A strider is also featured in the Netflix series “Love, Death & Robots”

Also, some people make slight lockstick waaaaaay worse than it actually is. Like, I've had a knife that I couldn't unlock with 2 hands using full force. I needed a separate tool entirely to unlock it. Ever since that experience I don't trip over slight lockstick, it's a feature not a failure unless you need to pry it open.

I have two off the rack SMFs, but a performance series is next in my queue.
You also may have noticed, in Terminal List, Chris Pratt was also rocking a pair of Winkler hawks, at around $900 each. Someone in the know brought the props in.

Yeah, the author of the books- Navy Seal Jack Carr. Had nothing to do with the prop guy, haha. I recommend the book series highly for knife and gear lovers.

Just purchased mine new on the secondary market...how to say this, I paid a ridiculous amount because like you, I was going dow the rabbit hole. From the first opening.... lock stick, OK check the pivot tension and then the pivot play...the blade in the 45% moved back and forth, there was a huge pivot gap. Took it apart and measured it Pivot OD 261.35 mm ID 261.52 a diff of 0.17 mm. Called Strider and they said no problem send it in RMA was given to me. Cool you might think, now I am in Australia and I need to ship return warranty thru US customs and Aussie customs without paying duty, my god the paper work! So for now my fix was packing the 0.17mm with high compression grease and keep the lock bar dry, sort of works OK for now.

Aw man Andrew that sucks. Sorry your first Strider was such a mess. The lock stick is pretty standard with every model, you can have the lock face carbolized which I hear gets rid of it but regardless I wish the owner would've been more upfront with you on the condition on it specially it being your first one.

@@RikkiHernandez thanks for the comment, the seller was retail, shown as new, I suspect he has been to every knife show in OZ demoing the knife, it had a lot of miles on it, not fair, he will trip over and hurt himself....lol
Possible fix is press fit a new pivot race in the blade, hardened steel. say 0.03mm would work, nobody has tried needle bearings...cheers

Did you get this on their website? Seems like that’s the best place to get them. I’ve seen a few on southern edges, too.

Love the spear grinds. I have a stonewashed in RWL 34 and she's as pretty as she is functional

This is a long shot but I just scored a Blacked Out Performance series SMF from Bladeshow 2023 but I personally would prefer a Tiger Stripe. Any chance you'd be interested in a trade?

    Hey Rikki!
Congrats on this beautiful SMF! Be assured, if you need to get heavy work done, you just can't go wrong!
    But also awesome EDCs!

I'm sure they make it in other steels, and at $750 it doesn't matter what steel you put on it. You're not paying for material costs you're paying for the make, but still. CPM 154 on a premium production knife in the year of our Lord 2023.
That's some basic b!tch stuff right there.
