    Blows my mind that's how A1up decided to package the rifles. When you lifted those out my first reaction was the rifles weren't even covered up/protected! Great mod with the weights. I've done similar mods with some of my custom painted star wars nerf guns giving them weight.

      yea, I was surprised they were packaging facing outward instead of being more protected

    I mooded these guns in a similar way to the video, What I did was so there's no damage to the gun or gun cap is I used ultra thin plastic packaging that a USB dongle came wrapped in...I cut 2 inch long strips of the plastic packaging & about half an inch wide...I slid it down the cap & moved it all the way around the cap on inside to losen all the glue & then if you look where the camera is behind the lense you can see at each side there's a little plastic clip, So you get the same piece of plastic packaging & push it accurately where only one of clips are & try push it in hard without creasing the piece of plastic packaging once pushed down far enuff twist the cap of the gun slightly & pull at the same time whilst the plastic packaging is still inserted & wham my friend's the cap pulls off sweet with zero damage to anything & you can commence with your button mod & weighted stock.
    I used 24mm sanwa clone microswitches then you just watch this video & do exactly as this awesome guy does.
    Big love to this guy because without this video I wouldn't have had any idea to be able to pull off the cap.
    With the weights I used a simple bath sponge 🧽 I cut it in half longways & slit it open with a craft knife same as you open an hot dog bread then I went to my toolbox & found heavy nuts & bolts & inserted them into my hotdog sponge & then I wrapped up the slit I cut in the sponge with tape & shoved it in the stock area of the gun, I used this method because the nuts & bolts won't rattle & the sponge keeps them inside the gun preventing them from coming loose when gun is in use & also when you put the gun back together it squashes the sponge & it's never going move out of position this way.
    Top Video Mate " Big Love To Ya"

      Awesome tip Mr. Cash!!!
      Used one piece of plastic around your measurements that I cut off a container of screws lol. Slid the plastic piece up one side of the barrel towards the clasp. Pulled both caps off within minutes! You are so smart yo! Thanks!!!

    Thanks for sharing! I do wonder whether you can really even notice the clicking micro switch when the game volume is on and you’re pumping and shooting in rapid succession. Seems like you would have to be paying extra close attention to that one element to notice it. Neat mod but the risk of damaging the guns outweighs the potential benefit for me on this one.

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      interesting point! for me it's less about the sound of the click, but actually feeling the tactile feedback from it. the range of movement is small on the trigger so the clicking response helps make sure you are pressing it each time.

    Great mod and video! I was planning on doing something similar, but with dynamat to try and make the guns sound less hollow. I'm hoping to use a combination of the dynamat and weights now.
    I guess increasing the trigger travel didn't work for you? Was really curious about that idea.

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! Besides the microswitch mod, i didn't change much else to the travel of the trigger since there were already so many parts. the tactile feedback from the microswitch helped alleviate some of the issues i felt with the short range. Hope your mod turns out well!

  • @TadSimmons
    @TadSimmons 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good info. I am definitely going to balance the guns! Do you have a part number for the microswitches? I'd prefer to get a small package of microswitches I'll probably use elsewhere than discard a button body...

    Great video Kong.. I do have a question for you about transfer the part from Arcade1up big buck gun to Arcade version Gun. Is there any three party companies that have the same spec to transfer the from one gun to another? Have you explored other mod options Because in time how long do think the gun from arcade1up will last of some have kids or company that cant understand they are cheap or in time they will break if customer isnt careful!

  • @michaelmo1977

    When I assembled the gun the trigger seems to be pressing against the side of the assembly and it no longer clicks and actually feels worse than the stock gun. I think I put the spring and trigger back on the same you demonstrated in the video. It clicks fine before putting the gun back together. Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      check the section where I had to cut a piece of plastic before putting it back together. there might be something that is preventing it from clicking when going back together

  • @joekoskovics1796

    Nice video, thanks! I just did this mod, it was going smoothly until I closed one of the guns and pinched the wires to one of the switches. The wires completely split. Dumb mistake but I was able to strip the wires and reconnect them to get the switch working again. I'm looking for a more permanent solution to fix the wires, hoping to just replace the switch wires. Does anyone know the size of that connector ? I have wires for other buttons with the same terminals but the connectors are much larger on them... Never seen small connectors like that, having trouble identifying a good replacement. Thanks!

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey Joe, you'll need .110" connectors that fit sanwa style buttons. here's a sample of the encoder wires that come with those smaller connections. as long as you have enough slack to reconnect the wires, you should be able to just keep them spliced together using heat shrink tube, Solder and seal tubes, or electrical wire.

    If i want to do the weight mod, is it possible to do it without taking the entire gun completely apart? It looks like when you showed the weights closer to the end you just had the back part or gun stock off, if i dont have to take the cap off to do it, it would be nice...

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, you can remove enough screws to just remove the stock part to add weights. just be careful as you still need to pry open a good amount of the gun for it to come out

    Do the triggers pull further back when you install the new switches? I can see where the clicking sound comes from, but I’m not sure if the new switches allow more freedom for the triggers to move.

  • @flatjesus

    Thanks, these mods are great! One thing I've noticed on my arcade1up version of Big Buck Hunter is that it's much more difficult to rapidly fire than on the commercial BBH units. It's especially noticeable on some of the bonus games. I think it may be a result of the a1up pump having a weak spring -- it feels like it doesn't spring back as quickly after you cock the gun, and it therefore takes longer to disengage the microswitch and allow you to start a new reload. Do you have any thoughts on adding a stiffer spring to the pump of the a1up gun?

    • @KongsRUs
      @KongsRUs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't played the original enough to know that was an issue with the cocking mech. Could be worth a try, but I can't say for sure it'll improve the issue you mentioned.

    • @andycash1521

      Turn machine off for a few hours & turn off by the mains plug too & then turn back on, If you get no joy hold 1-player & 2-player start buttons for 5 sec's & go to reset & reset it & then exit that & turn off again for a further few hours & when you switch it back it should be good.
      If that doesn't work you will have to contact Arcade 1up or contact the retailer you purchased from & demand an explanation & demand a replacement.
