I actually really love the lore he put into his AC for this video A pilot who was so legendary and confident in their abilities that they put their ENTIRE networth into making their AC out of pure gold because they were so incredibly confident they would never get hit or scratched. They breeze through missions and tear enemies apart, without a scratch on their perfect golden AC. Then, on a mission, the pilot makes just one tiny mistake which puts an incredibly small *scratch* right on their armor. This one mistake is enough to make the AC pilot lose it, they turn from a legendary operator to an absolute beast that no longer cares about the condition of their AC. They stop caring for it, stop polishing it, and start allowing hits to be made on them - but they hit back much harder than they ever have before.
43:50 The song "Waltz of the Tornado" would fit perfectly with this fight. The song is elegant and janky at the same time, it really fits the transformation of the character.
I always love creating a backstory for my characters in the souls games, and any rpg of that style. I struggled with AC6 more because of the more explicit story, but I love to see that it’s something other people do too

I will admit while it is massively beneficial to learn the parts and experiment with builds, it felt extremely rewarding when I made my own build and started to master it rather than change it for any given challenge.
So true. I experimented with builds a lot and often tried to make specialized AC-s for missions, but I always had the ol' reliable setup, the build which I knew wasn't the best but was the closest to my playstyle and in general I was just the most comfortable with. Most of the times having an AC tailor fit for my exact playstyle felt just as rewarding as one tailor fit for the mission. And it also adds a tiny bit of a roleplay feel to it. It's not an AC assembled for a mission, it is MY armored core.
Thing is, both methods are completely valid. If you make a specialized AC for every encounter you're displaying your understanding of your enemies weaknesses and your strategic ability to exploit them. And if you make one singular AC, either a jack of all trades, or a personality specialized one(IE: An AC molded to fit your playstyle completely). You can then show your tactical ability in how you use your AC's strengths and weaknesses to overcome challenges that might sometimes seem insurmountable for a lesser skilled pilot.

