I have been smoking for years now. I have a Weber Smokey Mountain. Love smoking a brine turnkey. I use all kinds of great stuff in the brine. Apple juice, brown sugar, oranges, garlic, and of course kosher salt. Low and slow is the best. If the juice is running off the cutting board and piling up on the floor you have done it right.
I suggest you put some chunks of pecan or oak on the bottom surrounded by unlit charcoal. Then put the prelits on top . It will smoke for the purfect amount of time adding smoke flavor ,I like those 2 wood chunks above all.
@@3MISSISSIPPI oak is a nice mild smoke. There's a company called WESTERN that sells chunks of apple, cherry, hickry Oak and mesquite in 20lb. bags.Walmart hadem last summer !
I have had to explain the color of the meat too....people that have never smoked meat think its raw...if it pulls off the bone its cooked! I like the design!
Great little video. loved the setting, stone patio, white picket fence, turkey, chickens and roosters calling in back ground, fine looking and well spoken husband and wife. Only thing I would suggest is remote temperature gauge. Got one awhile back, so efficient, sends out temperature to unit plugged into meat and remote unit you can walk around with. will alarm about 5 degrees before temperature needed. The BBQ'd pork loin and Turkey looked amazing, and the fact it was all home grown meat sends it over the top for taste and health.
Thank you for your kind words ! I’ve had a few people mention that temp gauge ... might have to add that to my list of “must haves “ 🤔 thanks for watching
Great job Guys!! Wrap some of that fine cured bacon around that tender loin and you wouldn't be able to stand it. I could smell it smoking all the way to Mississippi.. Love it.
Binge watching the oldies. This is the one where I found your channel. Can’t figure out why Syd looks the same but the rest of us look a lot different.
Good gawd, been a while since I've seen one a you guys vids and I forgot just how lucky that man isss!!! Wow, what a gorgeous lady and he knows it too sneaking close ups of the back bumper 😋🤪 I have to watch more often
In the process of building and ugly a smoker and came across your video. Great video, beautiful family! Do you have a video on the kids play house? Looks awesome? Is it custom or from box?
So the pork loin was good! how did the turkey turn out? Did you make your own brine? how long do you need to soak? seems like a simple cooker looking good!
Thank ya-All for your time! I've been looking around for a smoker thanks to you guys I think I'm gonna purchase this one it's a good call the barrel smoker, lot of accessories to make a job easier definitely subscribe definitely thumbs up cheers from Tonopah Arizona.
Like I said before you RAISE IT, KILL IT, and then GRILL IT, that there aint nothin but SLAP YO MAMA GOOD!! Way to break in the new Cooker guy's! Im on my way to work but now I wanna turn around go home and QUE UP SOME GRUB!!
For some reason the video kept buffering at 11:30. Have you ever had to add coals to this smoker during smoking and if so how easy was it? I have an electric smoker and because of this video I need to get'r going.
I'm going to have to look around for a supplier up here in Canada. I was going to get a large outdoor deep fryer. But that's so much more versatile, and healthier for this old man.
Yea im sry dear about ur dad me and my mom were very close also i miss her so much my dad still crys for her like tomorrow when family's all here at my house and shes not really sucks !! Ur the best syd
I have watched what feels like hundreds of videos on the BHC and you are the FIRST to show the versatility of the grill part which I did not know about. Thank you. I am a newbie to smoking and always wanted to learn how to smoke: meats, fowl, etc. I was in debate mode.... Pit Barrel, Barrel House, Weber Smokey Mt, etc? I think I will get the Barrel House. How's the temp gauge on the lid? Is it junk or accurate? Thank you for displaying the BHC's different ways to use it. Do you know anything about using a tea kettle to boil water and pour over a bird to shrink the skin? It gets crispier that way and my next door neighbor does this. Any experience with this and if so, do you recommend? What temp should the cooker be at?
Thanks . The lid gushed seems pretty accurate. I personally wouldn’t pour water over a bird to crisp the skin . If I wanted crispy skin I’d fry chicken 😂. These birds come out so juicy and amazing but pouring water over the top would just wash off the rub ... but that’s just me 😀
@@3MISSISSIPPI I'm sorry I wasn't more clear. One pours hot water over the bird say in a sink, you'll see the skin shrink to the "meat" so to speak and then do what needs to be done to the bird before placing in the BHC. I have been leaning toward the BHC for a few months. Kept flailing... BHC? PBC? Weber Smokey Mt? Pellet? etc. Would you still rec the BHC?
