I love how he defames and slanders 10+ youtubers with 1mil+ subs each and acts surprised they can't control them and is puzzled why there's backlash. like just casually uses them as examples for why wendigoon is bad for being friends with them and says they're extreme far right racist nazis. as if the audience didn't know who the ak-guy or donut operator is.
I think he might actually be mentally ill, it just manifests in a way that isn't particularly obvious at first. The whole paranoia over wendigoon following him was the mask slipping completely.
I find the most ironic thing about In Praise Of Shadows is that he speaks negatively about "privileged white people" yet sounds like the most privileged white guy ever to exist.
He called wendigoon out for being a privileged white guy despite being part native and growing up in Appalachia one of the poorest regions of the nation
From what people have written here in the comments, IPOS lives in Asheville which is pretty much super gentrified self righteous yuppie heaven. Cheapest rent there is like 2 grand a month and the city is pretty much all trust fund kids going to app state on mommy and daddies dime.
I always have a laugh when anyone from a first world country points at anybody else and says they're privileged. You don't know what privilege truly is if you haven't seen where people extract cobalt for your precious electric vehicle batteries, or any other third world dark reality, for that matter.
I think it's important to distinguish. IPoS didn't just make a comment about the Appalachia being full of racists. He said "I have to assume Wendigoon is white and racist, because he is from the Appalachia." Literal, explicit, unironic bigotry from a TH-camr who says he is trying to stop a hate movement from encroaching on horror.
All that while speaking over ACTUAL Native Americans and gatekeeping their culture. He’s a white knight - a bigot. I’m pretty sure he claimed (if I understood him correctly) that he doesn’t view people as Indigenous, either, if they don’t live on a reservation. I DO know I wasn’t the only one who interpreted it that way though and it (understandably!) offended many Natives.
and Appalachia is still one of the poorest, underserved, and most exploited areas of the country, near to or barely doing better than some reservations, areas of the Deep South, and disparaged inner cities. it also faces similar gentrification issues and discrimination against the people as many predominantly native and black areas do.
@@samm4158 So true. I live in southern georgia but I'm very far left relative to most of the population. It's heinous how desperate people are in a lot of these smaller towns, especially the elderly. Right wing voters too, but their politicians don't vote to give them social welfare that they badly need.
I love that the video is supposedly about conservative horror movies, a concept that might be of interest to me, and yet waffles around for literally three hours about other youtubers, how much he hates people with different beliefs, his minor inconveniences going to a horror convention, him whining about people not liking a bad video he made, and his own struggles with having a failing channel. Truly exceptional.
This is exactly how I felt, I skipped around and the only “conservative” films he talks about is one that used Ai for some art and caused controversy and then a Ben Shapiro movie. The rest was just rage bait about TH-camrs
A better summary of the guy's video than the AI could ever do. I kept thinking he was getting to a point he never got to while he bitched about people he argued with on Twitter.
Appalachian here, you can always tell someone has never set foot in Appalachia based on what they say about it. Are there racists there? Sure, but there are racists in Californialand too. It's almost like there are racists everywhere.
The forbidden arts of "follow" have been lost to mere mortals for centuries. Such is the terrifying power of the follow button. To even mention it out loud is a capital offense 😂
The guy basically says that because Wendigoon is from Appalachia, He’s a racist. Ironic, Since this guy is from North Carolina. And if we used his logic, We would know that North Carolina has a deep history of racism. Just like every other state in The U.S. And basically everywhere else in the world, FOR THAT MATTER!!!!!
You don't understand, if he calls other people racist, that means he can't be racist. At least that's what it seems like he's trying to do. Honestly, I can't stand people pointing out racism where there isn't any because I swear, those people making those claims are the ones who are actually racist for focusing so much on people's skin color.
As someone who lives in the Foothills of NC, I can confirm there's still PLENTY of ACTUAL White-Supremacist here, but they're not very loud and the ones that are get laughed at.