I really like the idea that this pilot will fight tooth and nail through a mission and get to the very end, right before they complete their objective and they realize theres a single scratch on their AC and immediately dip out to clean it off
I just finished my first playthrough of the game, with 28,7 hours played, exploring everything in the paths I chose. I honestly can't be more happy right now. Im literally 12 years old again. This game is everything it always wanted to be. To me it is a masterpiece.
There is a surprisingly well written story in this game that involves you. Although it is still an armored core game, so dont expect something extraordinary here. There are about 10 BIG boss battles. then most levels also have at least one miniboss in it, and then ofcourse there are enemy ACs, and the arena making for the most thrilling fights and there are at least 20 of those + the arena where you fight them 1on1. This game IS costomization, this shouldn't even be a question. the answer is just "yes" ofcourse there is a lot of customization and stuff to collect, this is armored core, this is the soul of the game.
@@benedwards4751 oh trust me I know.. I will play this game at least 5 more times xd and S rank every mission. My missles are ready and I am almost at NG++ again.
The Tetrapod sniper in Mission 4 honestly feels like the point where any _Souls_ veterans who've never touched an _Armored Core_ game will find themselves thinking, 'Hang on, these attacks have _patterns_ to them!' In close-quarters, I noticed it kept relying on its shotgun and blade, but many of its attacks leave it wide open on its right flank when they miss -- dodge to the left, then light her up.
@JerichoDeath I use that mission as a field test for new builds, even before hitting NG+ -- it's a good cross-section of the kinds of hazards a well-rounded AC needs to be able to handle.
the big baddie on top of the dam while you take out AA turrets? I've ran through that mission over a dozen times to test out different setups on that enemy. it killed me my first three or so playthroughs of the mission (I was adamant to leave no survivors.) like the fourth time around, something clicked where I was like "wait, it has well-defined patterns and timings to its shots and swings. I can definitely dodge these consistently." haven't died to it since, even if I've came close w less than great setups. edit: it has since applied to many, many other enemies as well. like the Stridor eye, wiped me my first few tries until I realized the timing. I use a pretty lightweight mech w a big burner so my dodges scoot me everywhere.
I love thinking about this from the enemies perspective. Even though your actually struggling to them you must seem like some kind of unstoppable force of nature as you wipe them all out with seemingly ease perfectly weaving and countering every move they make without so much as a scratch.
Thats actually something I thought about in Titanfall. The grunt soldiers you 1-shot during multiplayers are standard soldiers. Every day joes like you and me. The player characters using abilities m, jumping around, etc are super soldiers meant to be significantly more powerful than a normal human.
@@The_Ajna This may not be it, but it's the closest I've felt to being back in my Titan in years. I even managed to recreate a couple of my favorite skins already!
God hearing Vaati unintentionally cook half the early negative reviews of the game on steam with that 'you can't lose if you're halfway competent' is just a joy to hear honestly.
Played Armored Core Last Raven, I reached the last mission then quit after dying uncountable times to the last boss. So I was quite young back then, never really came back, though I do believe I'm halfway competent.
I know this might be a bit cheesy and less fun than the way you've been doing it, but if you use your scanner you can lock onto targets from through walls and everything else (this is how I think enemies are pre-firing as well). You can use this with the vertical missile pods to hit enemies behind cover/around walls/at high points that you can't see (and they can't shoot at you with guns!).
"Staying at range is safer, but you aren't gonna do much damage that way." If there is anything to take away from this video, it's this. The first mission teaches you that and the game continues to reinforce it with every boss and Enemy AC afterward. Aggression has served me better in most situations and when it fails I know there are only two other options, Hyper aggression or play it save.
I'm new to the AC series, but I was kinda sad there wasn't some super epic long range sniping stuff. Especially when I saw you could enter battle overloaded. Imagine rolling up on the high ground, and absolutely nuking the shit beneath you. If enemies still get through then pop those big weapons off and engage as usual.
I watched some videos about old AC games and some guy said he had a build like that. He had a bunch of disposable missile launchers strapped to a lightweight mech. I think they took a lot of the complicated stuff out of this game to simplify it a little. that being said, stun needle and NG++ coral rifle have very long effective ranges...
@@loafloafer I think when they make the next game they're gonna try adding some of that stuff back in. Which I can't argue with, the simplicity and forgiving nature of the AC build is a lot of what's generating hype and praise. People will be way more likely to accept tougher mechanics in the future now.
@loafloafer to give you an idea of how complicated the older titles were: we used to have to worry about cooling in addition to energy while not being able to use the thumbsticks to aim or move. In AC Nexus: Evolution alone I must have spent hundreds of hours just trying to get my cooling rate balanced with energy. With emulators using joysticks or changing face inputs is simple, but things haven't always been so friendly hahaha another thing that stands out is that we had to switch to our R. BACK weapon. You couldn't just fire it with a button press, it was an alternate to your R. ARM but you could fire your L. ARM while using R. BACK. And some of our weapons straight stopped us like the Gatling for the BACK, it could fire 25 shots before reloading but you couldn't move and shoot with it.
Vaati has such a soothing voice, even when he seems angry. I accidentally slept off while watching this and a day later I'm back here to rewatch it. Edit: I slept off again.

