I hope that he’s forced to embrace the aristocratic bruce Wayne side of himself for some detective work/intel etc I like that he’s young in this take on Batman so he has a lot of room to grow in this aspect especially considering he was a shy & barely seen bruce wayne in the 1st film. I want to see him have to be schmoozy and use his family name even if he doesn’t want to
There should be no season 2 focusing on the penguin. The series should serve as introductory material for villains appearing in The BatMan detective films. Kind of like true detective that gives detectives only one season.
Absolutely not. I beg them not to go Stranger Things with this and stick to an Anthology of Rogues. The only thing they could do with it is Os redeems himself which totally ruins this.
The Batman feels like Iron Man officially kicking off the MUC. The world is about to grow crazier and crazier, kind of like how Vision was explaining that the very existence of the AVENGERS incited the challenge. Now that the Batman has appeared to cure the sickness of Gotham, the city will resist with prejudice!
I would love to see Penguin hire a bunch of assassins a la Arkham origins for the Batman part 2. Deathstroke fits perfectly in a grounded realistic Batman universe. There Court of Owls could also be a good underlying villain to introduce supernatural aspects into the universe.
I kind of don't want them to go with the Mr freeze route because I feel that the premise isn't fantastical enough for a character like him to thrive yet again what do I know , very excited for The Batman II I'm sure it will surpass the expectations we have like The Penguin did . Rip Vic --'
If they did a version of Freeze, i could see something like as before hes a cryonic scientist that starts robbing banks with cold tech trying to save his ill wife, as well as revenge against the same corruption that led to her demise kind of thing in that same theme of broken people seeking redemption or vengeance. His character is "cold" without the literal suit and ice gun. I thought a version of Clayface could be basically Darkman lol
Reeves is obviously interested in a Sopranos - crime syndicate approach. I suspect a second movie with Catwoman, Hush and Penguin. I wouldn’t even be surprised if Julian Rush is Hush. The film will tease Harvey Dent, Joker and Riddler.
Penguin was clearly also heavily influenced by a one Alphonse Capone, himself a bootlegger/gangster that rose up also as a man of the people because he took care of his block, with soup kitchens and everything. Maybe similarly what brings down Penguin is the IRS, not Batman :D Capone's brain also basically melted from syphilis or something by the end, hard to know how far he really could have gone.
A grounded Clayface could work really well in this universe. It could be a blend of the golden era version with Basil being a masked murderer, mixed with him using cosmetics to change his appearance - similar to Darkman. He could even make himself look like Bruce at one point and frame him for murder. Perfect detective story.
I saw someone suggest that maybe Penguin’s meeting with the councilman and him being warned about Bella real’s anti corruption task force could result in HIM forming the court of owls, since if they existed in the first film wouldn’t riddler have uncovered it? A way to avoid treading similar ground would be to have penguin form the court of owls to enable the city’s freaks and criminals to thrive. It would also mirror Falcone from the first film while being a more theatrical escalation, showing the city has been replaced by someone worse.
You know what I love that theory. I hadn't seen or heard of it until you mentioned it, but it would be a clever way of doing things. The only thing that makes me hold back on that theory is this idea of historical corruption that Bruce started to unearth. The court of owls are known for being an organization that has been conducting things for a long time in the shadows and that may go against that. But Matt could always change things. It will be interesting to see what they do.
I know that he killed Vic to get rid of his another weakness in the future...but I almost broke my TV...we all felt betrayed.Cant wait for those upcoming ones, let's see what they're gonna cook up
The Penguin went from an intriguing character to a pure piece of shit through the season. Well done. Now we know he will die like Victor in The Batman 2.
I think penguin killed Victor due to the alliance he made the linc, to even get linc to kill zao or what ever his name is. When victor confesses he’s learning on the chance penguin gave him. Penguin seen that as a threat. In my opinion
Penguin utilized all the lower ranking members of the crime families to take out the leaders. It’s also what he did. It’s only natural that he would suspect some day victor would do it to him. So he just got ahead of it.

I'm pretty sure Matt has said that he felt the first movie was a bit crowded and wanted to make the second one more streamlined, so I highly doubt we'll see Penguin, Hush, and the Court all playing major roles. Matt's said that the events of the show were originally going to take place in the beginning of the next movie, and that the show leads directly into it, so I'm sure Oz will be the front and center villain, while I think the Court of Owls will be built up to for the third movie. I agree that a version of Hush will probably appear, I just don't know how or when. I suspect he'll be out for revenge for his father's death, maybe seeking Riddler's help like in the comics in order to finish what he started. Also, am I the only one who can't see any hint of an owl in the curtains?
