Sorry to be that person, but in the review you're saying "mega bits per second". MB/s indicates mega *bytes* per second, not bits. 900 mega bytes per second would be 7200 mega bits per second, so watch out for that. MB/s -> Mega Bytes per second, Mb/s -> Mega bits per second.
I just got a series s and got the seagate expansion card but I want a hard drive for storing newer games to eventually transfer as I want to play, as well as play older non optimized games. Is this my best bet for that / bang for the buck? What games can you play off it?
WD P50 is a little bit better ... but more expansive (of course... no miracle here...). You can only plya "OLDER" games of xbox, xbox 360 and xbox one. The "new" games (serie X or S..) needs to be played from internal memory or the expansion card from seagate... BUT... some people made some experiences : SOME games can still be playable from a "slow" external SSD, even if the Xbox serie X or S will complain. It doesn't work for all the games (No go with Forza motor 5).
i have series X instant on, and when i shut it down, the D30 SSD green LED light on the side keeps glowing, why is that? should it glow is it normal? or is there a way to shut the external storage down completely when it senses console is off?
Will this ssd be able to store and play X/S games? Because i have 1 2TB hard drive and i can only store xbox one, 360 or OG xbox games on it and not games that are optimized for X/S.
I saw one at Walmart yesterday for 52 I asked the worker if it was placed in the wrong spot because usually they are 90 bucks after he confirmed it was 52 I bought it immediately
@@shacknews it can play it off the ssd? Or do i have to transfer it? Because i keep getting told i have to transfer the game in order to play it. If you can try forza 5, and halo or gears playing it off the wd black ssd.
@@shacknews so then it is a better deal then the sea gate card but the sea gate card you can play those optimized games on without transfer, I just got a 4tb hard drive the other day that was made by sea gate for the new series x|s and it was only $123 after tax and it’s transfer speed from what I saw at the most was over a gig
I got a 2tb version of this and it transfers games under 1 min works great
M.2 ssd not the hdd
@@jessemedsker2579 is it still working problem free?
Can u play optimazed games from it?

Misspoke, thanks for at least telling us nicely, luckily the data is viewable too. - Greg
900mb/s tested..lordy, that explains why my Series X UI is so laggy and slow to load anything! lol

I've been using a standard run of the mill SSD and have had no issues. - Greg

can we put all the series games and play them without transferring them each time?
Yes you can move the contents of the entire drive.
Does this device works as an internal hard drive too? Like the expansion cards??
No, it's purely a external USB device for PC and Xbox.
You can shuck it and turn it into a internal hard drive
This will work on any console right? Not just restricted somehow to Xbox only? The 2 tb version is on sale locally so yeah 😂 just want to make sure.
It worked on PC, i don't have a PS5 to test it with.

You likely have to "shut down" the console completely, the Xbox goes to 'sleep' unless powered completely off

Its not as good as the Card Slot, it's still external storage

I picked up one today was on clearance for $32, gonna be using it with my Legion Go
Do you like it?
@shacknews it's not really fast as far as ssd's go, but still way faster than an sd card so yea for the price i love it

how do you take off the stand carefully? i'm afraid to break it.
I just pulled it off.

one or the other.- Greg

Can I Play Xbox SERIES Games Directly On It ? or should I transfer them ?
It's not gonna be as optimal as playing on the Internal drive
No, I mistakenly bought this brick. Might as well keep you HDDs if you've already got them.
Can you play xbox one games straight from the SSD please let me know just bought one
Yes, you play from this drive
@@shacknewscan you store & play s/x optimized games off of it tho?
No you can only play 360 games on back off it but if it's a x game you need to transfer it to the console first.

Yes, it can.

@@loitersquadX Certain Games will still require the internal SSD or Special Expansion slot SSD for peak performance play.

So you wanted an ssd, connected the company they sent you one, and you didnt even had an xbox to test it, WOW.
"I didnt had an xbox..."? what? I had a Xbox Series X if that's what you're asking.