"I've paid my rent late cause I can't make enough money" bro welcome to half the country. No imagine doing it while working 40hrs a week and sitting in your house watching movies.
"Cajun, descendant of Roman Catholic French Canadians whom the British, in the 18th century, drove from the captured French colony of Acadia" I'm so confused how they could think this is Black Louisiana Residents
Took a week stay in New Orleans. People of all races live in that city and it’s surrounding areas. It’s a beautiful place for anyone of any orientation.
His "woe is me" shtick about him struggling to stay afloat trying to earn a living only off TH-cam is all I need to hear about that guy. Nobody's entitled to make enough off TH-cam to be able to live off of it. If you can't be one of the lucky ones, then you can either live in poverty or get a traditional job like most people in the world have to.
Also worth noting he was consistently getting sponsorship opportunities that he would always turn down. If push came to shove, he always had that option
I think he's upset because he was making enough money to live off of youtube, and then he lost it. Maybe he could have bounced back. Maybe he could have taken more sponsorships. Maybe he could have leaned into the misunderstanding that happened with his The Hills have Eyes video. And garnered a following, either through people who liked an overtly leftist reviewer. Or through conservative viewers hate watching his channel. But he wasn't able to bounce back, so he's angry because he feels that something was taken from him. That's why he's so angry. Maybe he should pick up a part time job. That's the logical thing to do. But I doubt that this video had any logical impetus. I just think he was angry at the idea that something was taken from him. And he wanted to vent.
Cries about not having enough money to pay rent on time, but does have enough money to spend to go to a convention (I don't know how much but I know they tend to be rather pricey) he knew he wasn't going to like. Lol
I love how homie decries Wendigoon for talking about conspiracies, yet weaves some JFK level type shit about how Wendigoon followed him on Twitter to psychologically torture him.

One of his points for wendigoon being racist was that he wears Hawaiian shirts he says this while wearing a Hawaiian shirt I think he might be trying to tell us something
@JTMRS95 That might be my issue - I entertained that there would be a lesson in such situations, but in reality - no, it is malicious intent of one individual, who tries to make other people feel guilt - I've heard that wendi guy apologised?? What a nice person, but now everyone can suspect he is not 100% truthful about his statements, as Muta used a logical argument to debunk it and acted respectfully in that. I fell into this guy's trap a few months ago with his Courage the Cowardly Dog video. I thought I was going to put a fun retrospective on in the bg while I worked. Bro started comparing everything to r*pe and sexuality, and just had infinite super reachy takes on every little thing. Seeing him overthink getting followed on twitter tracks pretty well. It blows my mind that people like him can't see how racist they are by telling people how they can and can't use their own cultures, how they need to whitewash everyone to make themselves correct in every situation, how they are obsessed with mapping out everyone's genetics to dictate what they can/can't do, and how they HATE people sharing their cultures with each other and being interested in cultures that are not their own. THEY'RE the ones who want all this racial purity. Everyone else just wants to live.
@@daniel5730Well he's 1/3 there. Lovecraft's racism was VERY obvious. Just look at his cat. Everything else is a reach. Seriously, trans? With his level of hatred/fear of anything different he wouldn't have made it passed 20.
@@theatagamer90 The cat apparently wasn't actually his but a family pet that already had the name when they got it. Funny thing is that there is actually a lot of really weird nuance to Lovecraft's racism compared to the stereotypical run-of-the-mill racist. He never viewed other races as inferior yet paradoxically threatening but, as conveyed in his writing, thought of them as an encroaching unknowable and unstoppable force, very likely a product of his abusive upbringing. And later on in his life, thanks in part to the relationships he formed with his pen pals, he would go on to reevaluate his earlier biases and admit that he was taking things too far. He might have even become close to a fully functional member of society if he didn't painfully die of stomach cancer.
