She is actually Canadian. She raised her siblings. Her parents were killed in a car accident in 1987 in Ontario. She was 22 years old & took responsibility of the care of her younger 2 brothers & sister. Of all the tragedy's in her life she turned out ok and became one of the best country singer's

This woman has had more tragedy in life than I think any of us could deal with. Despite that, she is one of the biggest country music stars ever. She lost her voice in the early 2000's ( I can totally relate to that). She managed to claw her way back to being on top of the world. I have nothing but respect for this woman!

Yeah.... She broke the system for a lot of young boys lol. I think I was like 12-13 when this came out and it was "problematic" lol.
So true!! Where I grew up it seemed that every boy in the 90's wanted to be with her and all the girls wanted to be her. EVERYONE LOVED SHANIA!!! We loved the way her music was up beat, energetic and calming at the same time.
Sadly for everyone, her husband messed up with her best friend, who she took, along with her friends husband , on tour, for emotional support and friendship. So she went back home for quite a few years, and took a break.

Shania is a natural beauty and a real down to Earth person. I watched a documentary of her years ago and it was very interesting about her music career, and also sad. She lost both parents in a car accident & had to be the strength of the family for the remaining siblings.
She actually really is just how she seems! I met her! I was too nervous to approach her but I (rudely honestly I shouldn’t have starred haha) starred in awe, she smiled at me and said come say hi sweetheart. She’s just wow!
Netflix has a recent documentary out now about Shania Twain titled "Not just a girl" I highly suggest watching that. She gives being Canadian 5 out of 5 stars .....she is awesome .

Shania was the first to show her bellybutton in country music and people just about had a stroke. Shania is a very good song writer and has written a number of her own songs this being one of them. I hated country in the 80s, but Shania, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Travis Tritt... changed my mind in the 90s. I STILL hate Coward of the County... an earworm that never really goes away.

This was on an excellent album , almost every track of which I used to sing along to. Riding on the country crossover wave of the late 70s and early 80s, the production, the styling, her sass and her voice made this and other tracks like "Man! I feel like a Woman!" theme songs of the Girl Power movement of the 80s.

Shania recently performed this song at a live event and updated it by changing the Brad Pitt line to Ryan Reynolds. Of course this was with Reynolds in the audience , he seemed to appreciate the change.

"Looks Like We Made It" is another great song with a different sound compared to this one. My wife and I enjoy playing it over and over. Married 52 years and that song says it all for us.

One of my favorite singers, favorite songs ever, all good for me. Always dug her voice. She's 54 or 55 still looks great. What impressed me about her when she sung underage in a club in Canada. Did so to support her young siblings after both parents died in a car crash. She has character! Said to be a very nice woman also.

Your genuine reactions are EXACTLY the point. Thank you. Also, thank you for going to the original video. There are a few times a live version is better, but for many of these songs, the video told the story the band intended to tell. The way we were exposed to much of this music was seeing it for the first time and only then hearing it on the radio.

Ms Britt, you know we almost lost that beautiful voice, she was bitten by a tick and got lyme disease and lost her voice, for a long while...thank God it came back slowly, but its back....shes been through a couple of rough marriages too, she a strong woman..you would look good in that outfit, 😊❤

If I remember correctly, her parents died in an accident. She was already playing guitar and singing but now she had to earn a living at it. She most definitely has! ❤

Netflix did a documentary on Shania Twain on her life. It is amazing what she had to overcome to be where she is. My brother and sister in law worked with Shania in her early days when she worked at a resort in Northern Ontario called Deerhurst. Brother musician sister in law dance.captain.
