Reilly reacting to Miles' seamless ability to lock different lies into a larger piece gives off the energy of the end of a thriller movie where the detective is putting together all the clues of a serial killer case
BIG SHOUTOUT Miles and Reilly who’s just so hilarious. It’s been a hectic few weeks for me and happy to say that your Podcast has been a highlight every week. Happy to report I’ve definitely put more people onto your pod, and always quality stuff
thank you!! Both for listening to the show, and for being my street team converting perfectionists out there in the world! Hope your weeks get less hectic, you rock.
but did u put his name on the diploma though?? honorary doctor of dance for mr Bon? (jk , congratulations!! I hope all ur modern/other dance dreams come true! 💃🕺✨)
That first call; that entire call was more hurtful than entertaining. And i hope their "friend" finds better, more accepting and empatheric friends & gets a kick ass roommate next year.
I just came here to say this! It made me sad. 😢 It gave me “mean girl” vibes. Like people are pretending to be the girl’s friend, but they aren’t, not really. Usually on calls like this, the caller will at least throw out, “they’re mean to people, so I don’t like them because of that,” or whatever. This time, though, it was about the girl being a “chronic liar.” And tbh, she doesn’t owe anyone an excuse to begin with, but also, everyone ever has made up some silly excuse to get out of something or because they wanted to do something else. It doesn’t really sound like an environment that invites honesty. Not to mention, a lot of people have anxiety over that kind of stuff, especially in school or college. There’s a much bigger picture than she “gave someone bronchitis” and “lied about digestive issues.” I hope she gets a fantastic roommate, too. 🖤
Okay… I understand empathizing with the so called “friend” as someone who tried so hard to be friends to people who just didn’t care about them. Hell that’s my entire high school experience in a nutshell. But let’s not try to make the caller the bad guy here alright? Taking out all of the extra stuff she said, the main reason caller was annoyed at friend was because she indirectly gave her bronchitis when she could’ve prevented it (not coughing on blankets or staying in her own room). And I’m gonna be honest here, if someone, even if I liked them, gave me bronchitis because they were being careless, I would be pretty pissed off at them for a while. And when I’m slightly pissed at someone, I’m going to think back at all they strange things they did and possibly blow them out of proportion so I have a “valid” reason to dislike them. Is that an inherently good thing to do? No. But is that an inherently human thing to do? Yeah. We shouldn’t give the benefit of the doubt to only one party when both parties deserve it, mainly because we don’t know them. Like everything in life has nuance, let’s not decide who’s the “mean girl” in an overall sucky situation where they both got bronchitis.
Reilly is great! I love her sense or humor and how easily conversation flows for her. One of my favorite guests besides the Wrecking Ball Crew of course.
I thought I was tripping because I have the exact same spindrift right now that I'm drinking as I'm listening to the pod at work. Now I feel like I'm a second guest!
When Reilly mentioned Daisy Jones and The Six, something clicked in my brain and it all made sense... Daisy Edgar Jones always reminded me of someone, and it was Reilly haha
consistently, my favorite thing throughout this show has been miles roleplaying an unfortunate hypothetical with the guest. it never gets any less awkward, but it’s always funny
The call about the collage roommate was such mean girl energy. It was very unexpected to listen to someone straight up be a bully and have Miles go along with it.
Frankly I disagree. Intentionally getting someone sick, is not what friends do. That’s not what you do if you want to be friends with someone. Just straight up. But also the fact that this girl thinks that they’re friends, but the rest of them don’t. It’s no one’s fault. It’s not fair for you to place the blame on the girls who didn’t realize that Ms. contagious thought they were friends. It’s just a mistake and lack of communication or social skills. That’s not Ms. Contagious’s fault per se. But it’s DEFINITELY not the callers fault that she doesn’t wanna be friends. You don’t HAVE to be friends with people you don’t fuck with. Doesn’t matter how nice or selfish or how badly they lack social skills. As the weird kid who’s been in both situations, when ur adults. You just have to accept that ur gonna try and make friends and they may not really enjoy fucking with you like that. You MOVE ON don’t force it hoping that they change their minds. That’s not fair to either party. And I’m this situation they’re still treating her nicely and wondering if she’s ok on the toilet for hours so like. They’re not being rude.
The Miles and Reilly energy is great! Y'all's humor meshes so well, I love it. Thanks for another great episode, Miles, I deeply appreciate how seamlessly you can switch between being a silly, goofy guy and an open, vulnerable softie. The world needs more people like you setting the example that humor and emotion are not mutually exclusive ❤
For the Surprise birthday party they should have everyone come at 5am while he's asleep and jump around his bed like all the hobbits did for frodo, then hire some old wizard to laugh and nod at them all. Flawless.