I went in looking to watch a video on Conservative horror flicks… received three hours of him complaining about random TH-camrs he has schizophrenic level grievances with
What are conservative horror movies though? Is it just movies made by conservatives? If so who cares why does it matter? Is it because they suck? there’s plenty of movies that are made by the left and suck so why make a video about a specific group? I just don’t get it
I did enjoy the totally same, 45 minute explanation of how "Hawaiian shirt = terrorist", coming FROM THE MAN IN THE HAWAIIAN SHIRT. Super-educational. Hiis whole critique of Wendygoon came down to (1) He's white. (2) Hawaiian shirt. And (3) bizarre, seven degrees of separation Pepe Silvio-ing, about the Twitter likes, of the Twitter likes, of the Twitter likes, of the Twitter likes, of someone Wendy follows. I can't believe he re-watched that stuff, however many times it takes to edit a 3 hour video, and then said "Yep, this is solid, totally reasonable stuff!!! That Hawaiian shirt thing will DEFINITELY get him cancelled!!!"

I am a Georgia boy with roots all throughout Appalachia. True Hill Billies are typically not racist at all. This is a hard one for a lot of people to visualize, but many of them are descendant from slaves, themselves. There were Irish slaves and indentured servants in the United States. Not only that, the coal mining industry can definitely be considered a legalized form of slavery. Most everyone in Appalachia not born from wealth had very tough lives and have had to work hard. There is usually a ton of sympathy towards minorities, but in particular Black people. That said, there is a lot of "new racists" in Apalachicola, more wealthy and racist white people who have moved up into the mountains to get away from all the people that are different from them. They're transplants and not true natives. Cabin Fever pokes fun at this misconception pretty well with the gas station scene at the beginning and end.
Even thinking about it for ten seconds doesn’t make any sense. Appalachians typically are gonna be some of the hardest workers in America with the toughest jobs. They work alongside all types of people. Like you said, in this day and age the blue collar hard workers aren’t the racist people, they’re too humble to fall into the trap of racism, it’s the rich people who have never had to spend time with another race or class who are the racists today
I grew up in North Carolina (Air Force kid) and didn’t fit in there, but the levels of racism were/are probably worse here in California. People use the “Southern strategy” myth to try to explain why Democrats supported segregation the most, and Republicans voted against it the most back in the 60s. They try to claim that “the parties switched places” during Nixon, which is absurd in its face, when in reality Republicans didn’t win the South until Reagan’s second term in the mid-80s. By which time most of the mainstream South had rejected racism.
Im a half black man from West virginia. My main hobbies are paddleboard fishing and hunting. Very often im in the Middle of NOWHERE with nothing but my paddle board and some fishing rods, and i have never exerienced a racist “redneck”. Theyre almost always very nice. Most of the time theyre just curious because they haven’t seen a paddle board before. I have experienced way more racism going to cities than i have ever experienced by country people. Hating on people from Appalachia is just pure classism. Theyre wonderful people.
Calling the mines basically slavery is a massive understatement. The whole concept of "company towns" and the exploitation of families in the coal mining areas of Appalachia was straight up slavery that was ignored long after the prohibition of slavery in the US. It wasn't until there was an armed rebellion (the second largest in US history, following the civil war) that attention and change came to the labor system in the region.

His way logic is called "cocoklogi" in Indonesia, or translated to "match-ology". It's connecting one dot to anothers to match in the most absurd way. It really upsets me, people are constantly saying Appalachia is super racist. I'm from and grew up in South East KY deep in some mountains. Met my wife there. We moved to a large city in a different state for my job. We have experienced vastly more racist comments here over being a mixed race family. My wife hates going to the grocery store here because she always has off comments made about our kids from random people. It's gotten so bad my oldest daughter(she is 6) asked if there was something wrong with her younger sister because of her skin. When explaining to her there is nothing wrong with anyone because of their skin color, she asked why do people say things that makes her mom wanna leave the store. But yeah white people from the mountains are the racist ones.
I to moved from a town to a city and can confirm city dwellers are in fact not more enlightened than small town people. Though on the hole, most people I have known in both places have been friendly.
