At one point in time I owned 17 striders. SnG’s, SMF’s, PT’s....3v....Zwear....PD1....PSF27...all the cool steels. I then sold all but two SnG CC Zwear examples. Then literally months later they announced they were ramping down production. One of my biggest knife regrets ever.
They couldn’t sell them worth a damn and even now they are available unused but “used” for lower than what they cost on forums.
@@Montblanc1986 uhh, no. You are lying out of your ass. Striders were NEVER hard to sell and they are essentially unobtainable now. Even the most basic models are selling for well over what their retail price is. New ones only come out in very small batches, sell out instantly, and then are resold for sometimes double on the aftermarket.
You gotta be looking at fakes, or you’re just talking shit.
John is correct. If you're seeing prices well below what they normally go for, you're seeing fakes. Strider knives have always been in crazy high demand and it remains that way.
@@metal_complex I can’t find an SMF for under $800. I found the knife swap on Reddit, and as soon as one goes up, it’s gone.
The only way I can get one, is pay big money on eBay.

I have a Strider SNG with Gunner grips from quite a few years back. It has been and continues to be my favorite folder.
I recently was able to find/buy an SMF and am smitten as well. I recently was in on a SnG drop and was sniped in the checkout process. They are produced in very limited quantities and immediately increase in value due to supply and demand. You literally need a "Bro Deal" or be at the right place at the right time... period. I also have the Pro PT, but am really wanting to wait for the Strider SnG. Enjoyed the review!

Yup man, i missed out on a murdered out sng also. Got this smf, 5.11 smf, and a zipper but striders are solid so keep hunting dude u wont be disappointed
@@rayroy3737 Soon to be 57yrs. old - running out of time. It kills me when I see folks with one they don't even use (not a SCRATCH ANYWHERE)or they say they have 4 of them, three for the safe blah blah blah - what about the folk that not just want one but would ACTUALLY USE ONE HARD everyday for the rest of their life, not to open boxes or cut paper...lol. :O)
@@MrPocketfullOfSteel I feel you. I’m 60, and struggling to find one that’s not 1k. I just want a plain Jane tanto, with the textured G-10, with blasted blade, and lock side, because I’m going to use it.
I absolutely love my SMF brown G10 Lego, flamed lock side, and CPM 154 the edge just strops to an amazing mirror polish finish 20 degrees per side 40° inclusive it's such an amazing knife
The lock bar stabilizer design is Hinderer. They’ve got something worked out, where Strider uses his design.
The 0350 is the closest I’ll ever get to a strider 😂 (it’s a Strider/Onion Collaboration). After getting the 0566 I am convinced on getting a XM18 someday.
That knife looks so much more attractive from the lock side...

I'm not usually one who purchases clones. That being said, the one clone I do have is a carbon fiber/titanium SMF that sells on Amazon for 70 dollars. The action definitely isn't as good as the one seen in this video but it is an amazing hard use folder. The lockup imo is better because it's later which I think is safer personally. And I actually prefer the looks of the clone over the real ones. The reason why I was ok with buying it was because I couldn't get ahold of the real one. If I do get a chance, I'll still but one. But in the meantime, the clone is a great consolation prize. Also. after reprofiling the edge, this thing cuts through cardboard better than almost all of my knives. It doesn't make sense cause the blade is so thick. And it's not even that thin behind the edge but it CUTS! If you can't get the real one, I highly recommend the Amazon clone.
I’ve been interested in Mick Strider for about 6-9 months now. I’ve yet to find one at a retailer online. I’ve found a few customs but the prices are outrageous. I mean the ones that retail for $450-600 are selling for almost double from what I’ve seen. I haven’t gone all out trying to find one but look pretty often. Hopefully I’ll find one sooner than later.
This question is for metal complex: Does all strider knives have the spartan helmet on it
Strider is my favorite knife brand at this point - thanks for doing this review. I carry a tanto SMF most of the time. At this point I have 2 SMF's, 1 SNG, 1 Protech Strider, a PT, and a DUB-L (fixed blade). They generally do have thick blade stock, but their thickness behind the edge is pretty good.

Striders are so cool.
I will have one again, one day. They do drops every so often but theres almost no warning. So when I am at the place to have $500 sitting around waiting, that'll when I can get a new Strider.
FrankieJ dwm_edc peep their ig. They do a good job keeping everyone aware about incoming drops.
@@alexanders1445 I do follow on IG the most advance notice I've seen was like 4-5 days. They always show them building/making them but then they end up being for this show, or that show. But thanks brotha. I'd need a month or so advance to put in some OT and put the loot aside. Every time I try now something else comes up or something shiny catches my eye.

@@alexanders1445 The SnG was my first "knife guy" knife. I will get another someday. Just can't afford secondary prices, and honestly even if I could don't think I'd do it people triple the retail price on these guys.

As someone who has carried slip joints & tactical knives since 1998 - I have come to the conclusion after searching diligently and I know all the sites everyone else does, (I agree with the post below about the 'knife bro"). You definitely have to have someone secretly "in the know" with certain companies or someone on YT looking to unload a beat up Strider with all the problems that they either don't know how to fix or aren't willing to pay to fix. It is reminiscent of the Hinderer knives back in the day. I'd watch doofus heads at work on company letterhead request the lowball discount price and make $1,000 - 1250 off someone that just had to have it and monies was no obstacle, they'd laugh their butts off and I just shook my head. I got close ONE time on an SMF back 03 and like the other fella was sniped at the last second. They work in cahoots many of them do because I would see it at work. Sad IMO.
The SMF/SnG is a superior knife to the XM-18/XM-24 in every aspect.

You sound salty. The emojis give it away. I do use my knives. Plenty of stuff here on TH-cam and Instagram shows that. Explain to me in great detail exactly how the SNG is better in "every aspect". I did a video on this subject where I compared the two extensively. My experience is based on my own SNG and countless xms, many of which were users. Don't worry. I'll wait.
Metal Complex better is subjective, if you like a flipper, an XM-18 is an obvious choice. The SnG is a superior knife to the XM-18 (IMO) for the following reasons:
The SnG has better cutting geometry and a vastly superior heat treat. Even the slicer grind XM-18 is substantially thicker behind the edge than a Fatty SnG.
Strider Knives has better customer service in my experience. I had an older gen XM with no detent that RHK wouldn’t service. They also don’t offer blade replacements like Strider does, important in a higher end piece.
Strider knives has a vastly superior heat treat. I have Striders in 20CV, 204p, S30V, CPM-154, 3V, S35VN, PSF-27, and Z Wear. I use them extensively and they hold their edges like nothing else I’ve used. This is comparing them to CRK, Hinderer, Shirogorov, Spartan, etc.
Metal Complex also, the phosphor bronze washers are ideal for a hard use knife. The new tri way pivot system is hokey and adds complexity where it’s not needed. If I want to marvel at a good flipping knife, I’m going to look towards my Shiro F95 Frag, Servo, Arius, or Norseman. I suspect the Gen 4 XM’s will become highly desirable in the future.
My non flipper XM-18’s and Firetac’s are great knives, but I think the SnG/SMF is superior in design and execution

I owned one....let it go. Wasn't the gem I expected. After a day, went back to my friends at advance cutlery and got an umnumzaan. Way better !
