4:27 "Choose a colorless card to obtain" can only give you a choice of uncommon colorless cards. It's not out of the entire pool, it can't give you a rare colorless card.

CAW CAW! My favorite is swap out the starting relic with a boss one and let it define the run... Or kill the run before the first floor

@@3hourgames i had one just earlier today! I just picked the easiest path to act 1 boss, died to it, and restarted.

I would say that sniping elites is a lot more of a high risk/high reward strategy than a general rule of thumb for success. Skipping early combats to get to an elite often means that you are missing out on important card rewards. More often than not, you'll end up dying to the next elite, the boss, or early in Act 2.
I also kinda disagree about what you said about rare card starts. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your meaning, but you should DEFINITELY lean into a rare card once you've got it, otherwise it's basically just a curse. You don't NEED synergies to start a run with a good rare card. Fiend Fire will be great for starting out even without FNP or Dark Embrace. And you should be looking for ways to capitalize on your rare card as you go. Rare card starts are great for giving your deck a direction right away. If you get Storm of Steel on Silent, you should definitely be looking for Accuracies and other shiv synergy cards ASAP.
You kinda blew by transforms and didn't do them justice. Transforms are AMAZING from Neow. Transforms are basically like a remove and a card reward all in one, but the secret is when you transform, you will actually have a higher chance of pulling powerful rare cards than you do through normal card rewards. Unlike a normal card reward that is based on what cards you have already seen, a transform is a simple equal chance of pulling any card from the deck, so rares are just as likely as commons.
Colorless rares are pretty meh honestly. Early Apotheosis, Hand of Greed, The Bomb, or even Master of Strategy are great, but the other rare colorless cards are dogwater, and you've just thrown away a blessing from Neow for a curse.
You missed common relics for free which is almost always a great option. The common relic pool is actually quite strong, and you get it without any cost of HP, gold, or a curse.

I will agree on most of your points, actually. For a lot of what you said, I had originally gone into a little more detail on the WHY I gave my points, with specific examples on cards that would be good or wouldn't. The video was way too long, it was a mess to try and watch, and quite honestly it was pretty boring.
Sniping Elites - I typically try to make the elite my third combat, early in the map so that I don't miss out too much. I agree it is high risk/reward.
Rare cards - I guess I really didn't explain myself well. Your example with Fiend Fire or Storm of Steel are Excellent reasons to push those synergies. In my experience though taking cards like corruption, nightmare, etc which are excellent cards can hurt a run early on if you aren't exceptionally careful. What I wanted as a takeaway was that it's dangerous to laser focus on only one strategy (in your example, if I passed on any card that didn't have exhaust synergy) because you may end up passing on excellent cards that will help you in the NOW.
The common relic...that's completely on me. I agree with you 100% and I actually had a really good segment recorded for that, I'm pretty embarrassed to say I completely forgot about it when I was putting all my clips together.
Thanks for the feedback Ruckys! Glad to have discussions on the channel!

@@3hourgames Yeah, I agree that rare cards are situational. Corruption is definitely a curse on floor 1.
Videos about the starting bonuses are hard to make just because of the nature of how they can be combined with cost/benefit. For example, I'm a big fan of 250 gold, and at the cost of max HP, it's basically free, but with a curse, it's basically worthless.

Disagree with sniping elite, but agreed on your other points. The reward for getting a free elite usually offsets losing out on the alternative starting reward and early hallway fights. The elite gives you an extra rare card and relic that you otherwise wouldn't have gotten. Unless your choice of cards and the relic you got are garbage, it's generally worth it.

I know having the 1st 3 enemies with 1 hp is a waste but it feels so good just to get it in with a few free cards

Totally worth it if you can snipe an elite.

Sniping an elite for 1 hp is never not worth it but considering early act 1 events are typically not really that good its almost a waste or net neutral to path into multiple of them early for a free elite and the more i play this game the more i find this starting bonus to be even more useful when im able to hit 3 hallway fights and either a shop or a campfire to start, which basically puts you on the doorstep of an elite with your max hp, 3 free card rewards (essentially a "choose 1 of 3 cards" starting bonus 3 times) possibly more cards or a cheap relic from a shop with a potential card remove or a free upgrade if at a fire. Imo an underrated candidate for best start in the entire game

It's really not a waste. On A20, it is very common to take unavoidable chip damage on the first few fights. Floor 1 Jaw worm in particular can nearly kill Silent with bad draws.

    • @juanquntos7123
      @juanquntos7123 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

It's not good on lower ascensions, but on higher ascensions it means that you get to upgrade rather than rest or get an extra reward from an elite, so that's huge, actually might make it the best start.

Don't say Calling Bell isn't effective. You trade three relics for one. It's rare when I obtain Calling Bell in the swap and don't end up fighting the heart. I don't disagree with anything else said in this video though, nice intro for new players.
