Yes I know he has done these videos, but it’s been a few years since he has done it, so it would be very useful to make, although a VM that could mask your VM to be close to a PM would be a plus as well given that some games as mentioned won’t let you run a game in a VM
He has made something similar to it but relies on hyper-v and iommu from memory for it to be enabled. I think that hyper-v is exclusive to windows 10 and 11 pro, and VMware is one of the only virtual machine managers that allows gpu passthrough. VIrtualbox completely disables any form of gpu passthrough as I tried to enable it on my vm one time.

They could run any anti cheat on server, but they choose the most insecure for their user instead. When Safety became intrusive and problematic, it's no longer Safety.

@@Shocker99 Correct, although there's no stopping them from having the clients report back suspicious activity about OTHER players. 99% of players use unmodified clients. If there's 20 people in a session, and 18 of them are using stock, unmodified clients, then there's a pretty solid base of users to be accepting reports of suspicious activity. If 18 clients all detect invalid object spawns, cash being given to them that doesn't meet game rules, or players teleporting in ways that they shouldn't, then 18 clients all send a report to the r* servers, and now r* has some stats showing possible cheats. Basically it would be like VAC, but with the detection spread across dozens of clients instead of public servers.
This could be a test of the anticheat system that they're putting in GTA6. Honestly if I could play GTA5 online without hackers I'd reinstall the game. I couldn't go a single hour without a hacker griefing me in some way.

I bypassed Rockstar Games Nu anti-cheat by uninstalling the game. Making game grindy with an emphasis on microtransactions - Fine. Nerfed Cayo Perico on anniversary - Fine. Removed 180+ vehicles - mucho crappy, but fine. Strong-arming players to download and install kernel-level AC - Alright Rockstar, that'll be enough.
In my opinion, the less people playing GTA online the better. Rockstar used to put out great GTA single player experiences regularly. It's been 11 years since GTA V came out, and we never even got any single player DLC for it! Ever since GTA online has been filling their pockets with cash from Shark Cards, rockstar has completely lost any motivation to make anything new related to GTA other than shitty updates to online and the shitty remake trilogy. It's an absolute miracle that GTA VI is even coming out next year, and that's probably more because they want to make a GTA online 2 and make people start over again from 0 than to actually deliver a new quality game to the franchise. With the way the modern AAA gaming industry is going, I wouldn't be surprised if GTA VI is considered a flop, and rockstar decides to move on to online GTA experiences exclusively or something.

I want to point out something incredibly funny that was found out about this, and that was (unsure if it's patched, but it probably is because it's so fucking stupid) you were able to bypass battleye and get into online simply by adding the --nobattleye flag to the steam launch settings, y'know, the flag to disable the anticheat for singleplayer??? If you thought it was useless because of VM bypasses, then imagine the surprise when it was found out the literal internal switch to toggle it off on your end works for getting into online. Absolutely amazing lmao.
From what I got, they used this flag to disable the AC, get the game to start and then inject code to emulate the AC. So they basically changed the game code to fake the AC while having the flag to disable it.
@@tablettablete186 eh, this is somewhat true. you can actually view the exact PR that added the bypass as the menu is open source. fundamentally it is a very simple bypass, you can think of the game having a function like "is_battleye_enabled()", which is checked when you try to go online, the menu simply hooks this function and forces it to return true, and it is able to do this BECAUSE you can open the game with the --nobattleye flag, yet the code for online is still entirely there, it's just locked behind one simple check, which can be bypassed. there's more to it in the sense that you will get kicked by a host who is using battleye if you aren't using battleye (due to the games basically contacting the battleye servers to see if those people are actually using the anticheat). mod menus are able to mitigate this by "forcing host"/spoofing the host token. additionally, rockstar fucked up the implementation of this and now mod menus can remotely kick players (even if they're in other sessions i believe) via their rockstar id by sending one of these "battleye kicks".

Microsoft is working towards locking down ring 0 and bellow so that access is only granted for specific hardware and needs. This will 100% disrupt anti-cheat as most companies will not be justified to be on that list unless they get heavily scrutinized. This is mainly to prevent the whole crowdstrike event from happening again.

