- We got a great deal from a friend who is relocating so we jumped on it and got this shipping container. Then we put some timbers in a bed of road base and had it delivered. This is going to help organize some of out tools and keep the mice out of the animal feed!

I'm impressed by that driver for his skill and patience to get that right. First I thought he was going to hit the house. Second, I never thought he would actually get that lined up on the skids.
That delivery driver went above and beyond on landing that container spot on !!!!

Ut ohh! 1/8th of an inch outta square. Looks like ya gotta start over again...lol. But, dont forget about the atmospheric river. Dont wanna go thru gettin that bad boy flooded when it rises again. Don't forget to add vents so your sweet container does not explode. The container will get super hot and expand the gas in the generator which could cause you a serious problem. Just saying.. you seem like nice folks.

If you would weld concrete hangers around perimeter of shipping container and then engross the sides with concrete maybe 3 ft. high--you would have a great Tornado Shelter--I have seen this done. Some folks mount these Containers on a Slab of Concrete and have it Anchored throughout with bolts into the concrete Base--Very Strong Storm Protection...
That is great but more earthquakes and less tornadoes here 😝

You can never have too much storage on a homestead or ranch
If you wanted the container to be mice/rat vermin proof you should have placed the container on 1 foot brick piers or stone legs raising it helps make it more difficult for the vermin to get in.
Also FYI you can unscrew and remove the plywood floors and weld in steel plate to cover the whole floor area and then replace the wooden floor on top of the steel sheet.
Next weld a 1 foot steel barrier strip covering the whole entrance inside the entrance to block the vermin entering when you open the doors.

Now all you need is a quality puck lock to keep what's yours, yours.
Master Lock isn't a quality lock. They're cast zinc which a propane torch melts with ease.
Syd, don't bet the farm that rodents won't get inside, because they do. I'd still get some bait traps and use them.

My old shop burnt down so I am getting a 40 ft shipping container to replace it. one end is my shop and the other end is storage.

Sweet addition, guy on the rollback was pretty good, I know it's too soon, but I'm assuming we'll be seeing drawings or decals of flamingos, adorning the outside walls

The only thing I would do differently, would be to use old railroad ties not just under the ends, but in the middle, they are better suited to elevate the container above the ground to elevate above ground level & assurr contents remain dry. 🤠

You might want to reconsider storing your Generator inside that container. If it has fuel in it it will fill the space with fumes.

Yea that's a good addition. If I had land of my own ide rather have one of them than a shed due to keep stuff safer and dryer. But yea that driver did pretty good he much deliver them alot. Lol. But great video. O did you add the shelf's or did you buy used from someone and they left them which is cool. The reason I asked didn't no they made the places to hang shelf's. I no hey make alot hangers for Shelfs but really cool they got for cargo trailers. I've only seen wooden shelf's and legs out in them. So love that alot cheaper to build. We got a 40' one a while back. We just set it on packed lime rock.
It's been a year since your comment, have you experienced any issues from that yet? Has water been able to drain off and not gather under the container? If not, then how thick of gravel did you lay? I'm thinking about getting a truck load for a 40' to do the same too.
We have had zero issues ... all is well with the container 👍🏻
@@spfconcept324 We have not had any problems with it. I seem to recall about 4" of rock on top of the ground. I think we got three end dump semi trailers of rock and put some under the container, some beside it to park trailers, and some on the drive way.
@@CPUDOCTHE1 did you say you had 3 truck loads? How big of an area would you say? Like 40'x40'..? And 4" thick? I'm trying to get an concept on how much volume of gravel to plan and budget for. Thank you for your insights, much appreciate it.
@@spfconcept324 We did the length of the container and the width of the container plus about 3' to my existing shop and about 10' the other side of the container to park the smaller trailers. The we did that whole width and about 10' long to the existing driveway and then put a thin layer on the existing driveway. We only did 4" under the container about 2" around it and probably less than an inch on the existing driveway.
Ya know that is going to get hot in the summer and cold in the winter ! mine feels like 2 times colder and hotter

Then they put like a rubberish plastic liner in them.
Put steps and a filter rig.
Then the drop them right in your yard.
It's a little self-contained pool is pretty neat!

i have a 110' x 40' metal building that I am going to put a pole barn or lean to attached to it on one side. I am using 3 x 20' containers. front - middle - back . then put the roof sitting on top of the storage containers the entire length. This gives me 60' of storage and parking spaces in between - I get 8 x 10' wide parking spaces for trackers ...trailers.... trucks.....boats.....travel trailers etc...etc..