I work with this white guy who, years ago, was in a relationship with a black girl. They lived in the city and would get harassed for being a mixed race couple. I despise the mindset of "this political party is evil" because that is greatly simplifying a complicated issue and generalizes lots of people, creating hostility and further dividing the communities.
And it snowballs into paranoia by trait association, that they will accuse people of being part of a evil group/group they hate, base on their looks, interests, the way they speak, etc, even if those traits in spirit shouldn't be related to any party/faction/group at all.
Keep in mind, In Praise Of Shadows said that Alan Wake was not good, because it was relied too heavily on it's source material, a.k.a Stephen King and Twin Peaks, and it was rushed after Microsoft wanted to make it playable on Xbox 360 instead of PC. My brother in Christ, relying on the source material is the whole point, since it's a tribute, and the fact that the game came out in a playable state in six months, and was praised by critics and audiences alike, says something about the quality. I hate the fallback onto gatekeeping horror. Horror is and has always been about holding a mirror to society, making people uncomfortable, and making them question themselves. Horror is not about being comfortable. "Horror is not SAFE" - Rob Zombie I Spit on Your Grave was a feminist flick. It wasnt trying to make you comfortable. It wasnt trying to glorify the men. It was trying to make you question the way you view women by showing the horror of actual mysoginy. Its supossed to make you feel like a pig and its effective. It was trying to make you hate woman abuse and see it in all the HORROR. Its the Schilnders List of Feminism. But people just see a woman suffering and call it trash. Homeboy has clearly never read Men Women and Chainsaws. He has no buisness telling anybody Left or Right what to fuckin do.
Agreed. There’s a lot of really great feminist scholarship in horror. Final Girls as a concept come from feminist film theorist Carol Clover, the idea of the lone surviving woman who starts the film as weak and helpless against the (typically male) villain and in the end overcomes her fears and turns the table on her male attacker.
Being trans, the ‘debate’ that the thumbnail is transphobic is almost as stupid as calling all Appalachian people racists (they arent, because that somehow needs to be said). Being greasy isnt transphobic, getting drawn isnt transphobic, so i dont got a single clue how ppl have got the iota that muta is transphobic from that video. Apparently this is a hot take but ITS NOT TRANSPHOBIC TO CRITICIZE A TRANS PERSON FOR BEING A BAD PERSON.
There’s a subset of intersectional twitter trans furries that fall into a weird form of psychotic wagon circling the moment kiwifarms finds something incriminating on any of them. They’ll defend said person no matter how blatantly awful that person is acting, denying all evidence and being faked. Happened with keffals, happened with Sappho, happened with tenacious unicorn ranch. It’s very bizarre
Yeah the entire argument only makes sense if you assume by default trans people are "ugly" as that's the only thing you can draw from that picture, so again, everyone claiming that imagine is transphobic is just saying "you made it ugly to reflect trans people" which says more about them honestly.
As a trans man, I weep at that entire “argument” being made. Yet another case of cis people speaking for trans people about an “issue” that doesn’t even concern us in order to appear woke and progressive. I have no problem with cis folks calling out real transphobia obviously, but some folks are reaching so far into their asses for those claims I’m surprised they didn’t end up pulling a little bit of sh!t out with it.

From what people have written here in the comments, IPOS lives in Asheville which is pretty much super gentrified self righteous yuppie heaven. Cheapest rent there is like 2 grand a month and the city is pretty much all trust fund kids going to app state on mommy and daddies dime.

I think it's important to distinguish. IPoS didn't just make a comment about the Appalachia being full of racists. Literal, explicit, unironic bigotry from a TH-camr who says he is trying to stop a hate movement from encroaching on horror.

Apparently this is a hot take but ITS NOT TRANSPHOBIC TO CRITICIZE A TRANS PERSON FOR BEING A BAD PERSON.
Im also trans and i agree with ya :)
Best part of the video: when Muta absolutely lost it laughing at the Google Chrome ad 🤣🤣