To be fair, every out Souls TH-camr and their dog was going to release a video like this at some point, so it makes perfect sense for Vaati to get one out first. I’ve got zero issues with that.
As someone who came from the older AC games (AC1 / AC2), the checkpoint system really made the game easier. Of course, the missions in older games usually dont last as long as the missions in AC6 and the boss fights here are definitely way harder too. They really made this game accessible to a lot more people and I'm looking forward to more games due to AC6's success.
Talking about difficulty, I found the mission in the last quarter of the game when you have to choose a side and attack the other straight out of classic armored core, having to destroy over 50 MT’s, tetrapods, and a named AC without a single checkpoint felt so incredibly hard but rewarding once you beat it.
I've been playing AC since the beginning and I couldn't come close to this level of performance. Vaati just got into it and is now doing no damage runs. I salute you.
Man this blades in this game are by far my favorite weapons they are so satisfying to use in using the second one where you swipe and there spin for a follow up strike it hits so hard especially during posture break
Hilarious timing putting this up as soon as the game comes out, but I think I'll save it to my Watch Later and play it myself before watching this lol. Edit: Well, I have beaten NG+ and NG++ now. Still haven't S-ranked every mission (just finished Escort the Mining Ship), let alone done extreme challenges, but I'm gonna watch. Edit 2: After watching it - I can understand why you would have given up around Balteus. Balteus definitely can be beaten without taking damage, but it would require a very precise combination of assault boosting and quick dodging on a suitably fast build due to his missile spam. Other than his missile spam none of his other attacks are as hard to fully avoid. A good strategy would probably be to have enough damage to basically instantaneously break his shield and stagger him while staying close enough that he can't use his missiles often. I have beaten him multiple times with different strategies, but never really was trying to take "no damage" (avoiding 95% of the missiles while being aggressive was enough), so I can't comment much more.
0:28 Play that in slow motion, really slow, and just enjoy how the enemy evaporates as he kicks him into the corner of a wall. Brutal and actually fun to watch. If this game had more ragdoll moments to go with some of the parts flying off but not all of them all the time, this would be all the more gorgeous.
Something in previous games that would help a lot, is some cores had missile defense systems. They would automatically shoot down small missiles that came in range and they had a limited amount of ammo for this. In missions with a lot of annoying missiles I would switch to cores with very good missiles defense. It didn't work on large missiles which is fine since they were slow and dodgable but it would still try and waste an ammo on that. Light cores typically had better missile defense which somewhat made them comparable to the huge amounts of AP heavy cores had, which would usually have auto turrets instead. Also previous games had Flare weapons which would attract missiles to them and protect you from volleys of missiles. I bring this up because missiles are IMO the most annoying thing in this game and I wish these anti-missile features returned.
It's odd because there ARE flares in this game, though you'd be forgiven for thinking literally noone has them. As far as I know there's only 1 very specific type of enemy that uses them, and it's the PCA LCs, and even though only certain ones get the flares. It's very odd. As soon as I saw it I thought there'd be a shoulder-mounted flare launcher that would distract missiles, but nope.
Wow! This actually reminds me of old school armored core. There were a lot of missions were you could cheese the enemies by peaking up and firing missile like that. In Project Phantasm I beat half the arena by just running the enemy out of ammo strafing between pillars.
I love that all the souls content creators are making videos about AC:6. As somebody who has never touched an Armored Core game but played every soulsbornekiring game, this seems to have the From Software touch. Hugely excited to try it!
"soulsbornekiring" If you're gonna do that, you might want to come up with a term that doesn't make it look like you're having a stroke all over your keyboard.
When the invis mechs fall off wals, Vaati, they deal a unique 'Impact' damage, which deals ZERO damage, but makes your AC buckle under the load of something falling on it. The C-Spider DETONATES something when it lands, which is why it doesn't only deal 'Impact' damage, but also explosive damage.
This game really is a masterpiece, I've been searching for a mech game that has felt this good for a long time and this is what I've been searching for all this time. So happy to see how much love it's been getting too. Cant wait to see more
It's definitely not the only way. I've seen speed be the biggest factor in S ranks. And testing it out on a few missions seems that's the best way so far. Could be different for different missions though
@@SirBigWater Yes, speed seems to be a very big factor except when there is some additional bonus available, then you have to do them for S rank. The Dam mission is a perfect example of that.
Absolutely fantastic attempt! I feel like the frustrating bit is that I don't think it's going to be completely within your control whether you can avoid taking minor amounts of splash damage in this game. Stuff like that pulse gun has RNG on the pattern that comes out and stuff like the plasma missiles are going to be finicky. I think it's probably possible to no-damage beat Sulla, but I think it'd be perfect play and luck at the same time, and that's beyond mind-numbing to try and grind through. Maybe instead of doing a perfect no damage run, you could go for a segmented run? See how many of the missions you can beat no-damage rather than letting any particular one roadblock you. The ones where you succeed it's great to see how you went about doing it!
@@thenymphomancer5592 Same dude, same. Not quite to that extent, but I haven't preordered in ages since being let down countless times. At least 5 years or so though. This game finally got me
I made an ultra-lightweight build that I painted bright red and covered in corporation stickers. I imagined that it was from a world where there was mech racing. It can basically dodge nonstop, and it is so quick, but it will snap like a twig, and can’t carry any heavy weapons. It would probably be ideal for a run like this.
imagining a combatant so perfect they have the ability to never be hit just to lose that restriction and becoming aggressive in a singular drive to destroy is a particular fear, thank vaati
I'm interested in how viable stealth gameplay is. It would be cool to make a sniper build and just decimate whole groups of enemies from outside of combat range.
I just recently found out another cool thing about the game. When you run totally out of ammo it fully restores your health and you can start pummeling your enemies because fists do a stupid amount of ACS damage so you can stun lock your enemies and just pummel the hell out of them while they can do nothing about it
@@ferinzz you can and it is entertaining as shit I finished off the chapter 2 boss with my fists because I ran completely out of ammo and wound up beating it to death from a quarter health
@@ferinzz also a lot of the time the games AI just doesn’t know how to react to it and they will do something stupid and make themselves an easy target due to not being able to calculate your next move as well
37:08 I think you got gommba stomped, unironically. I saw an interaction during a mission where an object fell on enemies and it instantly staggered them but dealt no damage.
39:23 KBM is extremely good **if** you have a flexible setup and experience with a few more binds than usual. A couple thumb buttons on the mouse for the shoulder armaments frees up the keyboard for movement.
its incredible this game having so many parts and customizability yet still some of the early game parts can just full carry you all the way. the beginning laser pistol and vertical plasma launcher ARE SO GOOD. the pistols fire like crazy with 2 of them and the plasma launcher tracks like nobody's business its nuts
Besides full run, which could be rather long, I think a really cool content could be a montage of all successful attempts, including mech assembly and shop in-between. You know, as if you got it first try. Besides being entertaining, it could be a great boss and encounter guide: doing your strat while not resetting after each scratch is likely a good way to overcome a difficult blocker. Absolutely mad challenge, you got my sub, continue doing your stuff!
AC6 was directed by one of Sekiro's lead designers, and you bet I'm seeing some of Sekiro in AC6 as a result, namely how hesitation and playing it safe is more dangerous than decisiveness and appropriate aggression. This plays into how I normally play AC anyway so it still feels right for me. Really beautiful game.
I don't see sekiro in this game at all. You beat sekiro with a single weapon that you Mastered by learning how to deflect where is in this game your build matters so much and you're getting hit by stuff off screen and there's so much visual noise where sekiro had almost no visual noise. Ifucking wish this game was like sekiro at all
Me, who played the old Armored Core games, Last Raven as my very first game as a kid, Armored Core 3 and Silent Line in Grade School, then Armored Core For Answer and Armored Core 5 Verdict Day in highschool, now in college with Armored Core 6, it is very weird to me that Armored Core is getting quite the attention. I'm not saying it's bad but like, it's just that weird feeling you know. It being like a game hidden from the mainstream but now it's being hit up by multiple people just feels weird to me at least lol. it's awesome though, truly, that many people are getting to know Armored Core.
I have done Balteus hitless. Though it took me 8 hours of learning how to dodge every attack in every circumstance, I have done it. Also, cheers Vaati.
Exploring and using different routes is so key to success in AC.. I love it.. I am like wow I can climb up here, Oh hey I am behind them now.. haha lets go
As soon as two thirds of the video were over before chapter one ends, I knew exactly what the answer to this question was gonna be and where it would inevitably end 😂
@@LargeInCharge77 This. 100%. While some bosses, if you play it right, can be no-damaged, there's a few where you quite literally cannot avoid every instance of damage. Like, for example. The enforcer. You're not going to no-damage that. Some of the lasers have 0 warning with low damage, and if you stick on him too long to avoid those, you're going to get slapped with a wave of pulses.
@@senounatsuru6453 I know this is an old comment but I do want to make a small clarification. For the most part "no damage" means avoidable damage. Tunnel Sabotage is basically a poison swamp and there is actually no way around losing life, The rest of them game is damage avoidable. Don't believe, me? I have a video that compiles each mission in a FoR endinf playthrough with the misisons being completed hitless. Furthermore I've completed chapters 1, 2 and 5 hitless. Chapters 3 and 4 are a bit more tricky but I've got chapter 3 down to 6 hits and chapter 4 down to 11. The actual difficulty is terminal armor on some of the enemy ACs. There is no way to kill them outright.
Seeing you put actual thought into your loadout is amazing. I've never played any AC games before this one and had no idea what to do, so I just went "two missile launchers on the back, sure. One rifle, why not the one you have at the start, seems balanced. One melee weapon, starter blade is fine, okay" (until the funky missile spam drone, after which I saw the pile bunker and decided I could never use anything else ever again). I think I only used different weapons twice in the entire playthrough, when I absolutely couldn't hit something with the explodey stick :D Also, thank you for the tutorial video. If I hadn't watched that, I might have decided to just stay away from every enemy and just use missiles forever, but hitting them in the face is much better.
I like the part about customization. I have a good dozen of different builds that I all like and that I specially made, painted, optimized. But if I really struggle, I go back to a max tank machine gun arms big rear cannons build, that just tears everything to oblivion.
I want to say you can scan -> reveal an enemy / allow lock-on for missiles and peek more reliably. This came in handy for a specific, stealth mission about half-way through. You can absolutely play a fair portion of the game this way, but not all, obviously.
Side note, there's a mission where you escape an area that deals damage over time. You have to take damage there. It's possible to clear it without getting but, though, as this guy got so close (there were a couple of 0 damage grazes he didn't redo but they're avoidable I think)