I don't think he ever said that? He handled the amount of characters in the first movie exceptionally well either way. You keep everything from Batman's perspective so anyone else around him feels like they are there primarily there to serve his story, rather than fighting for screen time. I don't personally think Penguin will be the main villain, rather he will just continue to be a powerful presence in the world of Gotham's organized crime, like he typically is in the comics. Not to mention Colin recently said he has about 5 or 6 scenes in the next movie. Not sure if thats enough for main villain material.
@Joshcoshbagosh Unless I missed something super recent, I think the last time Collin said anything about his part in the next movie he hadn't seen the script. And I'm not saying I think the last movie was crowded, I'm just pretty sure that's something Matt said. It was a while ago, before he really started writing the script for Part 2, I believe, so I don't know how much stock to put into it. Either way, my point was just that it seems like way too much going on to have Penguin, Hush, and the Court of Owls all playing big roles as villains.
Gonna take a huge gamble here and say penguin will be the main villain for Batman 3. We’re most likely gonna get very small scenes of penguin in Batman 2 but towards the end it will be reveled he’s been running everything behind the scenes at the end of the movie.
I would love for them to have freeze but as everyone said they will definitely do hush even though hush isn’t that good in the comics I trust Reeves that he can make him a perfect villain
I think characters like joker riddler penguin catwoman potentially two face wouldn’t die. especially since were still in Batman’s early days and reeves loves the idea of an established rogues gallery.but it is an elseworld project so who knows
The Penguin having new ties with the Court of Owls and them being the main villains would be cool. Hush being another secondary villain whom we see have his hatred for Bruce boil throughout the film. Two face could be a part of Real’s anti crime task force, only turning into villainy in the third instalment. Joker being the main villain with Harley in the fourth one (hopefully there’s more than 3 movies and he changes his mind). Hangman and Catwoman in the third and maybe keep Penguin around for that interaction. They should bring Robin in the second and he could be who Vic would be if he chose the right hero. Bane in the 5th (might be doing too much but I’d like to see all of Batman’s main foes in this universe). Mr Freeze and Clayface don’t seem realistic for this universe.
The show perfectly captures how broken Gotham really is. Corrupt officials, gangsters, crimes etc. Batman can’t be everywhere and can’t fix the city and that’s what’s his whole character is all about, trying without killing anybody and become one of them. I feel in season 2 or future, penguin will definitely run for Mayor and will become one.
All i know for sure is the penguin will be in the movie....and Harvey Dent will be too. But The court of owls are for sure being foreshadowed. Easter eggs in both the batman and the penguin show
I’m a little confused. Is there still a chance for a Batman 3 ? If so setting Barry as the Joker would be fantastic!! Have him somewhat in the next movie and then be the main villian in 3 and have it be an epic 3 hour conclusion to the Reeves/Pattinson trilogy. I’m disappointed they didn’t go back to Vic after Oz strangled him. Showing that he catches his breath somehow, someone finds him, Oz doesn’t know. Lol I know I know, stupid idea
Just like all Hollywood pictures. The Penguin will get killed in The Batman 2. Everyone will get a piece of him from his comatose mother to the ghost of Victor.
Court of Owls / The Talon Harvey Dent in Real’s task force Penguin king pin of crime world ( Colin said only 5 or 6 scenes ) Joker causing chaos looming in background ( Keoghan’s teased he’s in it) Hush seems redundant to Riddler to me , mysterious identity, detective stuff and since it was already exposed and Elliot’s murder. They’d have differentiate and come up w something more. Only way I see Freeze is if his need for cold is a psychological condition condition ala Chuck from Better call Saul (but w/o electricity )after a break with his wife’s tragedy and uses realistic enhanced nasa cooling suit.
You have been indoctrinated by Disney. Where they love to bring characters back to life. Get that princess crap out your mind. Victor is dead. Common sense.

Matt Reeves has figured it out. Gunn needs to be working with him because his universe is the most interesting comic universe right now by far.
Let Gunn do his fake Guardians comedy DCU and let it fail, keep him away from the Reeves universe.
