’t have residents (which I miss, having worked at a much larger teaching hospital before). Thanks for the video! Does your hospital do any of the cardiac devices I mentioned?

      l euphoria l, Hey great to hear you’re interested in nursing. Yes, the schooling can be tough, rigorous and for many schools fast-paced. The job can be stressful, especially when you’re a new graduate nurse. There is a lot to learn and the learning curve can be steep, however if you stick to it, study when you can and have a open mind to constantly learn you should succeed. Also something to remember...the first place you get a job may not be the best one for you. So, if the beginning of your nursing experience was not what you hoped for, don’t be dismayed. Put your time in on the unit you get hired because you can still learn time management (which is huge) and patient assessments. Then, once you’ve had time to get your skills up you can apply for another position somewhere else (whether it be your current employer or a different one). Nursing is wonderful career because you are never stuck in one place, you can go wherever a nurse is needed and though I was lucky to have found my love of CV (cardiovascular) nursing from the start, I’ve had many colleagues who didn’t and have used there CV experience to help them get better/more experience based nursing positions.

    • @andrew4537

      It depends on the position, some specialties have longer residencies than others, but I think her’s is only four years

      Depends on the specialty. Since she's going to be a Ruhmetologist, she needs to do three years of internal medicine residency and then a one or two-year fellowship in Ruhmetology. However, it's different for everyone. For example, my dad is a Urologist and he needed to do 6 years of residency, two for surgery, and four for urology. Since Urology has it's own residency, he didn't need to do a fellowship.

      Depends on how much information/demanding the specific field is. Shortest are 3 years, longest is 7. 3-4 years is the average amount

    I remember I wanted to go into cardiology because it seemed so interesting when I first heard about it since they diagnose and treat problems of the heart and blood vessels. So when I researched more about it and studied so many things about cardiology I realized it wasn’t really for me which is really disappointing. But now I’m looking into radiology which is also quite intriguing.😄

But also surgery looks so exciting, I also love actively doing work with my hands. I have big FOMO about choosing between both paths plus the specialty. Maybe you could go in depth on how you choose your specialty from the rest. maybe compare how they work differently in the hospital setting? It would be nice to hear from someone that already experienced that not too long ago.