@@c.s.7097scrub talk 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just finished my first playthrough of the game, with 28,7 hours played, exploring everything in the paths I chose.
I honestly can't be more happy right now. Im literally 12 years old again. This game is everything it always wanted to be. To me it is a masterpiece.
How interesting is the story? How many bosses are there? How much customization and collectibles?
There is a surprisingly well written story in this game that involves you. Although it is still an armored core game, so dont expect something extraordinary here.
There are about 10 BIG boss battles. then most levels also have at least one miniboss in it, and then ofcourse there are enemy ACs, and the arena making for the most thrilling fights and there are at least 20 of those + the arena where you fight them 1on1.
This game IS costomization, this shouldn't even be a question. the answer is just "yes" ofcourse there is a lot of customization and stuff to collect, this is armored core, this is the soul of the game.
Did you do intercept the redguns? I really didn't want to betray the vespers but I was getting so burned out on the other mission I gave up...
If you didn’t know, you have to play NG+ to get the “real” ending, lots more decisions and new missions unlock
I love fighting that thing in NG+ content. It feels like revenge for the first encounter.
I can definitely dodge these consistently."
haven't died to it since, even if I've came close w less than great setups.
edit: it has since applied to many, many other enemies as well. like the Stridor eye, wiped me my first few tries until I realized the timing.

