    Thanks for bringing me up to date on the SMF. Appreciate the no-nonsense info sharing. And you obviously know and use these knives so a credible review, how refreshing!

    I've never worn through titanium lockbar with a knife that has proper lock geometry. Steel lockbar inserts are not necessary. They are a gimmick to sell more knives. Great video. Thanks for the in-depth look.

    I'm new to strider, want to know more about strider, when compared to other knives like ZT, hinderer and others, strider seems to have less control quality and expensive price

    I just got a brand new current model SMF tanto. It’s got the aluminum gunner grip. They have evolved, but cannot say any generation is better than the other, because I just don’t know.
    Only thing I can tell you, is a brand new Strider takes time to break in, and it seems as if I’ll never get it broken in.

    I started getting the knives in the second generation. I don’t care for the newer knives as much.

    So many of the Striders have asymmetrical tip grinds.

    My new M. Strider has a radius on the lock face so wonder if they went back to that recently. Looks like that strategy slows the work over very effectively based on how old yours are!

      It seems like all production Striders theses days are made with a flat lockface. The only new ones Ive seen with a radiused face are MSC customs

      @@silvanusontheusn3447 I have a question. I have an all black Monkey Edge SMF -MEFP. in 3V. No stripes on the blade, just black along with the ME aluminum handle. Has the ME stamp on the blade and the other side has 'M.Strider" - grabbed it from Arizona Custom Knife. Are the collaborations still considered Strider Factory or a Mick custom. 1st Strider - hence the question. :O) It's 'little brother' is on the way. FWIW - everything on the SMF is flawless, as it should be for that asking price.

    • @silvanusontheusn3447
      @silvanusontheusn3447  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrPocketfullOfSteel So the Monkey Edge collaborations are 100% factory production knives. An MSC (Mick Strider Custom) knife has at minimum a blade that Mick has ground by hand. Some of them also have hand made handle scales but at minimum the blade must be hand ground by Mick.
      Some production knives are advertised to have a hand ground blade, but these are not MSC customs. They are hand ground by people that work in Mick’s shop and not my the man himself.

    I'll add that on my MEFP SMF there are absolutely no screws or markings of any kind on the Black Aluminum handle part. 4 screws on the flamed Ti and the one on the pocket clip of course and the LBS. FLAWLESS - if something down the road goes wrong with the SMF or the SnG I would send it to Strider I take it?

    Think I can tiger stripe a black oxide blade myself?

    • @silvanusontheusn3447
      @silvanusontheusn3447  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can if you have the right equipment. Strider uses bead blasting to make the stripes on their knives. If you have access to a blasting cabinet and a gun with a small enough tip you can do it

    These things are cool but I'd never pay 1k for this steel. I guess it's just a collectors item.