I haven’t used those others but I definitely recommend the BHC however i know they have had trouble with production in the last year . We got another bbq called the Orion cooker ( we did a couple vids on that one too) and we have been extremely happy with that as well . I’m a big fan of brining then rubbing a bird before bbq so personally I wouldn’t do that water trick but never hurts to give it a shot if you’re curious about it 😀👍🏻
@@3MISSISSIPPI What kind of trouble has been attributed to the BHC as of last year and maybe this year? I saw the Orion on Best Buy's website, no reviews, checked all over (Google search), no reviews, so I wasn't sure about a nonestablished name brand. BBB complaints? Compliant kinda thing. If the problems with the BHC are massive, then I don't want to deal with the headaches of packing up and returning. If that is not the issue... Do you know of any links for package deals for the BHC? Mainly looking for extension and cover. You've been stellar! Thanks so much. P.S. Won't deal with Amazon right now. 3 months of scam seller and getting money back. Can the BHC be purchased from anywhere else other then Amazon?
Nothing like that ... the units are good but I heard they had slowed / stopped producing so I’m not sure if you can even buy them anymore. Check our channel... we did a couple different videos on the Orion .
I've got the original Barrel House Cooker. I really love the portability. I came to this vid because I just started a pork shoulder and love getting inspired by other BHC owners. I've seen a couple of your other videos in the past. I'll admit, as a personal chef, I thought that the pork tenderloin would get very dry due to how lean it is. But you changed my mind and will definitely do a few! I also make my own rubs, injections, and sauces. Care to share your rub blend recipe?
Now i'm hungry again.. lol.. That looked great!! And the Barrel House Cooker's are awesome!! And you may already know this, but if you want to really slow cook something in it, place the charcoal in the charcoal bin in a spiral design, so you start one end of the spiral on fire, and just let it slow burn.. And add a small pan on the coals with water and hickory or whatever smoke flavor you want, and you will be amazed!! Most meats will fall apart, so you may want to use some cooking twine to tie the meat up and tie it to the metal hooks.. lol.. Loved the video, and i hope you two have a wonderful week. Peace!!
This is a cooker not a smoker ... although it can be used several different ways . We followed BarrelHouses instructions to the T . Believe me it was spot on 😉👍🏻
Yeah, It's a cooker, but if you add a small pan with some hickory or whatever you choose, it will flavor the meat.. We've done it many times.. And yes, it is spot on every time.. Peace!!
I want a barrel house cooker! I would also like to get my wife some pants like that and I'm wondering why no link for those??? My goodness. Keep rocking the videos, you guys are fun to watch.
I like to do a dry rub on my ribs . I use mustard to adhere the rub and use garlic , paprika , onion powder, different chili powders and some of my own special spices in my recipe 😉
It looks like a versatile unit for sure with tons of possibilities. I like the fact you guys were smart and thought to whip up an appetizer while the main course was cooking. Take care guys.
great vid the only fault i see is when you are retrieving your meat from the cooker the things that goes into the barrel to hold the meat should have circle loops added to them so you can get your meat out cleaner easy mod
Awesome, in oregon you have to really be on top of your turkeys because we get a lot of rain, turkeys have a tendency to stare up at the sky and drowned if you're not careful coupled with the fact that they occasionally kick the crap out of each other and kill each other... Weird

I’ve been enjoying my Barrel House Cooker. The pork tenderloin looked great the turkey wasn’t bad let it go a little longer and it will fall apart.
Everything tasted amazing ! We are doing pork butts in it this weekend 😋
I suggest you put some chunks of pecan or oak on the bottom surrounded by unlit charcoal. Then put the prelits on top . It will smoke for the purfect amount of time adding smoke flavor ,I like those 2 wood chunks above all.

I have had to explain the color of the meat too....people that have never smoked meat think its raw...if it pulls off the bone its cooked! I like the design!
Yes true that and the midget meat is a very different color than regular turkey
You can get cold smoked uncooked foods so that may be why
That is true ... like bacon or ham but this was fully cooked .

Nope . BarrelHouse recommends using kingford charcoal and we wanted to follow instructions exactly .