You should say you "went to PT" because that can stand for personal training or physical therapy. Then you don't have to lie, but you look super cool for regularly going to something that's high brow enough to have an abbreviation.
I know Miles tends to give benefit of the doubt to callers but that first call was hard to listen to. This is not how you talk about or deal with people whose only offense is allegedly giving you bronchitis. Imagine this from the hallmate’s perspective - being accused of lying about where she lives and having digestive issues (which…why would she lie about that? and generally speaking it’s not a good look to accuse people of lying about medical conditions esp when you don’t bother to understand what they are struggling with…) Not to mention being mocked and laughed at and called “weird” on a podcast by someone who she THINKS is a friend. That is super hurtful and definitely gives off “mean girl” energy…
I agree with you on the lying. But intentionally getting someone sick is something that no one can argue with that shits fucked up my guy. I do think this girl has social skill issues. But it’s not like the caller is treating this girl like shit. They’re making sure to check on her when she’s been in the bathroom for hours. It just seems like a situation where digestive girl tried to force herself into a group instead of trying to become friends naturally. Some people are capable of picking up on that energy. And others aren’t too good at that like the caller. I’m sure if digestive girl approached the friendship in a different way rather than just, all of a sudden being there, and acting like they already knew each other, and were friends, a more genuine, better friendship would’ve occurred. The caller sounds like someone that doesn’t handle random too well. As a random weird person myself you just won’t always vibe with certain people even if you do go about it in a better way. And I think digestive girl would’ve realized that if she did approach it more naturally.
@@um2913 Yeah no, hard disagree there. “Digestive Girl” could have been more considerate/responsible when she was sick, but I have a hard time believing her intention was to get other people sick INTENTIONALLY. That would be just straight up sociopathic. And she may have trouble picking up social cues like you say, but that’s literally not an excuse to be mocked and called weird. That’s bully behavior. The point is the caller could have and SHOULD have just communicated these concerns to her in a respectful and direct way. Instead caller is showing her own immaturity and lack of communication skills by choosing to call into a podcast and mock her for validation.
had a lot of anxiety lately and this has helped me start the day on a brighter, lighter, and closer to perfect note :) I really appreciate the humor and actually good advice, the vibesss lol also love yalls comedic chemistry!
the funny thing about reilly saying “what if this is the best episode ever” is that this is probably the episode of this show i’ve relistened to the most
unironically though miles faking sirens going by to break up an awkward confrontation is perfect person advice. almost as good as responding to professional inquiries about gaps in your resume with "i signed an nda"
Honestly the entire lying roommate thing sounds more like people who don't understand what this person is dealing with than a person whose lying as someone whose literally gone to college about sociology, psychology, and dealt with undiagnosed illnesses throughout my life: this is just what it looks like from an outside perspective. She's not lying y'all just don't bother learning about the problems she has and then blame her for your lack of understanding 🤷
+ & high key was feeling very like, "I'm gonna low-key bully this 'friend' I have who is a little weird for a chance at being on a podcast I like" Like probably will her their roommate next year, are they friends "I guess we are", and "the digestive issues are an arc" and "shes a chronic liar" it just all screams of a situation where I really ended up not enjoying thr call because I think thr ultimate solution is, stop stringing this friendship along. More often than not, people don’t respond well to honesty, particularly when you’re that age. I suspect she was probably going to get a hard time either way. Anyway, I doubt she just chronically lies about that, Idk. But you’re right about it all. I’ve been in the same boat. I also experience bullying from people like this, so the whole thing just made me sad!

The advice for uninviting the wedding guests was genius, Miles. I don’t know how it’s possible, but I think you’re becoming more perfect.

Another good excuse to univite someone form a wedding is to say you just found out the fire code capacity.
Miles 🫀
“I’ve been telling him my name is Dave” 💀💀💀 my dad’s name is Dave and now I’m suspicious that his name is actually Miles.
Just confronted my dad after this podcast. Turns out his name is not Dave but Miles, he's not a surgeon but a coal miner, the house belongs to the neighbor and I am adopted.
This pod is truly changing lives.
first caller kinda sounds like a high school bully ngl
Miles is getting too powerful
I am with Reilly. I do not want to be gaslit by Miles because his brain is insane.
"Welcome to Yale".....
Physical therapy= personal training
of course
I was actually relieved when Miles said it was a personal trainer helping him get strong instead of a physical therapist helping him!
@@PerfectPerson and THAT is on Anspaugh.
Love the show. So much fun! One note: the audio of the caller sounds very shrill. Perhaps something to fix? Otherwise: all perfect.
Reilly reminds me of Sarah the way she acts and talks sometimes lol I feel like they could be related
i feel like the outlet behind the guest needs a job