I don't watch VTubers, but I keep catching wind of a situation one named Ironmouse is experiencing. It seems her VODS and main channel got terminated due to false copyright strikes by a targeted party - along with receiving death threats - and TH-cam, of course, is doing nothing. Considering it seems like Ironmouse hasn't done anything wrong, it is terrifying how huge channels like this can be blipped out of existence, entire livelihoods jeopardized just because of people's malicious intent, dishonesty, and the absolutely BROKEN copyright system of TH-cam. I was hoping maybe you'd cover it, because this has scary implications for everyone else, and cannot go unaddressed, or it sets a dangerous precedent for neither big nor small channels to be properly protected. No other big TH-camr has covered it yet, but it seems extrenely important as a situation over all. Thank you

Whether she's based mainly in Twitch or not, it still happened, meaning it can happen to anyone. i personally have a very good setup for my virtual machine with hiding myself from anticheats but i originally followed one of your old videos (loosely) in order to get into it in the first place. this is something that isnt widely documented so i think a video on that would be great for those who need it.
I love how I load into GTA5 2-3 days after their new Anticheat was implemented, and upon spawning in, there's NO npcs, cars, or anything I can interact with on the map, I get ran over by a rainbow animated rocket car that has absolutely no lift and pinpoint steering even tho its going about 400mph, I get teleported with literally everyone else in the lobby to the air field, get blown up by a gatling firework launcher, put into a 5 star police chase, had my LITERAL IRL ADDRESS SAID INTO THE CHAT (I use a vpn so like bruh), and then put into an infinite loading glitch being invited to my own apartment that I don't own. Amazing anticheat rockstar 11/10
You know what would be cool? Is being able to use and play with the GTA online shit you have purchased in the singleplayer version of the game without a cheat menu to spawn it in. Edit: you know what would be even cooler? Being able to bring a friend in to play as one of the main cast you’re not currently playing as in the base game while also having access to the cool shit you have purchased in Online. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to play all of the Online content such as heists and ceo missions with a friend or two in the base game. I have wished for a long time to just be able to have my homies join up as Franklin and Trevor while I play Michael and we do all the Online heists together.
Sounds like an awful idea, the stock market in story mode can make you insanely rich so every level one would start off with damn near everything in the game except the online only stuff. And the second idea sounds good in theory but would probably take ages to get working right without bugs. Id rather them use that effort on GTA 6 instead
Man I’m not a teenager anymore. I’m a working professional now. I can’t keep messing around VMs and kernel patches all night just to play an hour long round with the friends I no longer have. I play a sum total of 6 games, they work fine. I don’t care beyond that.
Being banned is a fucking badge of honor for me. I used to respect Anti-Cheat modules! Now though they are just a blatant excuse to fight against the Linux community.
I've been seeing a lot of people saying that BattlEye is garbage because it was supposedly circumvented in a couple of hours and cheaters are not getting banned. However, one thing that many people fail to take into consideration is that the strategy adopted by Rockstar might be to ban cheaters in ban waves, like many other games do. There is an online MMO that I play that uses BattlEye in that way with relative success. They basically gather information about cheaters through the anti-cheat and player reports, and ban several hundreds of accounts every couple months. In the mean time, you will only see banned people who cheat in very obvious ways, like using well known, outdated bots. Another thing that people shouldn't ignore is the chilling effect that the introduction of an anti-cheat software causes. Many people will stop using mod menus --- at least for a while --- simply because they can't know if BattlEye is being able to identify that they are cheating.
Valve shouldn't allow games with Linux compatible anti-cheat be on steam if Linux compatibility isn't turned on, and the people who make Linux compatible anti-cheat systems should make Linux compatibility on by default, and not include any way of turning it off.
You mention that if people do this they might get banned... as if that's a bad thing? If they don't do this... they're banned anyway. They have very little to lose.
I recall the time when Johanna released the "Red pill" - a VM check. I took it apart and found it just checked the low byte of the descriptor table to see if it was null. If it wasn't then you was in VM land. Works today apparently on most VMs. If that's all they do, them of course it's and easy bypass.
Great video! Would love to see and full gaming VM setup video running on Linux. I have setup a gaming VM's using hyper-v and I've got that running all okay with anti cheat, however I want to ditch windows as my hypervisor platform. With how invasive these anti cheats are it's nice to run these types of games in contained environments. I've noticed around a 15% performance hit compared to if I were running naively which for alot of games is not noticeable, especially for gta as I only have a 4k 144hz monitor so I can easily get more than enough performance through my VM's. The other issue I need to look into VVR solutions such as gsync working within these VM's as I've not got it setup and screen tearing in certaint games are noticeable in my VM's. That will be another fun project to look into and get running!
If you don't want to spend the time yourself, its about $11 to buy a cheat engine for any game. My friends in destiny 2 PvP continuously argue you can't cheat while we're getting 0.00000001 second headshot killed everytime we breath cus it's now cross play.. You literally can't play PvP anymore cus 5/10 people are blatantly cheating. Its disgusting. Don't get me started on games like tarkov...
The funny thing to me is how few people realize that GTA6 is just a GTA5 meta parody, if it ever releases it will have some big opening cut scene that you already saw in the trailer and then be like 2 levels of E.T. for Atari2600. Followed by an end cutscene of Michael sitting on the couch throwing his game controller at the TV yelling "what a ripoff".

