Lost & found has been printed as an artist edition. In hardback.
I just bought the new Hanna Karlzon in Swedish from Bookus in Sweden and the paper can even take watercolours. I have a few Amazon printed books with that line through the printing, & I am in Australia.
The Canadian "Lost & Found" is a deeper black than the US version.
I have heard from Neko Simi, an AMAZING Colourist with her own channel on YT, had the new Kerby book sent to her from the USA & when it became released in Polish she also bought another copy in Polish. She said that the USA Kerby book would not lie flat, even trying to break the spine.
Tbh I just colour in the line with a black or grey pencil so it doesn't stick out and detract from the image.
Thank you for doing this video It was enlightening. Going to check my books tomorrow & will let you know! 💜💜💜

Glad you enjoyed the video! :) The printing differences around the world are so interesting! I'll have to check out Neko Simi - thanks for the rec! And thanks so much for stopping by!

I was pretty surprised when I got them both out to compare side-by-side! :)

Hi, I live in Massachusetts and I get all my books from Connecticut. I hate the paper it’s so thin. Idk if you ever watched Saffire colours? She lives in the UK she talks about getting books from Poland to get better paper. She orders books from the warehouse in hopes of getting better paper. I absolutely hate those lines on my pages with black backgrounds. They are in all of my books pretty much. I have to go through my books with create space paper because I swear some books are better than others. Thank you for the info now I know I can get better paper from Canada 😊

Thanks for the comment, Kristin! I haven't heard of Saffire colours - I'll have to check out the channel! :) Hope the Canadian Amazon "trick" can get you some better paper. :)

Oh my goodness the ones printed in Las Vegas or worse than what you got from Connecticut. I would kill to get one of those in the Canadian version.

That's too bad that your Amazon CreateSpace paper is even worse. :( You could try ordering from Amazon Canada but the shipping might make it not worth it. The paper is the new hardcover versions is better - maybe try one of those! :)

Interesting, Kylie! I'd love to get Amazon printed books from all over in order to compare paper and print quality but that would probably get pretty expensive - and then I'd have sooooo many copies of "Lost and Found" that I'd be awash in them. :) Thanks for sharing!

I assure you that you didn't get a bad copy from the US. I wish our black was actually black. The lines are typical as well, and not just when there is a black background.

That's too bad that you guys get such poor quality printing - so sad!

Amazon UK printing quality is pretty much the same as the Amazon US, it seems. Amazon Japan paper is definitely better, it doesn't feel that much thicker but it can take AL LOT of water and the printing quality is fantastic. I have tried to order from Amazon France just to see if the print quality in mainland EU is better and yes it is, comparable to the difference between the books in your video, I think.

Thanks for the info! I'm really tempted to order a book from Amazon Japan and maybe a copy from, say, Amazon Germany just to be able to compare - but the shipping would be pretty expensive. We'll see! :)

I find the Canadian printed Amazon paper isn't that great and could be better so I'd be super disappointed with a U.S. book. My Amazon books are printed in Bolton as well.

Very true - even the Canadian paper isn't great - I was just surprised that the US paper from CT seemed even thinner and the print quality was so bad! Makes me wonder what Amazon paper is like in other places and how it would compare. :) And hello to a fellow Canadian (I'm assuming since your books are printed in Bolton :))!
