The Penguin finale is here and what an episode it was. I breakdown the full episode and give you my brief review. I've got a Batman 2 video coming tomorrow and a review of the series on the way as well.
Masterful finale. It's subtle, subversive but very effective as the show has been from the start. It's a perfect journey for Oz into the classic Penguin & for the show as a comic-book gangster series that commits to the genre. And what Oz did to Vic shocked & unnerved me, because of how & when it happened, even when we're all predicting that. And like you, I want "Vengeance" on Oz for what he did in Part II.
Any chance of a Kevin Conroy tribute? Yesterday marked 2nd anniversary of his death. He was the best voice of Batman and made the Animated Series into a classic. I made a tribute to him using the classic 90's toys with footage from Burton, Nolan, Arkham and Injustice but I don't got ur reach, and he deserves much bigger tribute.
If Vic survives....he will become Victor Zsaz at that point. Running the streets with no identity as it was killed when Penguin threw his ID in the river and left for dead. Although, I think he is actually dead.
@@seattleryan5721 i was thinking maybe he ends up working together with Sofia if he did survive because the scene right after the ID card floating and just about vanishing goes right into Sofia scenes
@@mystikrebel1089that's just because the scene was over. I would love for him to be alive but I think it would undercut the show's ending and Oz's full transformation.
Awesome show!! One of the best I’ve seen in years. I agree, Batman must break every bone in Oz Cobb’s body. He’s a disgusting human being but still I have a slight bit of empathy for him. But that’s it. I still hope Batman kicks his ass I just wish we didn’t need to wait 2 years to see it
What shocked me about it was the fact that Oz didn't kill him to save himself or because the latter turned on him as I expected. He did it after seeing that he's at his most vulnerable with him. At first, I thought it's a bit sudden, but then it immediately makes sense given Oz won't have anything holding him from the top, even familial love, besides his mother.
@@themadtitan7603The worst part about is that the “familial love” with his mother is the one that has become his greatest burden and he’s actively denying it at the expense of the people around him. His girlfriend seems to be scared of him, seeming as if she’s forced to roleplay as Oz’s mother in order to satiate his pathetic need for love, and his mother doesn’t even love him anymore and now is essentially trapped in her own “vegetatious” body, which is exactly what her biggest fear was, asking Oz to kill her when she becomes a vegetable. But now, she’s hopeless, and the only consciousness she could muster was a singular tear of hopelessness.
Question for you & readers: Do you think it is bad writing to have Oz break free of the chair/restraints at that moment, considering how this was the 2nd time being restrained by Sophia? The 1st time in the greenhouse he was locked in that chair. However, the difference between those 2 scenes could be attributed to Sophia killing off many of the Falcone members, and thus her current crew at Monroes is not as adept for things such as tieing down a person. An example of such a change is the Ex-detective guy that has the Drops addiction. I'm interested if this stuck out to anyone else, and what you think. Cheers to a great show run! 💯
Not really. The problem with vengeful villains is they like to make personal things poetic. I assure you those chairs at Monroe’s, were probably no longer very sturdy. Oz is also a strong and heavy guy and that steel rod on his limp leg probably helped him snap that chair a lot easier. I also find it interesting that he doesn’t attempt to break free when his mother is in danger of being hurt, only when he was in danger of loosing her mother’s affection to the hallucination of his brothers that he began to panic an escape.
i think its neat that batman at the end of batman 1 realizes he needs to utilize bruce wayne (politics) to create real change. Then in this show Oz realizes that to obtain true power he needs both underworld and political power (him looking up at the mayor, with that smirk insinuating he has a new power ladder to climb). Batman 2 is gonna have alot of politics and I cant wait!
I definitely hope he's in Part II & we see Bruce's character develop with a genuine friend who like him, wants to help Gotham. The recent Arkham Shadow showed the dramatic potential of that relationship & character.
I'll explain the ending better for you: Bad guy wins, becomes president. ... oh wait, that was Trump/Musk. Close enough. /Perfect allegory for current events.
@@self-proclaimedcomedian1037Dude’s not wrong. The parallels to The Penguin’s rise to Gotham kingpin and any number of fascist political leaders are definitely there (whether you consider Musk or Trump fascists is another conversation). It debatable how intentional that is on the part of the writers.
@dot680 - "politically illiterate" 😆 The guy is literally a corrupt multi-felon, adulterer, serial liar, traitor who tried to overthrow democracy. And his buddy Musk (who's facing multiple fraud cases) helped him buy his reelection. You can't get any more supervillian than that in politics.

I found the scene right at the end of him dancing with Eve role-playing as his mum so unsettling 😬
that was the idea
I generally thought that it was an illusion because of denial and insanity.
@@redbrickhustla86 I am aware, but thank you for confirming 😂

Mayor Cobblepot has a good ring to it.

Its cobb in these version

@@AveChristusRex789 they did...but couldnt he change it to have a more wealthier prestigious ring to it...that's it he becomes mayor?
This show is among the best of the best. Loved it.
10 out of 10 ... I thought " the boys " couldn't be beaten but this show had me wanting more .... bravo 👏

That’s a very intriguing idea!
I was buzzing when I saw the bat symbol.. 🦇 👨
Oz. The king of Gotham.
I'm wondering if Rex is Oz,s father?.
Just give Matt reeves control over the entire DCCU

@creampuff9330 good point. That place was legit ran down. And that scene did well at showing that selfishness like how you described
Kinda why haven't they draw their guns too her as soon he went starting to go incredible hulk on those strains
A touch of realism. Oswald taking the cash out. Most films they never do that. Vic maybe is not dead.
So u saying my girlfriend could still be alive