I want to point out something incredibly funny that was found out about this, and that was (unsure if it's patched, but it probably is because it's so fucking stupid) you were able to bypass battleye and get into online simply by adding the --nobattleye flag to the steam launch settings, y'know, the flag to disable the anticheat for singleplayer??? If you thought it was useless because of VM bypasses, then imagine the surprise when it was found out the literal internal switch to toggle it off on your end works for getting into online. Absolutely amazing lmao.
From what I got, they used this flag to disable the AC, get the game to start and then inject code to emulate the AC.
So they basically changed the game code to fake the AC while having the flag to disable it.
@@tablettablete186 eh, this is somewhat true. you can actually view the exact PR that added the bypass as the menu is open source. fundamentally it is a very simple bypass, you can think of the game having a function like "is_battleye_enabled()", which is checked when you try to go online, the menu simply hooks this function and forces it to return true, and it is able to do this BECAUSE you can open the game with the --nobattleye flag, yet the code for online is still entirely there, it's just locked behind one simple check, which can be bypassed.
there's more to it in the sense that you will get kicked by a host who is using battleye if you aren't using battleye (due to the games basically contacting the battleye servers to see if those people are actually using the anticheat). mod menus are able to mitigate this by "forcing host"/spoofing the host token. additionally, rockstar fucked up the implementation of this and now mod menus can remotely kick players (even if they're in other sessions i believe) via their rockstar id by sending one of these "battleye kicks".

Microsoft is working towards locking down ring 0 and bellow so that access is only granted for specific hardware and needs. This will 100% disrupt anti-cheat as most companies will not be justified to be on that list unless they get heavily scrutinized. This is mainly to prevent the whole crowdstrike event from happening again.
If they do, it'll be the first good thing Microsoft did since shutting down windows xp.

I don't watch VTubers, but I keep catching wind of a situation one named Ironmouse is experiencing. It seems her VODS and main channel got terminated due to false copyright strikes by a targeted party - along with receiving death threats - and TH-cam, of course, is doing nothing. Considering it seems like Ironmouse hasn't done anything wrong, it is terrifying how huge channels like this can be blipped out of existence, entire livelihoods jeopardized just because of people's malicious intent, dishonesty, and the absolutely BROKEN copyright system of TH-cam. I was hoping maybe you'd cover it, because this has scary implications for everyone else, and cannot go unaddressed, or it sets a dangerous precedent for neither big nor small channels to be properly protected. No other big TH-camr has covered it yet, but it seems extrenely important as a situation over all. Thank you

i personally have a very good setup for my virtual machine with hiding myself from anticheats
but i originally followed one of your old videos (loosely) in order to get into it in the first place.
this is something that isnt widely documented so i think a video on that would be great for those who need it.
I love how I load into GTA5 2-3 days after their new Anticheat was implemented, and upon spawning in, there's NO npcs, cars, or anything I can interact with on the map, I get ran over by a rainbow animated rocket car that has absolutely no lift and pinpoint steering even tho its going about 400mph, I get teleported with literally everyone else in the lobby to the air field, get blown up by a gatling firework launcher, put into a 5 star police chase, had my LITERAL IRL ADDRESS SAID INTO THE CHAT (I use a vpn so like bruh), and then put into an infinite loading glitch being invited to my own apartment that I don't own.