God hearing Vaati unintentionally cook half the early negative reviews of the game on steam with that 'you can't lose if you're halfway competent' is just a joy to hear honestly.
That's where all the dislikes came from, lmao
Played Armored Core Last Raven, I reached the last mission then quit after dying uncountable times to the last boss. So I was quite young back then, never really came back, though I do believe I'm halfway competent.
Imagine being stuck on the first boss... I would leave the internet forever.

Which is stupid. People bought the game not expecting a souls game. What did we get? a Sci fi mech game with souls bosses crammed in.

You love to see it!
Legit heard the intro and thought “Oh damn Vaati’s on some ymfah shit now” 😂
The Strider mission made me sad. The height limit prevents you from climbing it without destroying the leg, even though its possible.

Having acquired all the achievements in ACVI. I can say without a shadow of a doubt you are a masochist for doing this.
Yeah fantastic gameplay you just described

I think it's probably possible to no-damage beat Sulla, but I think it'd be perfect play and luck at the same time, and that's beyond mind-numbing to try and grind through.
Maybe instead of doing a perfect no damage run, you could go for a segmented run? See how many of the missions you can beat no-damage rather than letting any particular one roadblock you. The ones where you succeed it's great to see how you went about doing it!

I mean if you just play the game outside of chapter one you see that there are situations you cannot avoid damage in
@@LargeInCharge77 This. 100%. While some bosses, if you play it right, can be no-damaged, there's a few where you quite literally cannot avoid every instance of damage. Like, for example.
I think I only used different weapons twice in the entire playthrough, when I absolutely couldn't hit something with the explodey stick :D
Also, thank you for the tutorial video.
