    Wow! So glad I stumbled across this video. My Android program, Remote Control for Smart WiFi, did not have the additional instructions for connecting to my Instant Pot via WiFi on my phone. I could *not* figure out why it would not pair!
    Thankfully it worked and now I am all set up to use it. I had already done the water test. 😁
    So... I have some pork chops. Now to find a yummy delicious recipe.

    I'm fairly skilled in setting up devices like this, have a Sonos system and an Anova Sous-vide cooker, Kasa switches and Arlo cameras. Cannot get this Instant Pot to connect, "Unable to connect to Instant Pot XXXXXXXXXXXXXX". Tried calling tech support but they are only open M-F 9-5 EDT, which is super convenient to those of us with businesses to run. I'll try Monday. I'm sure they aren't busy with the Christmas rush.

    Hey, I am blind and cannot see the screen, & To use technology I use an screen reader on smart phones.
    I was hoping you could demonstrate the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker With WiFI item so I may know if it will work with a screen reader I will like to buy one for my kitchen?
    Turn on screen reader on your smart phone:
    Apple just ask Siri turn on voice over or Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover.
    Android, hold volume up+ and down- at the same time, or Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack.
    And will it work with Amazon Echo devices?

    Very clear and informative video. You mentioned eggs but I read a review saying this model won’t cook them. Any thoughts? I just bought this model but am considering returning it (unopened) for a Max, due to canning capabilities. I only want one IP. Can you recommend this or Max more. Thanks so much

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi ErinRose! I'm glad you thought the video was informative! Setting that thing up can be a bit of a challenge but works great once it's set. I'm not sure where you heard that this model doesn't work on eggs, but that's not true. I make eggs in mine every week and they're great! Good question on the Max re: canning. Here's what I know about canning in a pressure cooker - there are no electric pressure cookers that are approved for LOW ACID canning (not even the IP Max) but all electric pressure cookers are approved for HIGH ACID canning (like jams and tomato sauce, etc.) So, based on that, I'd say keep the Smart WiFi if you're doing high acid canning. I am definitely not a canning expert, but that's the info I've been given! Good luck and let me know what you decide!

    FYI, some routers use the same SSID for both 2.4 and 5.0 WiFi. The device will connect automatically to WiFi. So, no need to have the 2.4 and 5.0 WiFi networks apart. The can be combined.

  • @Cat-mf5rk

    Few Questions: Do you have to preset your cooking setting while you're in the same network (home before you walk away from the IP that was configured)? Once you've programmed to the IP (min 6:06) at what point do you rely on your actual WiFi rather than staying on your IP link? In the event the recipe calls for venting once the pressure is done cooking, will it over cook or burn the food if I don't get there in time? Thanks again for the video.

  • @RajanKannan11
    @RajanKannan11 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for this video . It’s very helpful. What if we start cooking manually without starting with the app, can we control the IP from the App in the middle of its cooking ? Can we intervene at any point of time using the app to change the cooking settings ? 🤔

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rajan! Yes, you can definitely use the app to intervene even if you started it manually. You just open the app, cancel whatever the pot is doing and set it to whatever you want it to do!

  • @Thespicyapron

    The older routers (a couple of years ago) gave the option of 2.4 vs. 5.0 but now the newer ones automatically know which one to pick!) Ah... the advances of technology! If yours doesn't say, then it's either REALLY old or it's one of the newer ones that will automatically pick.

    • @Thespicyapron

      Hi JK. You can program each button to be set to a specific time and pressure/temperature setting that it will remember for you, if that's what you're asking. For example, when I make beans, I almost always make black beans so I set my Bean function button to stay at 22 minutes. Then every time I push that button, that's what it will be. I can always change that manually if I want.

    The smart WiFi app has the preset for sous-vid, but it has no preset of that function on the cooker. Anyway I was curious if it will work so I fill up the pot with water that reaches the max mark and set it to cook on sous-vid on my iPhone. An error message pops up and say my lid wasn’t close but I did close the lid though.

    I love my pot. I love the app. I see the only benefit being the recipes and just hitting cook now and it being preset modes. Being able to turn it on and off from anywhere I see pointless. I'm not putting perishable foods in there and waiting all day to start it.

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree that I wouldn't put perishables in there all day then cook. But it is great if you want to toss some stuff in there and go run errands for a couple of hours then have dinner waiting when you get home! I'm glad you love the pot and the app!

    Try this to connect:
    * (if you’ve already failed, skip to bottom to reset Instant Pot to factory settings AND WiFi reset.)
    1.) Make sure your network is 2.4Ghz and not 5Ghz, some Home WiFi routers support both, connect to the one that is 2.4 GHz WiFi . If you don’t know ask some one like the person that set it up.
    2.) Turn your WiFi Instant Pot on
    3.) On your phone or tablet, Open the Instant Pot app that you installed from AppStore or Google Store, depending on your device.
    4.) Go through the app instructions and add your pot device and give it an English character / number name. For passcode, use 12345678.
    5.) Phone app will direct you to press and hold the pot’s WiFi on/off button for 3 seconds to activate the WiFi (aka Pressure Level button). You will see “APP” on the pot’s display.
    6.) Leave your Instant Pot app running and switch to you WiFi connection screen on your phone/tablet. Select the Instant Pot WiFi connection to let your phone connect directly to the Pot via WiFi.
    7.) Switch back to the Instant Pot app and press Continue to let your phone/tablet connect to the Pot.
    8.) If successful, leave your Instant Pot app running & switch to the WiFi setting screen, reconnect to the 2.4 GHz WiFi. Switch back to the Instant Pot app and it should be running and connected to the Pot via WiFi now.
    9.) If this fails:
    a.) back out of your app to the beginning screen and remove any pot device you tried to connect to previously (swipe left on the installed device to see the remove/delete option), then close the app.
    b.) reset pot to factory settings: holding down the cancel button for 10 seconds
    c.) reset pot WiFi settings: hold down WiFi button (aka Pressure Level) for 10 seconds
    10.) Do it all over again.
    Remember, don’t close Instant Pot app when switching back and forth between app and WiFi screen.
    Some phones may toggle between different available WiFi. Choose one 2.4 GHz and disconnect from all other WiFi. (Use Forget this Network in each connection properties)

    Amazon had this on sale for $90. I went to get it yesterday and it went back up in price. Do you know if it’s going to go on sale again?
    I hesitated getting it because of all the reviews that said it wouldn’t connect.

    • @Thespicyapron
      @Thespicyapron  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The $90 Amazon deal was a total steal! I have no idea when it will go on sale again, but I'd be surprised if it hits that price point again. As far as connecting it, I've connected mine multiple times with both an Android and iPhone and have always been able to connect. The instructions it comes with are a little hard to follow (which is why I made this video). I think if you follow along with this video you should be just fine.
