  • Gabe is an autistic and nonverbal teen. Ever since 2020 Gabe shocked us when he started to sing. As he has gotten older his voice has changed and he doesn’t sing or try to say words much at all.
    When we were in Myrtle Beach I started to hear him try to. After returning home we put on our favorite show, The Voice! Gabe loves it! He started singing again and talking in his own way! I can’t wait to see how this all develops!

      That’s so great. Often times it’s just finding the right key to unlock potential. Singing uses a different part of our brain than talking. You’d think they’d be similar but they’re not. Sometimes where words can’t find the way in or out singing can.

      He’s going to speak… but he needs music therapy included with speech at same time. Singing words, sentences, etc.

    • @LunaZane
      @LunaZane 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shellylavigne5913I agree that he needs music therapy but often autistic children are nonverbal because they have auditory processing disorder. Music uses the opposite side of the brain from language and often can help them learn. My son was nonverbal for many years but with music, computer and tv he learned to speak. My talking sounded like gibberish to him most of the time but if the tv or computer talked he eventually started to understand. Auditory processing basically means they have trouble processing auditory speech and that’s why noise and talking can stress an autistic person out. I read once that for people with auditory processing disorder listening to someone talk for 15 minutes is like running a marathon, it’s both physically and mentally exhausting. Music therapy helps so much, definitely recommend but don’t pursue speech therapy until you’re sure they don’t have auditory processing disorder (used to be called central auditory processing disorder CAPD). If they have APD then use computer based speech therapy and children’s cartoons with limited short easy talking. My son loved magic school bus and rugrats. From rugruts he learned to understand what family, mom, dad, sisters etc meant and so much more that didn’t click with me telling him.

    I bet Gabe hears a complexity of things in music that most people do not hear. He might think of music as a way to bridge the gap between the world outside himself and his inner world. If he is vocalizing as the music is playing, I think he is making that cognitive connection! Music truly is therapeutic for all!!!

  • @barbarabruce7648
    @barbarabruce7648 ปีที่แล้ว +206

    I'm certain that Gabe has the music in him. He thinks in terms of music. You can see it. I have two young teens ( not autistic ) who are musically gifted. They have thrust my hubby and I into a world of music. I have met through them, musically gifted kids and adults, many on the spectrum. I would strongly suggest you offer an array of instruments to Gabe. It is shockingly amazing how fast musically gifted kids learn to play the instrument of their choosing. Gabe may be twirling and humming to concertos in his wonderful imagination. I think he is.❤🎶❤🎶❤🎶❤🎶 He's such an Angel he probably hears heavenly Harps.

    Gabe seems to feel and connect with music. Music therapy was beneficial for a former neighbor's nonverbal son. It was amazing to observe his facial expressions as the music would change.

    Oh he definitely loves music and song! He really enjoyed that and yeah maybe the trip outside helped him too. It puts me in good mood anyway. Love and hugs to Gabe and family ❤

    I am in awe when I see a pure, true, innocent soul. What an amazing young man! As Elton John sang, 🎶This song’s for you🎶

    It’s wonderful that the positive vibrations of musics speak to him. Perhaps this is the key to that door? Music is a Universal language, because it comes from people’s Soul. Music Vibrates Love. This is what he connects with. I think Eric Clapton would be thrilled to know that in a very real sense, his music is healing others…thus changing the world….one beautiful boy at a time❤️🙏

    God bless him!! I have a 33 yr old asperger's son. He loved myrtle beach as well. We went there 6-7x as he grew up. Your son is beautiful and his voice inside is saying so many things - and singing is one of them. 💙💙💙

    I worked in a Psych hospital where I had an older lady that we thought was mute, had never talked with us for years, but one day a song from the 1930's or 40's was playing on a record in the Recreation Department and she started to sing the whole song!!!!! When it was over she stopped singing and still did not speak.Has your don ever been exposed to a piano? He has nice long fingers perfect for someone who might play piano! Maybe he has hidden talents that are waiting for the right time to come out! Look at Kodi Lee from America's Got Talent. Check out his story and his talent! God Blessed you with your son for a reason. He knows who He can entrust His Special Angels to!

    Thank you for not giving up! I watch a lady on FB whose son was diagnosed as nonverbal autistic. He's communicating and doing all sorts of wonderful things the Dr said he wouldn't be able to. Kudos to you and parents who keep fighting the good fight!
