This video shows a side by side comparison of plucking a chicken by hand and running one through the YardBird Chicken Plucker. It also gives you a good idea of what Syd does while Mike is working most of the time!
what is the best way to pluck a chicken? how long does it take to pluck a chicken? should i raise chickens for meat? what is the best animal to raise for meat? can i raise enough meat to feed my family? what is the best kind of chicken to raise for meat?

First time I've seen a mechanical chicken plucker. It definitely did a ton better than the hand job, lol. YOU KIDS ARE GREAT!!! Loved the humor which definitely adds to making a better marriage. Thirty years with my bride until she went to Heaven at 49 years of age, reminds me to tell you two to laugh often, love like there's no tomorrow, never ever go to sleep mad, pray together often, and keep the Big Guy first. May the Lord Continue To Bless You and Your Family!!!

We never had the extra money for a machine (maybe didn't even make 'em back then?) so we did 'em all by hand. I sure don't miss it, but good to know how. we made our own.trim down a blue plastic barrel, get a used motor, a shaft, a belt, a few bearings, etc. you can buy rubber chicken plucker fingers. put it all in a wooden frame. easily less than 100 $.

I DID set out to watch a video about the chicken plucking machine but found you also had plenty of distractions in the video to divert my attention.
I can certainly see the value of this machine if you needed to process a lot of birds on a regular basis.
I dont like how much water comes out round the bottom and so close to the electricals.
They should have designed a better drain system on it to a 2" pipe that sat closer to the ground.
Awesome job with the hand plucking though. 6 mins is still a good time. Unfortunately your wife wins this round hands down and probably would still be the winner if she hadnt plucked a chook at all. 😎
You have some great videos. Would love to see some videos from you on old farm machinery like tractors or stationary engines if you have any sittin around.

Yepper, I'm a red blooded all American male...a couple of times I forgot this was about seeing how well the chicken plucker worked. LOL. Thanks for sharing the link. They do work great. Problem is, can't find one anyplace here in Tennessee that has one. The actual website for the Yardbird Chicken Plucker company still sells them, apparently, but for like $100 more than TSC, etc. Probably won't be long though. I'll just kill a few for dinner the next couple of days while I wait. Y'all be safe. BTW, I subbed and I always hit the bell when I watch someone's video.

Did you try tsc online store ? You might still be able to buy it there and ship it to your closest store then shipping is free . That’s how we bought ours 🤷🏼‍♀️. Good luck and thank you 😊

@@3MISSISSIPPI Yeah, I tried them and a few other places, even online. TSC shows it on their main corporate site, but when try to put it in a shopping cart, says it is unavailable. Argh, should have bought one years ago. Thanks for the suggestion though.

@@3MISSISSIPPI If they don't have it available on the main corporate site, I doubt they would be able to get it. But, I won't know unless I ask, right? Thanks for the suggestion. Y'all be safe.

There is a gentlemen who came up with the chicken plucker, he called his the wizbang chicken plucker. He sells a lille instruction book the bottom plate made and ready to go to attach to pulleys, the fingers and some other parts and you basically use like the blue 40 gallon plastic barrels. I think their 40 might be 50 and basically build the thing yorself especially if you have like an old washing machine motor so your spending on that and anyway build it yourself for about 400 or so saving you money and they last a very good long while! Im wanting to say he has been using his for at least ten years. Just search, using any search engine yahoo, google or whichever for whiz bang chicken pLucker. He has other good little ideas/inventions on there as well

really good guys, love to get hold of one of those chicken pluckers. We are in Thailand and knock over 100 birds at a time, locals love me ha ha. It becomes a full five person full day. Have they got a web site, will check out shipping cost. I,m an Aussie, spent 2 years in the states down your way, great people. All the best guys, maybe a good bbq cook out would be good. Paul