You know what would be cool? Is being able to use and play with the GTA online shit you have purchased in the singleplayer version of the game without a cheat menu to spawn it in. Edit: you know what would be even cooler? Being able to bring a friend in to play as one of the main cast you’re not currently playing as in the base game while also having access to the cool shit you have purchased in Online. There is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to play all of the Online content such as heists and ceo missions with a friend or two in the base game. I have wished for a long time to just be able to have my homies join up as Franklin and Trevor while I play Michael and we do all the Online heists together.
Sounds like an awful idea, the stock market in story mode can make you insanely rich so every level one would start off with damn near everything in the game except the online only stuff. And the second idea sounds good in theory but would probably take ages to get working right without bugs. Id rather them use that effort on GTA 6 instead
Single player was always a minimum viable effort from Rockstar loaded with unfinished or not-enabled content so they could do online transactions.

Being banned is a fucking badge of honor for me. I used to respect Anti-Cheat modules! Now though they are just a blatant excuse to fight against the Linux community.
I've been seeing a lot of people saying that BattlEye is garbage because it was supposedly circumvented in a couple of hours and cheaters are not getting banned. However, one thing that many people fail to take into consideration is that the strategy adopted by Rockstar might be to ban cheaters in ban waves, like many other games do. There is an online MMO that I play that uses BattlEye in that way with relative success. They basically gather information about cheaters through the anti-cheat and player reports, and ban several hundreds of accounts every couple months. In the mean time, you will only see banned people who cheat in very obvious ways, like using well known, outdated bots.
Another thing that people shouldn't ignore is the chilling effect that the introduction of an anti-cheat software causes. Many people will stop using mod menus --- at least for a while --- simply because they can't know if BattlEye is being able to identify that they are cheating.

Valve shouldn't allow games with Linux compatible anti-cheat be on steam if Linux compatibility isn't turned on, and the people who make Linux compatible anti-cheat systems should make Linux compatibility on by default, and not include any way of turning it off.

Doing this type of tactic can seriously risk your online player account being reset or even terminated.
I recall the time when Johanna released the "Red pill" - a VM check. I took it apart and found it just checked the low byte of the descriptor table to see if it was null. If it wasn't then you was in VM land. Works today apparently on most VMs. If that's all they do, them of course it's and easy bypass.
This is why you should never play GTA if you are only there for the online aspect. Every lobby is always filled with at least 1 hacker.

Great video! Would love to see and full gaming VM setup video running on Linux. I have setup a gaming VM's using hyper-v and I've got that running all okay with anti cheat, however I want to ditch windows as my hypervisor platform. With how invasive these anti cheats are it's nice to run these types of games in contained environments.
I've noticed around a 15% performance hit compared to if I were running naively which for alot of games is not noticeable, especially for gta as I only have a 4k 144hz monitor so I can easily get more than enough performance through my VM's.
The other issue I need to look into VVR solutions such as gsync working within these VM's as I've not got it setup and screen tearing in certaint games are noticeable in my VM's. That will be another fun project to look into and get running!
If you don't want to spend the time yourself, its about $11 to buy a cheat engine for any game.
My friends in destiny 2 PvP continuously argue you can't cheat while we're getting 0.00000001 second headshot killed everytime we breath cus it's now cross play.. You literally can't play PvP anymore cus 5/10 people are blatantly cheating. Its disgusting.

I've fully switched to SPTarkov for that reason, and on top of that can customize it fully to how I want to play.
The funny thing to me is how few people realize that GTA6 is just a GTA5 meta parody, if it ever releases it will have some big opening cut scene that you already saw in the trailer and then be like 2 levels of E.T. for Atari2600. Followed by an end cutscene of Michael sitting on the couch throwing his game controller at the TV yelling "what a ripoff".
