Great video! I have just bought what they call the limited edition Daiwa Tatula Type R Red by Rapala. This particular reel is made for the Thai market and I bought it online. Basically, is no different to a Type R aside from the sexy red paint job. Here is my question. The reel feels pretty smooth, but when I crank it I find there is a lot of noise. Personally, I couldn't work out exactly where the noise was coming from, but overall my impression is there is quite a bit of play in some of the parts such as the handle and the knobs which might have contributed to the noise. I have subsequently been trying to chat with various Tatula users. One guy from the Tackle Tour forum also cited the same issue. His exact comments were the reel feels loose. After that I also checked with another friend who owns a Tatula Type R as well as a T3 and he says this "excessive rattling" is normal because of the TWS. Since you a Daiwa guy and have multiple Tatulas, I am just curious whether you have experienced the same issue?
+Alex Fu Just took my reels out to check for noise. With both my Type R and Tactical, when my hand is actively reeling there is a rattle as you say. But as soon as i let my hand go for a free spool, it is smooth. There is a very slight play between the handle and body, which when torqued during active reeling will cause the unbalanced rotation to give off the rattle. It's not a screeching noise or grind though, more a rattle... when when outdoors, is barely noticeable for me.
+Alex Fu Update: Finally had a chance to get out on the river again. Although there is a little rattle when you are free spooling at home, when you are out on the water with line out... the retrieve is nice and smooth for me.
im super stoked to be getting one or two for Christmas! my first expensive reel and my second legit baitcast. going to be big jump from my $60 reel. which was nice at first, but now, at the end of the season, its starting to malfunction. it lets line go sometimes when even when the reel in engaged. anyways, wish me luck with it.
Nice video bro. I'm from India and would like to know how this reel perform now. I meant does it still smoth while retiving as it was new when u made this video. Becoz my black and Royel Legend is not remain smoth of retrieving after 2 to 3 month of use and I don't achieve that smoth as they come new. So kindly help me my by your suggestions.
I think this reel can handle fall chinook fine. It has 13lb drag which is plenty to fight big fish. I've caught big chinook and coho just fine. Regarding curados, I prefer Daiwa because of the easy one dial brake adjustments.
Hey I notice you're using braid fishing line in your new Daiwa Tatula Tactical reel. Are you using any form of backing in the reel to deal with the braid fishing line? And are you using any leader when fishing, when have braided fishing line spooled.
This or the 13 fishing concept A? Im about to buy one and keep going back and forth. Im leaning toward the Tatula tactical but I like the Concept A comes in a 5 gear ratio for a crankbait rod.
+mojo jojo I have a Lews bb1 pro. Great reel. The braking system is a little difficult getting used to of you are used to one brand of bait casters but I love it.
Sweet set up man! Drift fishing the cookie and yarn...two thumbs up
Ordered mine today in the 7:3:1 on sale for $150.00 pairing it with the Daiwa generation black razorback or bull pup . Daiwa J braid 30lb. Great video
on sale for 112$!
Just picked one up! Love my tatula so far!
+LadyBass Me too, it's the perfect balance between price and performance.

have fun with the new gear! with reels you'll notice the difference once you go above the $100 price point. beyond $200 is just splurging. :)

i got three of these reels and i love em too.
I love mine too. It looks nice, subtle and clean. And great quality so far.
Nice steelie! Looking into this reel. How do you think this reel would handle fall chinook? Also looking into curados!

sometimes I'll use mono backing to save from using so much braid. other times I'll tie straight braid, then reverse the line after a season.
Yes, for steelhead I'll use 12lb mono leader. maxima ultra green.
excellent video! great review! Thank you :)
good stuff man I was hoping you didn't get skunked on the new reel, anyway we can get some 4k fishing footage from that A7? thanks
Thanks, fishing is always enjoyable. catching is a bonus. unfortunately the A7ii does not do 4k. Only the A7S and A7r variants.
+yang4evr gotcha, thanks man
Very beautiful combo buddy! The reel performs well I'm guessing?
+Truong Nguyen Oh yes, I love the reel.. casting is smooth and it looks great! =) For the price, it can't be beat.
Sweet vid man! I subbed!
hows it cast? how good is the drag control?

Buy the Tatula for frogs, top water, soft plastics, jigs. Buy the concept A for spinnerbaits, cranks, etc.
+Lex Cooper I got the Tatula Tactical. I love it. Im going to get another one or the Lews BB1 Pro. Ive decided against the Concept A
+mojo jojo I have a Lews bb1 pro. Great reel. The braking system is a little difficult getting used to of you are used to one brand of bait casters but I love it.
Hello, where to buy a spare light roller for this multiplier. Does this size of the rollers exist in other models?
Any time i've need spare reel parts from Daiwa, I purchased directly from them. Quick and easy.
nice review... do you use a microphone?
+dolucks1 Yes, we plug in a small ebay microphone into the camera. I've updated the video description to include a link to the microphone.
well nice rod and reel , i have more interest of your camera, nice quality video, whats the model of your camera btw :) ?
It's the Sony a7ii, with the 35mm 2.8 lens.
its way better quality than Gopro man, I like your new video so much, keep it up I hope i can see more new fishing videos :)
nice vid, type of camera?
+dalegend08 Camera used was the Sony A7ii + 35mm lens.
How long did it take to ship?
Ordered it from Tacklewarehouse at the time, didn't take too long at all just a handful of days.
so the Daiwa Tatula Tatical and the Type-R are pretty much the same reel (disregarding the appearance)?
same body. but the tactical has a longer 100mm handle for more torque vs the 90mm NE type r.
What type of camera do you have?
I'm using the Sony A7ii.
@Tygerbye Now that you've had it for a while, how does the matte finish hold up to wear?
It still looks great. But I also dont toss my gear around like it's an ugly stik. =)
Thanks! Great Video!
Can I use it in saltwater?
Отличное видео!Лайк!Хочу себе такую катушенцию-однако в Украине мне это не по зубам !Спасибо за видео !!!Stas.
What's the Rod tht you have paired it with and where can I get it.. I am looking for 2pc rod..
this is a steelhead rod. 9'0" the lamiglas si model.
Do u get it 7ft
Lamiglas makes bass rods as well. They have the same carbon fiber look.
Can this reel handle 50-110g lures??
28 grams in an ounce? Definitely it can. Lure weight is more concerned with the rod
thank you !
does the tension knob click
unfortunately it does not click.
can you upload more snake videos?
Can it stand salt water?
I mainly fish in lakes and rivers, so I cannot say much on how it will hold up in salt water.
Can you get it in 7.1 gear ratio
And would this be a good choice for bass fishing?
ACDCRD it only comes in 7.3 and 8.1. and I love it for bass fishing. you get alot of value for the money with the Daiwa tatula reels.
what's the price
It's sold on Tackle Warehouse for $179
do tw deliver to germany? i want this beauty!
I'm not sure if they ship to Germany. But I do agree, it's a beautiful reel.
yeh I stuck around...
