- The X6 gets some updates from BMW for 2025. On the outside you will find a revised front end. On the inside you will be greeted by a full leather interior massive infotainment and digital gauge cluster screens. Under the hood is a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. I'm a BMW fan for life love the X6 good video 📹
Owning one, it’s very comfortable, even at high speed, HOWEVER! if you’re coming from a inline 6 or V6, you will not have that PULL feeling.
Engine so powerful that it doesn’t need to “pull” to get you to that high speed.
That color is WOW.
If only the Genesis GV80 had a twin turbo V8… great review as always Joe!!

I think that the Genesis GV80 coupe's exterior design looks more elegant than the BMW X6. Same things can be said for the interior. But when it comes to mechanical performance, we'll have to give it to BMW. I am just happy that in Canada, the Genesis GV80 coupe is so much cheaper than in the US. It only comes with the top trim with better specs than the US models and a set of 20" winter rim and tires.

I know that the leading car magazines in Germany would never compare the 3 German brands- BMW , Mercedes and Audi to any Japanese/Korean brands.
Their luxury cars are the best in the world and still have their superiority over the other brands .
That's a good point if you compare german cars to japanese / korean cars, but don't forget british luxury cars like Range Rover, Bentley or Royce Rolls . These are the "top luxury" brands
I definitely agree with you regarding the British Luxury Cars.
They are as good as the German Luxury Cars and much better than the Japanese/Korean Luxury Cars.
First of all I'm pleased to see the functional corner air curtains on the front bumper.
I'm okay with the gloss black on bottom portion of the front bumper because it's not the area that has risk of get dirty by fingerprints.
The calipers with the M badging are so nice.
In the past I used to think that only natural wood trim and leather seats make interior of cars luxurious, but today it's so nice that there are also other trims such as carbon fiber trim that makes car luxurious.
I like the textures on the seats as well.
Helped my neighbor load up the same X6 for a trip. The inside smells wonderful. Its beyond new car what most people know. Most people know of new carpet, plastic and fake materials that mimic the real thing. This is like really rich leather. Almost a Range Rover sport.
Comparing a BMW to Genesis? If I haven't been following you for years, I would have thought that you have no idea what you are talking about... or you just want to give a hard time to some bmw fan boys... good review as always!

2:00 pretty cool BMW used a pulsing animation for the turn signal. Curious as to why they didn’t do the pulsing animation on the rear turn signals as it’s featured on the X5 and X7.

Flat out BMW has up'd their performance in all their models like crazy! Do you see how hard it lifts up at slightest tap on the gas? Damn its powerful!
Definitely would pay 111k because it checks off everything every man's list, from practicality to performance and because BMW is really the ultimate driving machine. I drive the 2024 BMW X6M

Normally I don't love the X6, I don't love Isle of Man Green, and I really don't love the "M-Sport" kind of cars in general. But man, the whole package of this thing, it's an amazing spec. I think the no-roof-rails is what does it for me. Beautiful car. And I think compared to a true X6 M, this has a more easy-going kind of vibe that is cool and confident in its own way - and I bet a perfect daily.

Great review as always. I hate the move to these panoramic screens, any brand, any model. They look like afterthoughts, and misplace both the instrument cluster and infotainment screens and have no glare protection. I do like that BMW (and Genesis) have infotainment controller wheels so you don't have to cover the screen with fingerprints. Love the color.....

No contest. The BMW smokes the Genesis in any performance metric. This being the V8 is just cruel and unfair to the Genesis, but even the I6 version of this matches or outperforms any version of GV80 Coupe. No contest. The Genesis is clearly more luxury biased and is outmatched here.

It's definitely worth it and there is no comparison to the GV80 Coupe with supercharger - the X6 40i is closer but still faster at about the same price.

I think the question ends up being how much is the performance worth to you. Really been liking the 2024 gv80. I dont ever need the big performance that a platform like this brings and IMO the technology and quality is very similar. Beautiful vehicle though

Really like this steering wheel compared to the new one on a lot of models. The redesign looks cheap to me.
My jaw didn't drop when I heard the price. Why because with the brand and prestige. It cost to have top shelf performance and technology. Then keep in mind you are driving legendary automobile pedigree. That's not cheap.
You want to know the real value in owning a Genesis SUV? Join a Genesis owners forum and listen to the owners lament over one problem after another, from A to Z. It's really eye opening.

Joe I’m on my 3rd bmw , 2 convertibles and a x3 previous all I can say is that this is my last bmw the vehicle / brand just doesn’t do it anymore exterior/interior doesn’t have the wow feeling and what u get for the price just isn’t worth my current is 71k and no vented seat as a option period and in central Florida swamp. Azz isn’t fun
Personally I feel the genesis is much more bang for buck and even in some sense a steal compared to This or the GLE coupe. I got to ask you Joe what is your favorite SUV Coupe if any ?

I can see the GV80 Coupe getting to 60 in 5.3 seconds - definitely not 4.3 seconds.
You need to drive one.
Most reviews don't quote a 0-60 for the GV-80 coupe. The only other one I watched said "just under 6s" (which surprised me given 400+ HP/torque).
Unlike the X5 (that has a small strip of body color under the nose) the solid gloss black is a bit annoying.
Real good discussions in comments. Weigh reliability if considering Range Rover, SVR, or Merc.
Test drove that exact config m60i not long ago. Breathtaking. 22's are a tiny bit rough on my senior tush, and in Canada, they don't offer air suspension, sadly. Not a show stopper. BMW did manage to sort the stop-start mechanics from a couple years prior. Yay!
Both look good. Basically do you want 3/4 of a chocolate bar and save a buncha bucks ... or assuming affordability, do you want the WOW driving experience!
Wait 2 years and get the BMW for the same price as a new Genesis. If the exterior and interior were up to the same level as the performance then maybe. There is something off with the proportions from the side view. What's with the black on the front? Then again you certainly had a good time driving it.

Love its color and performance but the price makes me wonder if BMW is trying to price itself out of business !
Neither the X6 or the Genesis GV80 Coupe are worth what they are charging. Most people will never get to utilize the horsepower of the X6. All most people need is comfort and the ability to quickly merge into traffic.
That said the vehicle looks good apart from the curved screen. I just don’t get it. There was a reason vehicle manufacturers put a shield around the driver information……..To cut down on sun glare. Apparently it doesn’t exist anymore because these screens have way too much glare.
To me the Ranger Rovers have the best interiors now. With a great blend of classic luxury……..Tech and a quasi minimalistic environment.

Joe I think if Genesis will spend the money to make a performance edition to all its sedans and SUVs they could steal some of the market share from BMW and Mercedes. IMO the interior of the Genesis is way better. But come on Genesis give us one for the road😅!

LED tech supposedly has superseded it. Might be a reliability/cost issue.

The thing that I like about the Genesis GV80 Coupe more than the X6 and GLE Coupe is that it's actually meant to be the sportier of the two GV80 bodystyles whereas the X6 and GLE Coupe aren't sportier than their non-coupe counterparts. The reason why is that the GV80 Coupe gets the same 3.5L V6 as the regular GV80, but it benefits from more performance with the addition of an electric supercharger increasing the power output to 409 horsepower. The X6 has the same power output throughout all trims as the X5 and the same can be said about GLE Coupe with the regular GLE.
